a thread:
Once their backs were turned away from the stage, the smiling faces of the two idols darkened. Cold aura surrounded them. They didn't even look at each other and just walked away, directly going to their own dressing room. Takeda, Shouyo's manager sheepishly smiled at Tobio's handler Ukai. The other one just rolled his eyes in defeat. They both have tried to settle whatever those two are on but they won't budge. Shouyo and Tobio just insisted they won't be friends. Never.
"It's amazing how they can be like that on stage and it just disappears the second the audience is gone." Takeda commented, concerned about his artist's wellness. He knows it is hard for him to deal with the situation. He remembered Shouyo's face when the president of their company presented this idea with no room to decline. No one knows about their past aside from a few close people in their lives.
"Let's just be glad they're both professionals." Ukai huffed on his cig and patted Takeda's back. He followed his artist back to the dressing room. Tobio wasn't exactly happy with the whole situation as well. And just like Shouyo, he wasn't allowed to say no. The raven haired idol was raging after he agreed and signed the contract.
But now, the two, formerly known as TwoFly are tied into this predicament. Fans have been requesting a reunion show for Promise. The series was so popular back then. Merchandise, mall tours and even exclusive albums were produced! Ten years today, was the start of Tobio and Shouyo's romance.
They were just teenagers back then, fresh to the limelight. Although Tobio was a child actor with a great potential, he was not as famous as one would think he is. So he accepted Promise along with a newbie named Shouyo. It was the kid's first show and he was given a relatively large role. Tobio heard he aced the audition and the producers are enamored with him. Curious as to what kind of person he would be partnered with, he waited for the boy to join him on set.
And boy was it a moment he won't forget. Shouyo came into the set, smiling brightly and greeting everyone shyly. He was just shining. Tobio almost rubbed his eyes to see if he was hallucinating the flowers blooming around the orange haired boy. His heart was pounding but his body froze staring at his soon to be on-screen partner.
'Oh shit, he'll be my partner?! Oh my gosh he's beautiful.'
"So he's the mystery guy huh?" someone said from behind. A tall guy, about Tobio's age, scrutinized the newcomer. "Tsk." was the raven head's only answer to mask the growing heat on his face. It did not escape the observant eyes of Kei however and vowed to himself to tease the hell out of his co-star from then on.
"He your type?"
"Shut up."
And when Shouyo came up to him, it felt like the sun and the ocean (a whole beautiful beach) just washed up on him. Je was so caught off guard that he reverted back to his bad habit.
"Hi! Nice to meet you! I'm Hinata Shouyo."
"Yeah. And?"
Tobio berated himself for his standoffish behavior as he hears Kei snicker behind him. He just wanted to flat out be swallowed up by earth especially when the sparkle on the tangerine's eyes dimmed in disappointment.
"His name is Kageyama Tobio. Don't be fooled by him, he's like this when he's shy."
"Okay…?"
But that was all in the past, Tobio would say. The days where he was enamored by Shouyo were over. Now, whenever he sees him, anger just boils in him. Just as their first meeting is still fresh on his mind, their last time together and the bitter taste it gives his mouth takes over.
'You just care about yourself!'
Those words still ring in his head.
"Great job today Tobio." Ukai complimented his artist upon entering the room. He could see the frown on the young man's forehead and sighed deeply. All other people inside started to leave when he motioned them to.
"Thanks. Say that to me when this thing's over."
The concert was just a start of the lengthy schedule up ahead upon their contract signing. They'll be doing a lot of interviews and specials for this event. Heck, they're even pushing for them to have a duet song and put it on charts as if they are a real idol duo.
"Well at least we have one agenda down. Don't be such a downer kid. This is work. Whatever you and that boy's business is outside of this. Just be professional."
Tobio slumped on his chair, defeated. He knows his manager is right. His feelings, or whatever it is doesn't matter. He should remember that this is his work. But fck it is incredibly hard to just even look at his ex.
"Anyway, here's tomorrow's schedule. The Kingz will make a short appearance in Happy Together. They'll probably ask you things about today, so make sure to act nicely."
"I know…"
Ukai ruffled the boy's hair genuinely, concerned at the inner turmoil that Tobio is going through ever since the project was given to him by the company.
"It will all be over soon kid. Get some rest."
--
"You were trending! Good job today Shoyou!"
He just got back to their dormitory and Shouyo was just tired. Physically and mentally. He just smiled at Atsumu ruefully as he removed his socks by the living room.
"Thanks Tsumu."
"Aww… it's been a rough day, ain't it? Sleep it off. We don't have any schedule tomorrow."
As much as he wanted to stay and chat with his member there, he also just wanted to lie down and just rot in his room. "I'm sorry Tsum, let's talk in the morning?"
"It's fine man, no worries. Call me if you need anything, 'kay?"
Shouyo gave his friend a side hug before retreating back to his room. His fans may think of him as gross that he didn't shower before bed but he just didn't have the energy to.
His emotions went haywire when all these fiasco happened, especially earlier. Seeing Tobio smile at him like that again. There was a familiarity that he didn't want to feel.
"C'mon Shouyo. It's all over. You ended things with him already. Stop being like this."
At the darkest corner of his room, as Shouyo lay on his bed, everything came crashing back to him.
That night, where they were by the ocean as a small getaway. They planned it ahead and Shouyo was so excited. It had been a while since he had solo time with his boyfriend. Four years into their relationship and they have had a fair share of bumps on the road. Especially when they are keeping their love a secret to the world.
"It feels like I haven't seen you in a month when I was just with you in yesterday's guesting." Shouyo started, skidding towards Tobio to close the distance that had been slowly wedging in between them.
"Yeah. We haven't had any down time huh?"
Shouyo hummed in response, enjoying the cool breeze whipping his hair a bit. He settled beside his boyfriend and laid his head on his shoulder.
"I missed you."
Silence.
"Babe?"
"I think we need a break Shouyo."
He couldn't believe what he just heard. His heart was aching like something was squeezing it tight. Eyes watered and his hands were shaking in panic.
"Wh-what? A-are you b-breaking up with m-me?"
Tobio jumped into comforting his boyfriend, seeing the trembling body of the other.
"No! No of course not! We're just going to pause for a bit."
"But why?"
The raven heaved a large breath. He had been wanting to tell Shouyo the offer he got from an agency. It was the answer to his dreams.
"I got a proposition. I was invited to become a part of a new group under Shiratorizawa Ent."
Shouyo frowned in confusion. He doesn't understand. Million things went on in his head at that moment.
"What does it have to do with our relationship?"
"They have a strict rule of no dating for three years. If they find out we're together, that would end my career Shouyo."
"But we're good at hiding! No one knows about us!"
"But what if they do? I can't risk that!"
It dawned on Shouyo. So this was it?
"So you can risk me?"
"No! We'll get back together. Just after the dating ban. Shouyo, babe. I love you."
"I still don't understand Tobio."
"I don't expect you too! But please, please trust me."
Those words hurted more than asking for a break. It felt like his whole being was insulted. His own dreams and aspirations. The hard work he put in.
"Of course I won't understand. It's because I won't be able to do what you can right?"
"What? That's not… That's not what I meant!"
"Alright. Let's take a break."
