Chapter Text

“Sooo…”

Jirou’s face scrunched up in annoyance as the overly fake, high-pitched voice pierced through her eardrums like a sharp needle. “What?” she shouted grumpily, glaring at a pink-haired girl who was currently sitting crossed leg opposite of her. Said pink girl’s body was leaning forward, supported by both of her arms as her golden irises stared Jirou down with an amused ferocity.

Jirou sighed in exasperation, “Mina I’ve already-”

“Sooo…”

Her fist clenched unconsciously in frustration as Jirou rolled her eyes, frustration slowly bubbling in the pits of her stomach due to the interruption by a certain invisible girl to the left of her. Despite being invisible, Jirou could still tell that Toru was staring her down with the same intensity Mina currently had.

“Guys please-”

“Sooo…”

The moment Momo’s voice reached her ear Jirou whipped her head in her best friend’s direction so fast that even Jirou herself was surprised she didn’t suffer from whiplash. “Oh come on Yaomomo, not you too?” she muttered, dumbfounded, staring at the onyx hair girl with a look of betrayal radiating off the purple-haired girl’s face.

At least Momo had the decency to look apologetic as she chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of her neck, “sorry, I couldn’t resist.”

Deciding that she was having none of it, Jirou huffed as she crossed her arms, giving the three girls currently invading her room a stare that showed she was done fooling around, “Seriously guys, I’ve already told you almost everything about me and Izuku, what else do still you want to hear!?”, Jirou half screamed, throwing her hands up in aggravation as an added measure.

The moment she returned from her ‘not-so-secret-anymore’ rendezvous with Midoriya, Jirou returned to the dorms to find herself immediately kidnapped into her own room by the three people who found out about her secret relationship in the first place. Heck, she didn’t even know how they had managed to enter her room in the first place! Though she did have a slight suspicion that her best friend played a major part in the breaking-in.

If it wasn’t the fact that they had brazenly stuck their noses into her private affairs, Jirou could almost respect the fact that both Mina and Toru managed to keep their mouths shut and not blabber to every person they met, instead opting to keep it between the four girls.

Almost

The next day, Jirou found herself in the same situation when she returned to the dorms after a late meeting with Izuku, which had led towards her current situation.

Once again, Jirou found herself letting out a sigh for the umpteenth time. She squeezed her eyes shut for a brief second, trying to force out the phantom headache that was currently plaguing her brain. Jirou desperately hoped that it was all just a bad dream, and she would wake up like any other day to have some happy times with Izuku, but when she opened her eyes once again to see three pairs of mischievous eyes staring back, Jirou couldn’t help but groan. “For god’s sake what do you guys want.”

“Ahem”

All of a sudden, the lights in her room went out, shrouding them in complete darkness.

“What the-'' Jirou swirled her head around frantically, using her jacks to identify the location of her friends in the room. Through the cracks of light leaking from the door, she could vaguely identify Toru’s floating clothes stationed at the doorway, her invisible hands seemingly controlling the light switches. When did she-

“Jirou Kyouka”

The purple-haired girl flinched instantly the second she was mentioned, not expecting the sudden use of her full name. Jirou turned back towards the direction of Mina’s stern voice, but before her eyes could find the pink-haired girl, she was temporarily blinded by a spotlight that had magically appeared above her. The moment her vision returned, Jirou was met with a still sitting Mina with her own spotlight shining above the pink-haired girl, the only difference being the pair of sunglasses that the alien girl sprouted out of nowhere and the small whiteboard beside her. Where the hell are they getting these stuff from?

Her questions were immediately answered as faint light revealed Momo creating a black marker pen out of the corner of her eye, the creation quirk user then proceeded to hand it over to a very straight-faced Mina.

“Thank you, Yaoyorozu.” the pink-skinned girl nodded slightly. “Now then, Miss Jirou Kyouka. We shall now have a brief summary of the events that had led up to this moment.”, with a loud ‘pop’ Mina removed the cap of the marker and began to draw on the whiteboard, “First off,”

“Two weeks after moving into the dorms,” she scribbled a coherent date before moving on to drawing a couch, “we caught you, sending mushy texts to your sweetheart,” Mina completed the drawing with a stick figure having string for ears.

“He’s not my sweet-” Jirou tried to protest, but was immediately shushed by Toru who sat attentively next to her. When did she get there?

“Case number two!” Mina announced, ignoring the interruption, “I would like to invite our prime witness to explain her point of view.”

“Ooh oooh!” a third spotlight shone onto Toru as she magically appeared on the other end of the whiteboard. “Okay! So a week after the first case, we were having a study group. Iida was the one who set it up like usual, but Mineta surprised us by joining too! We were so shocked! He even said that-”

“Focus, Toru!” Mina interjected before the invisible girl could go off on a tangent.

“Right, sorry.” her sleeves waved around sheepishly, “back to the point- we were halfway through our study session when our suspect randomly walked in, presumably from a very heavy session with her sweetheart!”

“Hmm Hmm!” Mina nodded, finishing up her version of horrendous drawings to match with Toru’s story while still ignoring Jirou’s protest. “Thank you, Toru. Now, for the third act. Miss Yaoyorozu, would you like to do the honors?”

The spotlight that previously shone on Toru turned off and reappeared above Momo, but to Jirou’s mild relief, the onyx-haired girl immediately shook her head, rejecting Mina’s offer.

“Back to me then,” Mina simply stated, unfazed, as the spotlight once again focused onto the pink girl. “The third incident happened after a month,” she drew curvy arrows that connected each case, “I believe it’s the most famous of them all, you see.” she drew an image of Jirou in an oversized shirt, “this is pretty self-explanatory, no?” Mina finished, tapping the board with the other end of the marker.

At this point Jirou simply stood there in silence, resigned to her fate.

“LAST but not least!” Toru suddenly piped up, causing the purple-haired girl to flinch, “the BIG reveal!” Mina finished her sentence, giving her invisible friend a high five.

“After months of investigating and snooping!”

“We finally!”

“Came to the truth!”

Mina pointed towards Jirou triumphantly, “Weeks of investigation had led towards us uncovering the green secret that is Midoriya Izuku!”

“We’re really sorry, by the way,” Toru added quietly beside her, “y’know, for intruding on your privacy like that.” Jirou raised a brow at that statement, huh, at least they still had some decency to admit it.

“And that concludes our short presentation!” Mina announced just as all the lights came back on, “any questions?”

“Yes,” Jirou gave her the most deadpanned and unimpressed stare she could muster, “your drawing is horrible, also how long did it take for you guys to set it up?”

“Two hours!” Mina replied smugly, ignoring Jirou’s comment on her artistic skills, “we’ve set this up immediately after returning to the dorms, the two hours include choreography too!” Seeing that Jirou had no more things to add on, Mina clapped her hands once, her face twisting into a sinister smile, “since don’t have anything more to ask, I have a personal question of my own,” she leaned forward, and Jirou gulped instinctively out of fear.

Golden iris met purple as Mina leaned dangerously close towards Jirou, “why in god’s name aren’t the two of you going out yet?”

As the words came tumbling out of Mina’s mouth, Jirou realized that oh, that was what they were planning to talk about all along . “I mean, you guys are clearing into each other, you act like a maiden in love despite just texting him, and god don’t get me started on the way the two of you look at each other, the pure sweetness alone is going to make Sato as strong as All Might! Plus, you even have his shirt! I swear to god I know I don’t understand how your mindworkssometimesbutthisistoo-

As Mina rambled on eccentricity, Jirou turned towards Momo for confirmation. The onyx-haired girl nodded, gesturing towards the duo, “this is what they were planning to ask you all along.”

The moment Momo answered her question, Jirou could feel the irritation and annoyance from the start bubbled up again, “Is this really what you guys are asking right now?” she asked weakly, forcing herself to calm down as she struggled to contain her emotions.

“Yes,” Toru immediately confirmed her question, moving in front of her. Her voice had changed from the previous giddy tone to a more coaxing one. “We’re sorry about the whole ‘interrogation’ thing, we figured you’d react strongly if we straight up confronted you about this matter so we had to warm you up first.” The purple-haired girl managed to feel Toru staring gently at her as if she was trying to comfort the ugly feelings currently residing inside. Meanwhile, Mina had fallen silent too, opting to sit quietly at the sides.

Jirou could feel the invisible girl hold both of her hands gently, “I know it sounds generic, but we- me and Mina are just worried about you. You and that vice president seemed very intimate with each other so it felt wrong to us when you told us you’re not dating.”

“It’s not wrong to have a platonic relationship too,” Mina quickly added, joining Toru in front of Jirou, “we can understand if you want to be intimate with him purely as friends. But based on what you told us yesterday and the way you act I can tell that you’re denying something.”

“They’re not wrong, you know,” before Jirou could speak, Momo suddenly spoke up behind the duo, “I may have been dragged into this, but I care for you too, Kyouka. You can trust us.”

“I…” Jirou tried to say something, but the words got caught in her throat. She slowly looked up, expecting her friends’ egging faces, pushing her to spit out the truth immediately, but instead she was met with three pairs of gentle gazes, waiting for her to feel comfortable, giving her the patience she needed. It slightly reminds her of... Izuku

“You can trust us.”

“Six,”

Jirou finally took a deep breath before continuing, “me and Izuku, we’ve known each other for six years, we started off as classmates at first, he’s so plain I’ve never even noticed him until a few months later…”

She tilted her head up, looking towards the ceiling as Jirou began to get lost in her thoughts, “I guess you can call it fate that our paths somehow managed to cross...and soon enough I was absolutely smitten with him.”

“Izuku’s my inspiration, he’s the reason why I want to be a hero. He’s...someone I want to be with. I like him, and I know he likes me too. It’s just…” she blinked, a certain memory surfacing from the back of Jirou’s mind as she began to reminisce.

It was roughly the year before UA, Jirou and Midoriya were cuddling on Jirou’s bed, Midoriya idly scrolling through his phone while Jirou was simply lost in his warmth, snuggling up to him.

“Hey Zuku,” she was the one who started the conversation.

“Yeah?” he replied, putting down his phone to look at her. She shivered slightly upon feeling his gentle gaze; he always drops his current action to focus on her every time she speaks.

“You’re going to UA right?”

“Of course, it’s my dream, after all.”

Jirou let out a breath she was holding, mentally preparing herself for the question she’s going to ask next, “what about me?”

“Hmm?”

“Do you…” she fidgeted slightly, hesitating, “do you think...I can become a hero too?”

He stroked her head lightly, “no matter what you choose to be, I’ll be supporting you all the way. You know that,” his voice was soft, soothing, and always managed to make her heart feel warm and fluttery, “you can be a hero, Kyo.”

The way he said her nickname, it makes her feel like the most important girl in the world, and Jirou knows that in his eyes, she is.

“Hey, Izuku?”

“Yeah?”

“You like me, right?”

There was a pause, before Midoriya replied, “yeah, I like you.”

He was still looking at her, but Jirou could see faint blushes rising on his cheeks. She looked down, “I like you too...but, I’m not sure about this.” she muttered, “I don’t know, don’t…’ she stumbled on her words, seemingly having trouble getting the right answers out.

“I know, Kyo,” all of a sudden, he pulled her head into his chest, wrapping her in a gentle hug, “take your time, I can wait.”

“We’ve been intimate,” Jirou said, finally snapping out of that distant memory, “more intimate than friends, that I knew. We’ve cuddled, slept on the same bed, and even held hands at one point.”

“I knew that we were closer than friends, I knew that we were more than that, and yet,” her hands clenched into fists unconsciously, “and yet I feel like if we change our relationship, the flow we had will be changed. I’m perfectly comfortable with what we have now, and I feel like even the slightest change would have a major impact.”

“I...don’t want anything bad to happen, I’m scared of losing him too. But at the same time I know it’s wrong to leave him hanging like that; I don’t even know how he’s able to have the patience for someone like me. I...to put it simply, I guess I’m just afraid.”

The moment Jirou finished her rant, she could feel three pairs of arms wrapping around her, giving her gentle and comforting hugs. “It’s okay to be afraid,” Jirou felt Momo’s voice vibrate through her as the tall girl pressed herself against her tightly, “it’s natural to be afraid of changes.”

“We might be heroes, but we’re still teenagers,” Toru added, “I heard that from Aizawa Sensei. Besides, it’s the same with myself and Ojirou too,” Jirou blinked in surprise, not expecting the invisible girl to suddenly reveal her relationship like that, “we were unsure of where we would go at first, since everything is a first for us. But we faced the awkwardness together, head-on, and I’d say we’re doing quite well now” she took both of her hands gently, “all I’m trying to say is that no matter what happens, as long as you guys are together, it’ll be fine,” Jirou could feel the invisible girl smiling softly.

Mina removed herself from the group hug and moved in front of her, she looked her in the eyes, her gaze soft without an ounce of intensity, “do you love him, Jirou?”

Slightly taken aback by the question, Jirou paused before replaying the question in her mind, do I love him, do I love Izuku? She thought back the to times she spent together with him, her happiness whenever she’s with him. She thought about his passion, his smile. She thought about Izuku.

“Yeah,” the unease in her stomach was now gone, replaced with a fiery determination and newfound confidence, “I love him, I’ve always do.”

Mina smiled, “there you go, from what I’ve heard and seen, all you need is a little push.” Standing up, she turned towards Jirou, “you’re an amazing person, Jirou, and you’re going to become an amazing hero one day. So never doubt yourself, okay?” she pulled the purple-haired girl to her feet, “I think you know what you have to do now,” Mina smiled, pushing the girl towards the door, “go get ‘em, tiger.”

Jirou smiled, “thank you, all of you,” she looked at her three friends gingerly in the eyes, thinking about how lucky she was to have met and befriended people like them, before heading out of her room.

Only to find Bakugou standing outside her door.

Jirou stared in surprise as Mina popped her head out from the room, just noticing the ash-blond boy. “Bakugou, what are you doing here?”

“Running a shitty errand,” the explosive boy grumbled, before shoving a bag into Jirou’s arms, “if you’re going to visit the nerd, give him this. Tell him it’s from my stupid hag of a mom.”

Jirou frowned, “I never knew you were familiar with Izuku.”

Bakugou scoffed, “Familiar? I know the nerd longer than you. That nerd was worried that the extras will pressure you too much so he asked me to keep an eye out, not that he needed to worry.”

Jirou smiled softly, recognizing the small compliment in the explosive boy’s words, “thanks Bakugou.”

He growled, before stomping off gently, “I don’t care, just don’t make that nerd wait any longer. You mess this up and I won’t hesitate to blast you to kingdom come.”

As Bakugou left, the three girls that were in Jirou’s room popped their heads out. “He’s actually kind of nice, isn’t he?” Momo questioned.

“I find it kind of cute!” Toru exclaimed.

Jirou chuckled as she waved her friends goodbye and exited the dorms, making a beeline towards the 1-B building. It was already dark out, but there were still hours until curfew so she took her time, her mind swirling with thoughts on what she would say once she finally confronted him.

As Jirou approached the equally massive building that is the dorm of 1-B, she took a deep breath before pushing open the large door.

“Oh, hey Jirou!” Setsuna was the one who noticed her first, the reptilian girl was sitting on the headrest of the couch before noticing the purple-haired girl walk through.

“Yo,” Jirou raised her hand in return. Due to her relationship with Midoriya, she’d been to the 1-B dorms enough times that she’s familiar with its residents. “I’m here to see Izuku,” she said, showing her the bag she got from Bakugou.

“Oh, OH!”, it took a second for Setsuna to recognize the bag in Jirou’s hand, but when she did, her eyes lit up like the Christmas lights on a Christmas tree, “is it finally happening? Guys, it’s finally happening!”

Instantly everyone’s attention was on Jirou. The purple-haired girl cowered lightly, still not used to the feeling of suddenly having all eyes on her, “how did you know?” she asked, a bit shyly.

“Easy! Midoriya told us if one day you came with this bag we should leave the both of you alone for a while,” Setsuna replied, pointing at her bag, “ooooh this is gonna be so good! Yui owes me 5000 yen for this-”

Before the green-haired girl could finish her sentence, she was interrupted by a large hand as Kendo appeared, shooing the rest of her classmates away, “calm down, you guys are scaring her.”

As the members of class 1-B scrambled away, the class president approached Jirou, “sorry about them,” she apologized gently, “you know how they can be with anything related to Midoriya.”

Jirou nodded, thanking the orange-haired girl for the intervention, “don’t worry, it’s not entirely unexpected, I’m used to it by now.”

Hearing her response, Kendo grinned, “he’s in his room, I’m sure you know the way,” she said as Jirou thanked her once again. Before she left, Kendo called out to her once again, “good luck, and take care of him, okay?”

Jirou gave her a thumbs up in return before ascending the flight of stairs, arriving at the familiar hallway as she eventually reached the door labeled ‘Midoriya Izuku’.

She took a deep breath, putting a hand on her chest to calm her beating heart before knocking twice on the door.

“It’s unlocked,” Midoriya's voice vibrated through the door. Judging by his soft and soothing tone, Jirou had a sneaking suspicion that he already knew who it was.

“Hey Kyo,” the moment Jirou entered his room, she was greeted with a soft smile that made her previous effort to steady her racing heart fruitless. Midoriya Izuku sat by his desk, the empty wooden surface showed no signs of work being halfway done as if he was already expecting the purple-haired girl.

“Hey,” she greeted back, plopping herself on his bed nonchalantly; she’d been in his room enough times to not be embarrassed about it, “how did you know I’m here?”

“Well…” he rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, “Tokage isn’t exactly quiet about your arrival, I could hear her from up here,” he motioned towards the bag she was holding, “so I assume Kacchan gave you that bag?”

“Kacchan?” she raised an eyebrow at the nickname before nodding in response, “you never told me that you and Bakugou knew each other before me.”

“It never came up,” Midoriya chuckled guiltily, “we didn't exactly get off to a good start too when he found out I’m attending UA, but I sorted it out with him last month so we’re kind of on friendlier terms with each other now.”

“So I guess you really know the reason why I’m here?” she asked, lifting the bag in her hand, he nodded, “are you sure your quirk isn’t mind reading?”

“Last time I checked, it’s still telekinesis,” Midoriya chuckled as he moved towards the bed, sitting beside her, “even though I already know what you’re here for, I still want to hear you say it yourself,” he placed his hand on hers, “please, Kyo?”

Jirou blushed heavily as she was temporarily overwhelmed by his warm gaze, his pleading tone, and his heavy touch, deep breath, Kyouka, she thought to herself, closing her eyes to steady her nerves.

“Midoriya Izuku,” she breathed as she opened her eyes to stare into the bright green eyes that had been looking at her all this time with the love and care she felt she did not deserve. The same eyes who had been supporting her all the way, the same eyes where she felt comfort in, where she found her strength in.

“I love you, I always have.”

“I know,” Midoriya murmured as he pulled her into a hug, “ thank you .”

Overcome by emotion, Jirou could only return the hug, droplets of happy tears beginning to slide down her cheeks, “I’m sorry I took so long.”

“It’s okay,” he whispered back, “I love you too, Kyo.”

Purple eyes met green and Jirou knew what she wanted to do. Leaning closer, she felt her heart breathe a breath of relief as their lips connected. Her first kiss wasn’t magical, there weren't any fireworks nor any explosions. As Jirou melted into him, she only felt right, like this was how it should be, like it was how it was supposed to happen. They stayed in that position for what seemed like an eternity before eventually separating, both feeling the need for oxygen. Jirou and Midoriya sat side by side on the bed, stupid grins plastered on their faces as they were lost in their trances.

Midoriya was the first to snap out of their daze. Glancing at the All Might digital clock on his desk, he shook Jirou slightly, “I guess it’s time for you to return, Kyo. I don’t want Eraserhead to breathe down my neck again after the last time you stayed over.”

“Sure...yeah,” Jirou could only vaguely reply as her mind was still in a haze. Seeing her state, Midoriya could only laugh as he nuzzled his head against her affectionately before pulling her to her feet.

The two then exited his room, his hand in hers as they made their way out of the 1-B dorms, only to get assaulted by Midoriya’s classmates in the living room.

“Hey, knock it off!” Midoriya laughed as he tried to protect himself from his dormmates, pushing away Kuoiro, who was ruffling his hair, using his free hand as he guided Jirou towards the door, “let me walk my girlfriend back to her dorm first, then I’ll give you all the details you hungry hyenas want!”

Jirou could feel herself blush as the word ‘girlfriend’ left his mouth as butterflies began fluttering in her heart once again. She bid the rest of class 1-B goodbye as she and Midoriya went outside, not before shouting “no eavesdropping!” to a pouting Setsuna who was caught detaching an eye and ear. The rest of the walk back was rather silent, the two teens simply enjoying each others’ company.

Moments later they found themselves standing in front of the doors to the 1-A dorms. “So, I guess this is it then.” Midoriya smiled, his free hand grabbing her other hand as they faced each other.

“I guess so,” Jirou muttered back, a smile gracing her lips, “see you tomorrow?”

He smiled back and leaned into another short kiss before pulling back, letting go of her hands a bit reluctantly. “Good night, Kyo.”

“Night, Izuku.”

With that being said, he turned around and left, occasionally glancing back to smile at Jirou. She watched his retracting back until it disappeared from view before entering the building, immediately being bombarded with questions from her friends who were camping out in the common room and saw everything. For once in her life, Jirou answered their questions with a smile on her face, the smile never left even when she went to bed. Jirou fell asleep thinking about the boy with green eyes and messy hair, fantasizing about how their relationship will be in the future, thinking about nothing but happy thoughts.

Notes:

I know it's supposed to be a one-shot but the idea for a second chapter came to me after a week :P This is the result of weeks of arduous writer's block and flashes of inspiration.
