Chapter Text

After a week of sitting around by the air conditioner and some motivation, Whitty and Carol had finally unpacked the last few boxes in their new place.
That evening, they were tired, and feeling particularly hungry. Carol, however, had an idea.
"Hey, you hungry?" She asked nonchalantly, looking at her boyfriend for an answer. He nodded tiredly, "Yeah, sure, I can try and scavenge us something if you wa-" "Scavenge?" Carol stopped him abruptly. "Y-Yeah? How else are we supposed to get food?" He asked innocently. Carol only snickered in response. "By ordering food, silly. I can always just order something." "Order? Like, make someone get food for us?" He tilted his head. "Yeah!"
Whitty sat there confused, wondering what else he could make people do for him.
Carol pulled out her phone and began to look up nearby places to order from. "Whaddaya want?"
"...Food?"
"No, silly! I mean what kind of food do you want? There's burgers, pizza, burritos, all kindsa stuff."
"Oh, uhh.. aren't burgers those little sandwiches that nice people give me?"
"Maybe, only one way to know for sure, though!"

Whitty stared intently at Carol's phone. He remembers mobile phones because he saw the Greater Good using them often. He wasn't so skittish about it, however, because he saw normal harmless passerbys using them too.

"...What else can that thing do?" He asked curiously as he leaned back.
"Oh, my phone? It can do a lot of things, the new modern era of technology sure is convenient, huh?"
Whitty made a thoughtful expression as he pondered what it could do.
"So it can call people from really far away.. and it can make people bring you food.. what other things can it do?"
"Well, you can play games, read things, watch videos.. take pictures.. lots of things!" She grinned.
"Hmm..."

Twenty long minutes passed as they waited for their grub. A knock at the door caught their attention, and Carol immediately dashed for the door, anticipating some delicious food waiting for her.
Whitty watched with anxiety as she answered the door, but nothing alarming happened, Carol was simply talking to someone from the outside and was handed something. She came back with two greasy paper bags and a gluttonous grin plastered on her face.
"Food's here!" She smiled as she set the bags down and dug through them, pulling out round objects wrapped up in some kind of paper. Judging by the familiar looks of it, it seemed to be the burgers she mentioned before.
"SUNDAY! FOOD'S HERE!" She shouted towards the hallway, which emitted a stumbling sound in response. Moments later, a tired looking Sunday emerged and sluggishly scooted towards the food laid out on the table, grabbing what was hers and retreating back into her room to eat in peace.

After some setup, the two of them laid back on their soft couch, flipping through the TV channels and unwrapping their fresh fast food. Whitty looked at his wrapped food with curiosity, unwrapping it slowly and revealing his food. He looked at his burger with wide, gleaming eyes. The look, the feel, the smell of the food brought him a bit of nostalgia. He remembers the few burgers he's had in his lifetime, and boy, they were the best thing he's ever had in his life. He savored the flavor of each greasy burger he had in the past. Knowing he could willingly make people bring it to him whenever he craved it made him excited.
After finding a suitable channel, they dug right in and enjoyed their burgers in hand. Whitty looked visibly satisfied with each bite of his burger, knowing this was gonna be the best moment of his life next to that date night with Carol.
Whitty finished his burger relatively quickly, a happy smile on his face. He looked curiously at the soda and fries, though, and were curious about those since he was still a bit hungry.
"Hey, what are these?" He picked up a fry and observed it. It was greasy like the burger, and a bit grainy from the salt, too.
"Oh, those are French Fries, they're just potatoes cut and fried to look like that. They're pretty good, you can have them if you want." She spoke through eating her burger, enjoying it as well.
He bit the fry, tasting it, realizing it tastes great too. He grabbed more and shoved them in his mouth effortlessly, enjoying the taste of greasy salty fast food fries.
Whitty also tried his soda, which surprised him at first since it felt like tiny fireworks in his mouth. After a moment, though, it felt pretty mundane. It tasted good to him, though, and he enjoyed every sip he took.

By the end of it all, they were satisfied and sleepy. They sat there on the couch, staring at the TV.
"Pretty good, huh?" Carol asked Whitty, who seemed a lot more relaxed.
"Yeah, that stuff's an experience, alright." He grinned as he took a sip of his near-flat soda, which was almost empty. "Probably the best food I've eaten in years."
Carol grinned, looking back at the TV.

"What else can we order from people?" Whitty asked.
