Chapter Text
This request for Emma Verde/Kanata Konoe was made by Marionette Kuromi. For you, I hope you enjoy this wild ride.
Also good god, why do you people kudos me when I haven’t updated this in months? Thanks for your support, I guess.
Weekends were made for relaxation and fun. For a certain girl, emphasis on “relaxation.” It was a rare weekend that not only had the absence of school idol activities but also was just the two of them: Emma and Kanata.
The two decided for this weekend, they’d spend time together at Kanata’s house, partaking in mundane activities-anything to relax themselves from school idol activities for the time being.
In the kitchen, Emma had finished preparing a snack which was merely steamed dumplings. Neither of them had that big of an appetite but they thought to eat something so they wouldn’t go hungry.
“Kanata~ The dumplings are ready!”
One second...two seconds...three seconds…
“Kanata?”
Five seconds...six seconds...seven seconds…
Emma leaned her head back a bit and sighed. It wasn’t hard for her to guess that her friend was taking a nap again as she always does.
She sauntered over to Kanata’s room to find the completely unsurprising outcome: Kanata sleeping. Of course. She was sleeping without a care in the world with the sun gently warming her with its rays and her soft snoring filling the room.
After staring at her for a few seconds, Emma’s eyes were drawn to an isolated part of her body: Kanata’s left hand. Emma also noticed that Kanata was positioned close to one side of the bed which left a space open for her. The space itself became inviting with its hand facing its palm upward as if asking to be held.
Her face flushed red after a bit. Well...maybe the dumplings can wait.
Slowly, she moved to the bedside and then tucked herself next to Kanata, holding her isolated hand in the process. Slowly, she closed her eyes as she took in the warmth of the afternoon sun that was penetrating the window sill next to the bed.
Ka-boom!
“Eh?!”
Emma’s eyes popped open to find herself standing in the middle of a downtown intersection illuminated by streetlights nearby. She threw her head backwards to find that it was nighttime. Having little time to digest the scenery, she heard another sound of an explosion, this time coming from her left.
She darted her head that way to see that a store had its doors blown off its hinges. Curious but also wary of the potential danger, she dragged her feet to move herself closer to the bedroom store.
“You shouldn’t be here, Emma.” A familiar voice sounded directly behind her.
Emma quickly whipped herself around to see Kanata standing there. But...she immediately noticed something unusual about her. Her face had that of someone who was determined, ready to fight, and confident that she’ll win. Her outfit also was that of a leotard that was as yellow like her hair with a cape that was amber colored.
Emma’s jaw dropped. There were a lot of things she wanted to say but the words wouldn’t come out as she was simply too jarringly shocked.
“You’re in danger as long as you’re here, Emma. You need to get away from this place.” Kanata sternly told her.
“Wh-What does that mean? What’s going on?!” Emma managed to squawk out.
Kanata shook her head at her, “I’m in the middle of trying to capture a villain who seeks to destroy all existing mattresses! You’re standing near their most recently destroyed target! A mattress store!”
This...can’t be happening, Emma thought to herself.
“But it is happening,” Kanata said a second later, as if responding to her.
“You can read minds?!”
“No, but it’s easy to predict what you’re about to say since I know you well. Anyway, since you’re here...you’re coming with me.” Kanata extended her hand out to her.
Emma’s eyes looked at that hand while feeling sweat dripping down her face.
“It’s okay, you trust me, don’t you? I need to keep you safe from the villain who seeks to destroy all the planet’s mattresses.” Kanata then gave her an inviting smile.
Emma swallowed and then slowly took Kanata’s hand. Kanata smiled and gently shook their hands together. “Emma…”
“What?”
“Emma…”
“Emma~ Wake up…”
Emma shrieked and planked up on the bed, sitting absolutely straight.
“Eh~? What’s the matter with you…?”
“I-you-superhero. Mattresses…” Emma stammered, unable to form coherent thoughts after realizing she really just dreamed of Kanata in a leotard with a cape on a quest to stop a villain from destroying all beds.
“Hmm?”
“I’LL GET THE DUMPLINGS!” She leaped out of bed and started sprinting out of Kanata’s bedroom.
It was the sleeping beauty’s turn to be utterly confused, now. But thinking about what questions to ask was already starting to tire her back out.
She’ll ask Emma once she wakes up from this next nap...whenever that’d be.
