Chapter 5: Chapter 5

Chapter Text

Paul

The ride back to Discovery is making me nauseous. I keep rubbing circles on my… on my bump and slowly take deep breaths in and out. When I open my eyes I see that we are arriving at Discovery.

“Thank God,” I mutter.

Once I felt the ship settled safely down. I got up and went over to the doorway.

“Can’t wait for the stares, again." I say as I walk off the ship.

“Michael, Tilly. Look, I'm sorry for snapping at you. Too much new information.” I explain.

“That’s alright sir, probably also has to do with your horn…”

I shake my head, indicating for her not to say anymore. She got the hint.

“Not that it’s not nice to see you both, but I think I know my way to engineering,” I say.

“Actully Captain Pike wants you to go to sick bay to make sure, it’s save enough for you…”

“Is that really nesersay, I can just wear some protection gear. I don’t need to go to sick bay.”

“Think of Ros’ie,” Michael says.

“Mmm, fine,” I groan as I make my way to sick bay. “I do know the way guys, you don’t have to follow me. Shouldn’t you be fixing something?” I shout at the two ensign’s who are staring at me. So it begins.

“The captain said we needed to stick by you,” Tilly starts to explain.

“Look.” I stop to turn to face them, Tilly having to take a few steps back. “Just because I'm… I'm pregnant, does not mean I need a pair of babysitters. So Michael, you can tell the captain that and Tilly I will meet you in engineering.” I then continue on with my journey.

With them not following me, I make a detour and head to the mess hall. While the food on the Xyllian ship is flavourble, I have been craving chocolate cake, and if I am right, there should be hardly anyone there.

And as usual I am right. Going as fast as I can, I order my cake and take my seat. I must have been lost in thought, because next thing I know, a person in white is standing in front of me.

“If you wanted something to eat, you could have let Tilly or Michael know so I could have been seeing other patients,” Hugh says, with his arms crossed.

“Sorry,” I say with my mouth full, which seems to bring a smirk onto Hugh’s.

“Well, you’re lucky there weren't many people down there.” Hugh then takes a seat. “How are you doing?” He asks.

Besides being forced in the same room, this has to be the longest we’ve stayed in the same room by choice.

“Well, okay as i can be. Still having trouble getting over the fact that I have a bump, a proper pregnancy bump.” I stab the cake and took another mouth full.

“I don’t think anyone was expecting this sudden transformation, but on the plus side human pregnancy we know, we just have to figure out the c-section with the doctors…”

“There’s another thing I should mention, and god this is embarrassing.” I groan into one hand whilst the other keeps feeding me more cake.

“What’s that?”

No one is around, but I still feel the need to whisper to Hugh that I have a....

“Oh,” He looks at me, and then looks down there, before releasing what he is doing and looks back at my face. “Well, i’m still reckon a c-section might be safer, but we’ll see how it goes. You know if you have any question you don’t feel comfortable enough to talk about, you can alway talk to me, right?”

To be honest, i didn’t think i could talk to him, but maybe, even if we never got back together, maybe we can be friends instead?

“Thank you.” I take my last bite of my cake.

“All right then, shall we head to sick bay so you can see your other babies.”

My eyes widened, “Oh god, I had completely forgotten. We need to go.” I say as I try to rush but give myself a stitch.

“Take it slow, it’ll be okay.” Hugh says as we walk together to sick bay.

Hugh

I didn’t need to ask where Paul would be. Paul has always had a sweet tooth and now with the pregancy, I’m not surprised he was in the mess hall. But now we are at sick bay, with Paul lying on the bio bed with his shirt pulled up as I began the scan.

“All right, here we are.”

I watch as Paul turns to see the baby within his stomach.

“It looks weird.”

“Paul! It’s still developing. Everything looks good do you want to send this to the doctors for Ros’ie to see?” I ask.

“Please, now.” He pushes himself up. “I better check on my forest.”

“Of course, if anything happens or just wants some medical advice I'm always here.”

Paul gives me a small smile. “Thank you.” He says before he makes his exit.
