Chapter Text
The shock generated a wave of panic in him. Yoh could barely process what the ring in his hand meant, he had even lost his voice after shouting her name aloud. He didn't want to know how Anna would react to the news. She didn't have the slightest idea of what was happening around her. Anna just clung to the pillow so vehemently after hearing him speak.
“Arg! Shut up!” She exclaimed with the little conscience she had. "Let me sleep, Idiot!"
Shut up? Jeez, he couldn't even speak anymore, he couldn't remember anything at all. He was simply terrified at the very idea of being married to his sister and more considering the circumstances. They… No… that must be a joke. And one so bad.
Okay, he was already awake. He tried to smile, expecting that at any moment a buffoon or presenter would come into the room to tell him it was part of a stupid game. They were in Vegas after all. Nobody took what happened there seriously. But the more time passed, the more afraid he felt. Not to mention the fact that he felt no garment now that he had sat up in bed to gaze at the view.
They weren't even in their hotel room. This looked more like a marital suite with petals scattered on the carpet. And the shape of the bed didn’t help to disguise the occasion. This couldn't be happening to him. He couldn’t. He didn't even know how they got to that extreme.
“Bullshit!” He yelled loudly.
But the problem wasn’t the way he had said it, as the volume in which he pronounced that curse. Anna was, and he must have anticipated that, a temperamental woman after a night of drinking. She must have had a severe migraine to sink her face further into the cushion, trying to suppress her urge to hit him, but her anger was stronger. And against all odds, she woke up in a rage only to slap him.
Yoh trembled, not only from fear but from the sudden attack.
"What the hell! I told you to let me sleep, Asakura!" Anna exclaimed loudly.
Without stopping to notice the conditions in which she did it. Yoh was not only surprised, but embarrassed, it could be seen with total clarity in his face because he held it with real determination, trying to avert the gaze that fell unconsciously on her exposed breast. Did he want more proof? Well, Anna didn't have any clothing either.
But she was so busy cursing in her mind about the excessive noise, that for an instant she ignored the chill that pricked her bare skin. Still dazed, she gazed at the silhouette of her brother sitting on a huge bed of… heart? Every single minute, she became aware of her strange surroundings and how a light blizzard brushed her skin.
It was mere inertia that made her cover herself with her arms when she discovered that she was naked in front of Yoh. But that wasn’t the worst part, especially when she noticed that he was in the same condition. Maybe Yoh was a little more incredulous, but she wasn't. Anna didn’t have to be a genius to resolve the algorithm that both were living.
“What did you do?!”
It was the first thing that came out of her mouth fill of horror. And it is that despite living it at first hand, he didn’t believe what was happening.
She wanted to cry the second everything clicked into her mind, even she had sent the stupid headache to hell. Nothing seemed more important than the fact of being naked between the sheets with whom she had considered the most reliable man in her life minutes ago.
Yoh noticed the fear on her face, the vulnerability and anger pulsing through her veins. He knew it, he also felt that heaviness in his heart. And pursed his lips, Anna was expecting an answer, but to be honest he didn't have it.
“Anna, I…" He tried to touch her arm.
The blonde slapped his hand in the brief attempt, rejecting all contact.
“Did you rape me?" She said with an effort, silencing the great fury she felt. "Tell me why you did this, Yoh! Why!”
It was inevitable when tears began to fall on her face. Some of sadness, others of disappointment and in some remote place of helplessness. And the worst thing is that he felt exactly the same. He wanted to, he really wanted to explain to her, but he couldn't, he had no memories of the night. Except for the drugs, the impetuous way her brother left the casino, Ren sleeping at the bar. That was all.
Nothing to satisfy her hunger for information.
But there was only one thing that he was one hundred percent sure of, regardless of the conditions, no matter the circumstances.
“Anna, I would be incapable of hurting you," he said with an effort, trying to hold back his crying. "I swear I don't know what happened."
Anna released one of her arms to punch his face. He felt the fury, the anger with which her hand twitched, but before she could even touch him, Anna stopped. She tried again, but she just didn't dare. Maybe not out of fear of hurting him, but rather because of not stopping once she will start hitting him. The blonde wouldn't know when to stop and despite everything, she hated having to slaughter him, specially loving him so much.
Then she noticed the ring in her hand. A diamond adorned the jewel on her finger.
Regardless of her nakedness or his, she greedily sought his hand as well, freezing instantly when she could see the same attachment.
“Married," she concluded with heavy breathing.
He tried to reply, but the words weren't coming out of her mouth so fluently.
“Anna, I… I don't remember anything. I swear to you, I don’t have any idea what happened, I… I'm exactly like you.”
Anna violently threw his arm away as she scooped up the sheet that rested on her hips. Actually, she didn't care that there was nothing covering him, all she wanted was to be away from him. Explanations or more details were unnecessary. Once she got up from the bed, her body perceived a slight burning in her crotch and the humidity emanating from her. It was not necessary to go into details to verify that not only had their lives joined, they really had a wedding night.
“Please, Anna…" he said, moving quickly in front of her.
She just raised the palm of her hand to silence him.
“And I swear to you, Yoh, if you don't walk away of me right now, I'll hit you so badly that even your mother won't recognize you," she said dryly, brusquely wiping her tears from her.
He was silenced for a moment, seeing the fortress and the slightest dark touch on her words.
“But… we have to talk," Yoh replied in a soft tone.
“Speak? And what the hell do you want to talk about ?!” She said pushing him aside. "According to you, you don't know what happened, or why we 'accidentally' got married. So, as I see it, it is useless to talk to you. It's a waste of time.”
“I’m just as confused as you are," Yoh answered, approaching. "Anna, please, I don't want to lose you."
She sighed heavily, trying at all costs to suppress the broken feelings she had at that precise moment.
“And you expect me to say that I forgive you and that everything will be as before, and that we will fix things? That everything will be alright?”She pronounced sarcastically. "No ... listen to me well, every minute you spend near me, every damn moment I have to see you makes me erase every stupid cute moment I've had with you. Because, listen to me well, nothing is going to be the same again! You slept with me, Yoh! You married me! How do you expect things to be as usual! How!”
“I don’t know!”
“Then why the hell don't you go!" She screamed desperately. "Get out! I want to be alone.”
It was an option, but he wasn't even considering it. She took the bathroom door handle to escape once and for all from that humiliating situation.
“Anna, I know you hate me. I hate myself too, but I swear to you…”
He didn't even finish the sentence when she received a slap on the right cheek from her.
“Enough! Just leave me alone!” She exclaimed, giving a new blow to his cheek. "I want to be alone. I don't care if you go out into the hall, or if you wait in the lobby, just leave me alone.”
He breathed hard, but knowing her as he did he could deduce that she needed space not only to vent but to regain at least a little of her modest. He nodded, stepping away from her to let her into the bathroom. No more words were worth exchanging, she had said it herself, it was useless considering the little information he had about it.
But not everything was bad. Considering that she had only hit him a little, he felt lucky to breathe, despite the bad drink her blonde was having. Yoh took his shirt off the floor and began sorting her clothes into a pile. Indeed, her dress was there, albeit in tatters.
His face took on a reddish hue at the thought of how desperate he had to be for that beautiful garment to end that way. Seconds later, his grief was replaced by heavy regret. How they had come to that state, how he could even dare to touch her. And it didn't matter what kind of substances they were dealing with, it mattered the subconscious and the way he had acted without restraint.
He was a monster.
“A vile and damned monster," Asakura reinforced, leaning against the wall to finish admiring the mess in the bedroom.
Yoh never even imagined that things would turn out this bad. Anna was right, things could never be the same.
He dressed quickly and searched the desk for the notepad, taking the room key in passing. He greedily wrote a message and then just left the place. He didn't want to cause Anna more pain than she already had on her shoulders, but he couldn't leave her alone either, after all ... they were still brothers.
