Silverpaw stood on the side lines, the rumors starting up again. “She was in the forest and just happened to find him?” “I don't trust a word she says.” “She was in the forest?!”
She walk passed them to grab some prey. Leafkit padded behind her, “who’s the new cat?” she asked Silverpaw.
“‘He’s not new, Leafkit.” She sighed and lay down to eat.
“Then why have I never seen him before?” She popped down, Leafkit looked stubborn.
“He our uncle,” Silverpaw spoke through bites of prey. “He went away for awhile.” Silverpaw looked across camp. Shifted her paws and finished her prey.
Silverpaw felt tiny paws on her back and knew Leafkit was on my back. “Badger back ride?” She smiled and stood having Leafkit balanced on her back.
Silverpaw could feel the eyes of a warrior on her. Her name is Snowclaw, she’s a lot bigger than the rest of our warriors. She’s patterned like a leopard, and huge. Her eyes watch Silverpaw a lot, although shes never spoken. She was Hazelclaws best friend, and they were close. I can feel that she blames me, just as the rest of the clan. Silverpaw needed to remember to sleep with one eye open when she's around.
Silverpaw walked to the nursery and dumped my little sister off. Her paws turn towards her prison, and She watched Shadeleaf attempt to heal Nightwings eyes. Even though she was a fully trained medicine now. She was lost to things she’d never seen. Silverpaw felt her coming, she was used to the wave of blackness now. The distort of color how the world seems to freeze and change. And she was there instead of me, Shadeleaf knew by now what the difference meant between her eye colors. She stepped out of Silverpaw way, and her paws simply went to work. But when she went over to help Nightwing, he backed away at the sent.
“Silverpaw, you are not a medicine cat. Let Shadeleaf finish her work.” He spoke.
Poor Nightwing, he could not see the difference between she and myself. He did not know the lengths that this medicine cat had gone to protect her clan.
She spoke with my voice, “I helped your mother kit little one. Sit still well I hope your eyes. You will see this truth soon.”
“This is a very terrible joke, Silverpaw.”
“This is no joke,” She hissed. “Now sit still!”
He backed away and walked out of the medicine den, “Shadeleaf, I’ll come back later.”
Silverpaw padded out of the den and her eyes caught Silentstar’s and she nodded towards her. She lept onto the raised hollow, “All cats that can dream gather here to hear me.”
As the clan gather up, excitement filled the air. Silverpaw walked near front, and felt a cat stand beside her. Looking up she notice it’s Flamefur had a sad smile.
“If we had gotten past our differences we could have made a good team.” She whispered.
She nodded looking up at Silentstar, who in turn continued.
“ I, Silentstar, leader of Dreamclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. They have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend them to you as a warrior in their turn.”
Silverpaw stepped forward out of the ring of cats.
“Silverpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?” She asked looking down at her.
She held her head up high, “I do.”
She nodded at me “Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Silverpaw, from this moment on you will be known as Silverflame. StarClan honors your strength to overcome anything, and we welcome you as a full warrior of Dreamclan.”
She licked her shoulder, and clan sent my new name into the skies. And I felt the tears run down my face, ‘Creampaw, I’ve done it, I made it. I’m a Warrior.’
Lizardblaze padded over to me, “He’s proud of you. I just know it.” She purred.
The kits followed in her paw steps.
Silverflame nodded and smiled sadly, “I just wish he was here too.”
Lizardblaze press into her, “There isn’t a day that I don’t wish that too.”
Silverflame looked over her shoulder to see her father sitting there watching her, Hollyshade stood there watching her, as well. And she felt a cold chill run over her spine.
The kits distracted her, by climbing there way up her back. She purred, and Silverflame could feel more then see him stand there. Smiling sadly as well.
A few sunrises later, Nightwing was found at the site of Creampaw and Hazelclaw’s deaths. He was also dead. This left mother broken. It didnt help that father left her complete alone. She had no father figure, no father, a broken mother, and three kits to care for. Lizardblaze left the nursery, so Silverflame stay with them.
So she was the one to clean them up before there Apprentice ceremonies. Silverflame was so proud, when they were given their roles in the clan. This though meant that she had to return to the Warriors Den.
Soon Skypaw and Stormpaw became Skyfall and Stormbrezze. And the hatred grew, and mistrust, I had hurt Skyfall.
All this build up and one day my emotions broke. I was on my way to see Shadeleaf for my scar was hurting. But all that left my mind when I saw Hollyshade standing over my father. Anger filled my system, and the engralin took over.
“Get away from him!” I yowled and lept.
Hollyshade was caught off guard and thrown sideways, everything turned, nothing else matters. Somewhere She heard someone yell her name. Red hot rage tinted my vision, my claws where quick, he fell over. And Mossleaf pushed her away, and Silverflame vision cleared and looked down at what she had done. Hollyshade lay there in a puddle of blood, Shadeleaf pushed past her, and She backed away. Shadeleaf bent down and started her work, Silverflame looked in horror at her claws. Mossleaf whirled around and stepped toward her. But this time She couldn’t run and behind my mother.
“You did this! You've killed him!” He spat at her.
“I-i.. didn’t me-an too…” She whispered.
“Get out of here. Get out of my sight!” He screamed at her.
Silverflame turned and ran, not stopping to think just ran blindly forward. When She finally came to a stop She had no idea where she was, the trees were different to those in her home. She huffed and panicked, she had killed a clanmate, she was gonna be exiled from her home. The only place and cats she had ever known.
“I can never go home…” Silverpaw whispered panicked tears running down her face.
She wanted to pace, but she just sat there terrified, She didn’t know what to do.
“Oh Starclan, help me.”
The wind shifted and warmth pressed around her, she felt her tears stop, the warm honey scent breathed around her, She stood up and waiting for them, a sad smile crossed her face. But then the wind changed it became bitterly cold. She shuttered and stepped backwards.
“N-no! It was an accident I didn't mean to kill you!” Silverflame whimpered and pressed her back into the nearest tree.
The air got colder and colder, She could see her own breath mist in front of her. The sky above her seemed to darken. When she opened her eyes again, Hollyshade stood there in front of her. She backed up into the tree.
“Careful child, I come with a message. That is all.” His voice was very far away. His eyes shone real pain. Silverflame was still tense, but she stopped hugging the tree.
“Why are you here?” She asked.
“Only to speak with you.” He looked sombar. “Some cats will be coming to the clan soon. You must be ready to fight for your life. Both of you.”
His words made her shudder. “How do you know?” She asked.
He huffed, “Your souls are entwined. Anycat can see that, but soon she must let go of you, we must see if you both live through the separation” His eyes grew dark.
She slide out her claws, “What do you want?”
His gaze returned from its one hundred yard stare to my eyes.
“War is coming flames will eat the silences, leaves will fall and skies will fly.”
The warmth returned with a huff and he was gone. She was left feeling dazed. She sat there for awhile and then turned her paws towards home. Soon after She pasted into clan territory, She was picked by a portal, they had been out of camp all day. And where very confused when they saw the blood on her paws. She didnt say anything and one warrior when to get Silentstar. When she came out into the forest she left the warriors behind and lead her to the river, and helped Silverflame wash off her paws. As She told her what Hollyshade had told her.
She sat there watching Silverflame and she finally spoke, “Since the day you were born I’ve seen starclan care for you. I’m not sure why, but if even the place of no stars speaks with you. I can’t just throw you out.”
Silverflame looked up at her, “I can stay?”
Silentstar nodded, “If Hollyshades words are true, and I have no reason not to trust them. Then my child will need you more than anything else. But your recent endeavor has lead to the death of your fathers new mate.”
She sat there staring at Silentstar, “My father..? With that monster?” She whispered
“He will do everything in his power to hurt you,” She mused. “You must be careful, I hope this spilt comes soon. But I believe I will not be here with you when that happens.”
“What do you mean?” She looked at Silverflame closer, there was pain in her eyes.
“You know what I mean, little one.” She sighed and stood, “Let us go home.”
Silverflame stood and followed Silentstar, her paws still wet some of the blood was still in my claws. It could have been just in my mind, but the voices hissed at me.
