Chapter Text
Kakashi stretched his arms and glanced over at Sakura. They’d been hanging out on their own a lot more lately, something that hadn’t gone unnoticed by the others. What had started as one late night dance practice to teach her Krump had turned into a daily routine and a time of his day he began to look forward to.
He thought it would bother him at first, but it didn’t. He liked hanging out with Sakura, teaching her to dance, walking home with her and talking about all sorts of things, texting her on his free time.
He liked dancing with her and watching her move like she was now.
Even Obito and Rin noticed because Genma had no issues telling them about it. They had been the ones to take him aside and have a talk. They had been the ones who pointed out something he’d rightfully been ignoring.
He could no longer pretend Sakura was someone he saw as just a friend.
He liked her, and if she wanted to, he wanted to be more than friends with her. He wanted to tug her close to his side as they walked back to her dorm, he wanted to be the one to push that pink hair of hers behind her ears, he wanted to be able to know that he could touch her, hold her, without second-guessing things.
When Obito and Rin had first pointed things out to him, he’d ignored them. He’d even ignored Sakura actually, making excuses about his work with Jiraiya taking up his time when it wasn’t. Instead, in that week where they only texted back and forth, where he didn’t see her, he realized something.
There was no point in denying how he was feeling.
He just had to do something about it if he wanted.
So he continued with their private dance practices, watching her and teaching her, but being afraid to make that final move and ask her to... something.
Something that was more than dancing, like maybe dinner or coffee.
Right now though, his eyes were riveted to her as she cued up the track he’d been teaching her, watching her step and stomp, twist and turn, dance the movements he’d taught her. Sakura was a brilliant dancer, and he liked to see her dance. She had a natural talent for the art, and Kakashi was able to admit that she was a fairly good student.
Even if krump was definitely outside of her comfort zone, she’d picked up on the dance style and learned the basics and steps with zeal.
She stomped perfectly, the jumps and twists of her feet were in perfect synchrony with the beat, and he was honestly surprised when she got every single chest pop he’d taught her and incorporated into the dance’s choreography.
Her pink hair flew around her face, some strands escaping her ponytail. Her chest was heaving from the exertion, and her eyes glittered with passion.
When she finished, with one final stomp, she had a huge smile on her face.
He walked over to her, watching her straighten, push back those pink bangs behind her ears and place a hand on her racing heart. She grinned brighter as he approached, the smile taking over her face, her green eyes glinting with happiness.
“I did it!” She exclaimed. “Everything! I got the chest pops right, didn’t miss a stomp or a turn or anything!”
“You didn’t.” Kakashi acknowledged stepping closer into her space, so close he could see his own face reflected back at him through her eyes.
She averted her eyes to the floor. From here, he wasn’t too sure if the pink on her cheeks came from the dance routine or the blush. He hoped it was a blush. That meant something right?
“Guess our dancing practices are over then, huh?” She asked.
Kakashi shoved his hands into his pockets, clenching them into fists there. “They don’t have to be.” He told her, taking a half step back to give her some room. “I could always teach you something different, or you could try out for the team next semester.”
Sakura shot her head up. “What?”
Kakashi shrugged, and, this time, he was the one to avoid eye contact. “You pick up the moves well, and it wouldn’t be too hard to incorporate you into the squad. The rest of the folks like you anyway, and you’ve been to enough practices to know what we’re like.”
“Oh.” Sakura rubbed a hand down her arm. “That...that sounds nice.”
They stood there in silence for a bit, neither knowing what to say, when Sakura’s cellphone rang. She looked towards the table where she’d set it down, jogging over to pick it up.
“Ino?” She asked when she picked up. Kakashi watched her frown at whatever was said, brows furrowing, fingers tapping a rhythm on the table. “It’s LDOC and you’re going to spend it doing what? No, no way, am I joining you. You can do what you want, but I’m going to relax before the reading days start.”
Sakura huffed and turned to glance at him, rolling her eyes while pointing to the phone with her hand. “Fine, but drag Shikamaru or Choji. Hell, take Sai for all I care. I know he’ll get you home safe.” She pushed another strand of hair behind her ear at whatever Ino said. “I...are you sure? Fine, I’ll think about it okay, and I’m on my way back now alright. I’ll be able to see you before you leave. We just finished practice, so I’ll be there in what-- 20 minutes tops.”
She waited to hear whatever it was that Ino had to say before she nodded and hung up the phone, staring down at it with a sigh.
“LDOC Party?” Kakashi asked.
He’d never been to one himself, not really seeing the need to, but Obito and Genma had enjoyed every single one of them back when they’d been undergrads. Things hadn’t changed too much for him to not know that.
“Yeah.”
Sakura sighed as she began gathering her phone and keys, slipping them into her coat pocket and then shrugging it on. Seeing her, Kakashi walked over to the table, pulling his own sweatshirt which lay on a chair next to her, over his head. He snagged the scarf he always wore in the winter, a frayed yellow thing, and wrapped it around his neck, pulling the ends up to cover the lower half of his face.
“A mask and a scarf?” Sakura asked, buttoning up her coat. “That’s a bit much isn’t it? And are you leaving too?”
Kakashi, who had gone to get his phone unplugged from the speakers, nodded his head. “I am. I’ll walk you to your dorm. Wait for me.”
Sakura reached into her coat, pulling out the gloves she always wore because her hands were perpetually cold in the winter. “You don’t have to. It’s not too late.” She told him, shrugging them on her fingers.
Kakashi pocketed his phone and walked back over. “I want to.”
He watched the emotions play out on her face at his words: surprise, then acceptance, and something that he couldn’t place. She tugged her other glove on, then smiled at him.
“Well then, what are we waiting for?”
He led the way outside of the Student Union’s dance room, past the first throng of late night crammers during exam season, past the students planning one last party for the school year. They were hit by a blast of freezing cold air when they stepped outside, breaths fogging up as they turned to face one another.
“Long or short route?” Kakashi asked, shoving his hands into his pockets. It was cold, and his sweatshirt was barely warm enough.
“Long is good.” Sakura answered, heading to the stairs separating the union and the upper and lower quads. “Coming?”
They walked in silence, next to each other, elbows brushing occasionally, some dry leaves crunching under their feet, the cold air settling around them. At some point, Kakashi wondered about what it would be like to not see her again for a while. Break was almost a month long, and the thought of Sakura being missing from his life for such a long time didn’t sit right with him.
But, he thought, glancing over at her as they continued walking, maybe he didn’t have to wait so long to see her.
Konoha was home to Sakura, meaning she’d still be in the city. And Kakashi, who had no real family to speak of save for his roommate and Gai would be around in the city too.
Perhaps, he thought, they could spend time together over break too.
They came to the hill that housed her dorm, and Kakashi, as was the norm, held out his elbow to Sakura. She smiled in thanks at him as they trudged up the path, sore legs getting another workout. When they reached the top, he tugged her closer for a second, then abruptly let go.
“Kakashi?” Sakura asked, one brow raised. “What is it?”
She made no move to leave, to go those few steps towards the door that led into her dorm building. Instead, she stepped in front of him so that he could see her, hair illuminated by the small streetlight right outside the building.
Well, he decided, it’s now or never.
“Do you want to maybe hang out together over break?” He asked with one hand rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
Sakura stared silently at him for a long time.
Ino had told her, on the phone earlier, that today was the day Sakura had to act if she wanted to do something.
“Today’s your last practice before break right? If you want to make a move, I say do it now.”
She had told Ino she’d think about it, but Kakashi making the first move was unexpected and meant she really had to consider her friend's words now.
And well, maybe ask for clarification too because she wasn’t going to spend another few weeks guessing or calling Ino to ask for her opinion on things.
“Are you asking me on a date, Kakashi?” Sakura asked carefully.
Kakashi shrugged his shoulders, leaving it up to her to answer. If she wanted it to be a date, he wouldn’t say no. If she preferred that it wasn’t, he’d be fine hanging out with her like they still were.
“Okay.” She said after a few moments, deciding to just go with Ino’s advice and take matters into her own hands. No more playing around or beating around the bush for them. No more trying to guess what Kakashi’s actions and words might mean.
She stepped closer, head tilted as Kakashi gazed down at her, hands in his pockets, scarf pulled up to hide his face. She tugged at one end, not enough for the scarf to slip, but just enough to make sure his attention was focused on her. She smiled shyly, a small rosy hue starting to dust her cheeks.
You can do this, she reminded herself.
“Today was LDOC.” She started, fingers playing with the frayed ends of his scarf, “and my last exam is on the 14th.” She took a deep breath, letting go of his scarf and pushing some strands of her pink hair behind her ear. “It ends at three. If you want to, we could meet for coffee afterwards? Or something?”
Kakashi huffed out a relieved laugh, feeling something in him ease at her words. “Or something?” He parroted, hands leaving his pockets. One reached out to snag one of hers squeezing once before letting go. December 14th was ten days away. That wasn’t too long.
“Or something sounds good.” He said. “I get out of a meeting at five. We could have an early dinner?”
Sakura smiled, blush still on her cheeks. “Yeah, early dinner sounds good.”
She pulled away, walking backwards towards the door to her dorm, calling out to him as she did so, a part of her giddy, but still needing the verbal confirmation. “It’s a date then. On the 14th at 5.” She swiped her flex pass, opening the door, but not going into the building just yet. Her eyes met his.
“I’ll see you then?”
Kakashi nodded, waving a hand at her, ushering her inside. “Yeah.” He answered. He smiled, lowering his scarf just a little. “Good luck on your exams.”
She nodded, deciding she had prolonged the moment enough, and turned around, fleeing into her building, not looking back at all to see where Kakashi stood. She made it to her dorm room in record time, the elevator on time for once, smiling giddily as she entered it. Ino raised an eyebrow from where she sat at her desk doing her makeup and getting ready for the LDOC party.
“What’s got you so happy?” She asked Sakura as she began to dab lipgloss on her lips.
Sakura giggled, shedding her coat and boots. “I’ve got a date.” She told Ino. “With Kakashi. on the 14th.”
Ino shrieked, partially in excitement, partially because Sakura’s comment surprised her so much, she’d smeared lip gloss on her cheek.
“Sakura!” She squealed as her roommate began to strip out of the clothes she’d worn to dance practice, leaving her in only her underwear.
The pinkette ignored her as she walked over to her dresser, picking out comfortable clothes to wear to bed after her shower.
“Sakura, you can’t just leave me like this!” Ino continued as the pinkette grabbed her bag of toiletries. “What happened?” She demanded as Sakura snagged her towel off the door, slipping it around her and leaving the room.
She heard Ino’s shout behind her as she entered the suite’s bathroom. “Sakura! You’re going to give me the details one way or another, I tell you!!”
Well, she mused as she entered the shower, she likely would. But Ino didn’t have to know that.
* * * * *
Sakura was a mess on the 14th. Ino had left for home two days ago, though not before she’d approved Sakura’s date outfit. She’d put together an outfit consisting of Sakura’s long boots and olive green sweater dress, telling her that if she had to, black leggings were the best option for something to wear under it.
She twisted this way and that in front of the mirror, before sighing and acknowledging that her friend had indeed picked out a good outfit: something comfortable to wear on a first date, but something cute too. She nodded to herself, then reached over to snag the black leggings--like hell she was going without when the weather report said it would upper 30’s tonight--and slipped them on, then walked over to the shoe corner and hobbled as she slipped her boots on.
A quick check of the time had her shouting out an expletive as she snagged her coat and scarf, forgoing checking for gloves in her coat pockets as she usually did. Two minutes later, she jogged down the hill to where Kakashi stood waiting, hands in his own coat, that yellow scarf of his wrapped around his face.
“Hey.” She managed out once she neared, suddenly unsure of what to say.
Hi didn’t seem right. But then again, it did.
Why was she acting like this? She’d been on dates before. There was no need to overthink things.
“Hey.” Kakashi replied, easing some of her stress. She smiled at him, and he reached out, brushing some of her hair out of her scarf.
“So…” she started not sure what to say, but needing to say something. Her brain latched on to the last text he sent her. “Your meeting with Jiraiya went well?”
“It did. Our paper was accepted by the Journal. It’ll be reviewed in January, and then we have to make edits before it gets published in the March Edition.” His hands went back into his pockets. “How were your exams?”
“Not bad.” Sakura answered, shivering a little when a gust of wind blew. She’d put on her black fleece lined leggings, but cold was cold regardless.
Kakashi’s eyes narrowed, and he hesitated for just a second before extending his arm out. “I promised you dinner didn’t I?”
Sakura felt herself relaxing. This was the kind of banter she was used to with Kakashi, the normal everyday talk. This didn’t feel stressful, or awkward, or have any of the worries that she had thought would be there for a first date. She placed her arm in his and let him lead her along, hoping that this meant the date wouldn’t be so bad after all.
“Yeah you did.” She replied, letting him lead her into campus. “So, where is dinner?”
“It was going to be at Obito’s restaurant,” Kakashi answered, glancing over at her, “but they don’t open till six. And I don’t know if I’d like to deal with Rin and Obito’s teasing.”
Sakura laughed. “Of course not. Though, if it wasn’t for that, then that restaurant isn’t a bad choice for a first date.” She hummed as they continued walking, one of the Christmas songs that was always blaring at this time of year. “So, what are your other ideas now that your first one is out?”
“Ah,” Kakashi’s free hand drummed against his pants, “I was thinking that maybe I could make us dinner?”
Sakura stopped walking, eyes wide. “You cook?” were the first words out of her mouth.
Kakashi shrugged his shoulders, the action jostling her arm. “Yes? I know it’s not exactly first date material, but I was out of options, and the only places I really go to are Ichiraku’s and Obito’s.”
Sakura bit her lip.
Ino would be all over this. She’d tell Sakura this was proof, definitive proof, that Kakashi was and had been into her, if he was letting her into his space like this. But, she wondered, wasn’t it rather bold of Kakashi to suggest dinner at his place on the first date?
Or, she realized, taking in the rapidly reddening flush to his cheeks, the way he seemed tense and worried about her answer, he’s just as clueless as you about how to make this date go well.
“Okay.”
“Okay?”
“Yes okay.” She tugged her arm out of his and put it on her hip. “Okay, let’s have dinner at your place. Are we walking there?”
Kakashi’s eyes widened, and she giggled at how comical he looked. He nodded and grabbed her hand. “It’s a bit of a walk, so if you get cold, let me know.”
Sakura twined their fingers together. “I will.”
They spent the walk talking to each other like they always did, the comfort and familiarity of their friendship bleeding into it and easing them. And every now and then, when Kakashi’s hands gave hers a squeeze, Sakura pushed herself a little closer to his side, shot an extra smile his way because she now could.
And because she liked the thrill that it gave her, that overwhelming feeling of happiness, of wow, this is really happening.
“So,” she stated as they crossed the last street separating his apartment from campus, “I assume if you’re inviting me to dinner, Yamato’s not home?”
Kakashi nodded. “He’s got a night planned with Genma and Gai. Took the car too, hence the walk.” He let her hand go to dig his keys out of his pocket, swiping them into the warm building.
The instant warmth was cozy, and Sakura felt her eyes turn slightly watery at the difference in temperature. She stomped her feet a few times and started to shake her hair. It had started to snow on their walk, flurries drifting down to settle on the pavement and roads, some catching on their coats and hair. Neither of them had minded though.
“Whatever snow landed on you is already melting.” Kakashi told her, opening the door to the stairwell, to lead her up the stairs to his second floor apartment. “So, you don’t need to do that.”
“You sure?” Sakura asked, as they walked inside, reaching out to adjust his scarf and swipe away a few snow flurries on it.
Unlike usual, Kakashi wasn’t wearing a mask underneath the scarf, and her actions caused it to slip down to reveal his smooth, shaved face. She blinked, eyes wide, fearing she’d committed a faux pas.
She didn’t know why Kakashi wore his mask, but it was obviously important to him that his face was hidden.
Not that she could understand why, with a face like that.
“I’m sorry.”
The words tumbled out of her as they stood in the stairwell: one face bared in front of the other for the first time, the other quickly averting her eyes and shuffling her feet, hoping that she hadn’t derailed the date plans before they’d even started.
When he was silent for a long time, Sakura peeked up at Kakashi, waiting and watching to see what he would say.
Kakashi seemed unsure about himself. The scarf still lay pooled around his neck, a yellow swath of fabric on his shoulders. Finally, his hands moved.
Instead of pulling the scarf up though, they tugged Sakura closer to him.
Her green eyes took in his whole face: the mole near his jaw, the scar around his eye, the smile that started appearing on his face.
“Well,” he finally said, sighing, “I was going to show you my face at dinner, but I suppose this is okay too.” He looked away for a moment, shoulders hunched up, nervous. “It’s just something I was unprepared for though.”
“Oh.”
Sakura didn’t know what to say to that. But she knew how to show him she cared that he’d thought to share this with her, that he didn’t want to hide his face from her if they were dating. It made her feel special, wanted, trusted.
She moved one arm, reaching up to trace his face, pleased when he didn’t move or shy away.
“You have a very nice face.” She told him. “Shame you hide it.”
“Yeah?” He asked, blushing a bit, smiling wider.
“Yeah.” She murmured as he tugged her closer.
The door to the stairwell banged open then, causing them to start as someone came pounding up the stairs.
“Ugh, get a room!” The stranger grumbled as he pushed past them.
Sakura and Kakashi stared at him go, and then burst out laughing, the humor of the situation catching up to them. After a few moments, Sakura tugged his scarf back up, and his eyes crinkled, letting her know he was likely smiling again. He tugged her hand, leading her up the stairs in quick movements, pushing open the door to the second floor and taking her down the hallway to apartment 206.
They stumbled through the door, melted snowflakes in their hair, cheeks rosy from the cold. Kakashi pushed her against the door, leaning forward again, tugging his scarf down as he did so. One cold hand angled her face up to his, the other cupped her neck.
She waited with baited breath for him to kiss her.
Neither of them noticed the trio standing in the open plan living space, in the kitchen, staring wide-eyed at the sight.
“Well, damn, it’s about time.” Genma whistled.
Startled, Kakashi pulled away from her, and Sakura squeaked, whipping her head around to stare at the men in the kitchen. Genma leant against the refrigerator holding some drink in his hand. Gai and Yamato, standing much closer together than Sakura would have expected, simply continued staring until the pot on the stove suddenly boiled and hissed.
Gai turned his attention to it, and Yamato moved away from him.
“Congrats?” He moved out of the kitchen, past Genma who did something that caused him to squeal, blush, and glare at him over his shoulder. “I didn’t know you would be coming back early Kakashi.”
Kakashi flushed, pulling his scarf back up to hide his face. “Yeah, I didn't expect you here either.” He stated a little frustrated.
So far, the date he’d hoped for hadn’t at all gone to plan.
He turned to glance at Sakura to see what she would have to say. Sakura simply pushed her pink hair behind her ear and smiled at him, using his arm as support to take off her boots. He raised a brow, and she shrugged her shoulders. She was still embarrassed, quite a bit too, at having been caught in the way they had the second time around, but she figured they might as well make the most of it.
Kakashi had promised her a warm dinner after all, and even if the plans might have derailed a little bit, there was nothing to stop them from still seeing through some of it.
“You did promise me dinner at your apartment.” She reminded him as her boots thunked onto the floor. “And well, I don’t see why that can’t still be an option, if it’s okay with you all?” She turned to look at the three men.
Gai grinned and waved. “Well, I did make extra curry anyway.” He answered, looking questioningly at Genma and Yamato.
Genma grinned. “Yeah, yeah, you can stay. Might as well tell us how you and Kakashi got together anyways.” He told her. “And we’ll leave later, yeah? So you two have time to yourselves.” He added a wiggle to his eyebrows.
Kakashi threw something at him, she wasn’t sure what, and Yamato sighed, shaking his head at their antics. He took her coat and hung it up along with her scarf as Kakashi turned his attention back to her and did a sweep of her from head to toe. Ino was right, she realized, the green dress was the right choice based on his appreciative look.
“Nice dress.” Genma called out turning to the fridge. “What do you want to drink Sakura? Got some water, wine, and beer here. Wine courtesy of me of course.”
“Water’s good.” She called out, feeling a little overdressed suddenly.
These were all men who’d seen her in sweats and t-shirts most of the time. In her dress and leggings, she felt a little out of place.
Kakashi snagged her hand again as Yamato made his way back to the kitchen. He moved closer to whisper into her ear.
“It does look good, you know. That dress.”
Deciding to take a page out of Ino’s book for once, she winked, feeling bold for the first time that night. “I know.”
Together, the two of them made their way to the kitchen. There, as Kakashi tested the waters by bringing his arms around her, they chatted with the other three, comfortable and familiar and friendly again. It was true they were figuring out their own relationship, had barely even tested the waters of what it would be like if they dated, but here, in his apartment as she spoke with Yamato while Kakashi and Genma carried on a conversation with Gai, as she relaxed against Kakashi and felt his warm body against hers, everything felt... right.
It felt comfortable.
And yes, it also felt exciting, knowing that something she’d wanted for a while now was within her reach.
She felt Kakashi’s hand brush some of her hair off her shoulder and turned to look up at him, missing the knowing glance that Yamato shot Genma and Gai as she did so.
“Good?” Kakashi asked softly.
She smiled. “Yeah, good.”
Dinner was filled with flaming mouths and copious amounts of yogurt and ice cream passed around, Sakura taking more than her fair share. Genma ended up dragging his boyfriend and Yamato out for pizza afterwards, leaving Sakura and Kakashi alone in his apartment.
“Sorry about dinner.” Kakashi moved to pull open a cupboard and reveal a wide variety of snacks. “I can offer you snacks if you’re still hungry.”
Sakura shut the fridge door, where she’d stored the extremely spicy curry and walked over to him. She pushed past him, delighting when Kakashi moved out of her way but let his arm fall around her again, hand resting on her hip. She rooted through the packs of chips and chocolate covered peanuts and walnuts not finding anything tasty.
Well, if she was being honest, the ice cream had been filling enough anyway.
“Are you hungry?” She asked, hand lingering on the cupboard door.
“No, not really.”
She shut the door to the snack cupboard closed, and then turned, Kakashi giving her the space to do so. “So...what now?”
Kakashi ran a hand along the back of his neck again, the other still resting loosely on her hip. “I don’t know?” He admitted truthfully. “I was thinking of relaxing somewhere, but …” he pointed at the living room which housed a dining table and nothing else. Sakura winced.
“You know, if you expect me over, a couch might be a good investment.” She told him.
Kakashi tugged at his scarf, still worn around his neck, but down around his throat, face free to be seen again. “Yeah, but then everyone would be over, and Yamato and I like the peace.” He hesitated, then spoke again.
“We can snuggle on the bed?”
“Snuggle?” Sakura asked, craning her neck to look down the hallway.
“Just, you know, stretch our legs, read a book, maybe talk some more?”
Sakura smiled, feeling herself melt at the nervousness on his face. Yes, the date hadn’t turned out the way she’d expected it, nor were either of them sure what they were doing completely, but the idea of just laying down next to Kakashi, snuggling up as they spoke of random nonsense or scrolled on their phones and found funny cat videos to show to each other was appealing.
“Do you have a warm comforter?” Her hands came to tug at one of his. “Cause these leggings are starting to itch, but I don’t want to get cold.”
He laughed. “Yeah, I do.”
Kakashi took her down the hall and into his bedroom. The bed was small, but cozy enough, and Sakura liked it. Besides, that comforter did look warm.
She excused herself to the bathroom and emerged a few minutes later, leggings balled up in her hand and set down on a chair in the room. Kakashi stood by his bed waiting for her looking a little unsure.
She pulled parts of the comforter away and climbed onto the bed as elegantly as she could in a sweater dress, shooting a glare at Kakashi when he laughed at her. Once settled, she patted the space next to her already huddling under the warm blankets. Kakashi settled in beside her, tugging the comforter up to cover both of them, leaning on one elbow to look down at her.
“You know,” she said as they relaxed, “you still have to walk me home after all of this.”
“Do I now?”
She grinned, nodding, her pink hair framing her face on his pillow. He reached out to run his fingers through it, the way he’d been thinking about doing for days, and she relaxed into his touch, shuffling closer, her cold feet hitting his under the comforter.
“It all started when you took me home didn’t it?” She told him referencing their first walk that day she’d pulled a near all-nighter in the library. “You walked me to my dorm cause it was late and you were a safe walk buddy. We might as well commemorate the end of our first date that way too?”
He laughed, the sound warm and comfortable, the two of them relaxing even further and finding the moment warm and right. “I suppose we should.” He glanced at her phone on the bed next to her, noting the time. “But, I think we have time. It’s not even ten yet. How about we enjoy a late night walk a little later?”
Sakura reached up to thread her fingers through his hair, running her other over his smooth uncovered face, still not over the novelty of seeing it that way yet.
“Sounds good.” She murmured, bringing him down for a kiss, this time finally uninterrupted.
And then they stayed up late watching cat videos and dancing videos, Sakura eventually nodding off on his shoulder.
She threw a book at Genma the next morning when he catcalled her and asked her if she’d spent the night, but she snuggled back into Kakashi nonetheless, when he offered her a change of clothes and a drive back to her dorm.
And well, maybe she didn’t get that late night after her first date after all, but that didn’t mean there wouldn’t be more with Kakashi in the future.
