Chapter Text
After what seemed like forever, class was finally over for the day. Natsuki darted down the stairs to her clubroom. She was the first one there, just how she liked it. Natsuki headed into the closet to grab one of her mangas, she prayed as she walked in that monika hadn't put it up on the top shelf where Natsuki couldn’t reach it. Believe it or not it was slightly embarrassing asking another clubmate to reach up and grab a cutesy looking manga about girls who like desert. To Natsuki's relief however, her manga was still on the bottom shelf right where she had left it the day prior. Natsuki trailed her fingers along the spines of the books until she reached the one that she was in the middle of reading, the spine read “Parfait girls! Volume 12! Sugar Rush!”. Natsuki pulled the book off the shelf and opened the page to where her bookmark was placed. After about 5 minutes Monika and Sayori came into the clubroom chatting,
“Oh hey Natsuki! I see you’re early again” Said Monika
“Either that or you’re just late again!” Said Natsuki with a smirk
Monika giggled and turned back to her conversation with Sayori. Soon after Yuri entered giggling, Natsuki’s head rose from her manga, god she loved Yuri’s laugh, it was the cutest thing to her. Behind Yuri was M/C, talking and laughing behind her. Natsuki quietly grumbled to herself. It wasn’t that she didn’t like M/C, it was just that he always hogged Yuri’s attention, the attention that she wanted from Yuri.
Yuri Noticed Natsuki next to the closet with her nose buried into her manga. She smiled
“I’ll talk to you later M/C” said Yuri
“Hm? Alright see you when it’s time to share poems” Said M/C
Yuri walked over in Natsuki’s direction. Natsuki was not prepared for this, yeah sure! She wanted her attention but she was not prepared.
“Hello Natsuki,” said Yuri, crouching down to meet Natsuki's level.
“Hey Yuri!” said Natsuki
“Hey Yuri”? Seriously? God she’s gonna think you’re some kind of dry coverationest! Natsuki thought to herself
“Do you mind if I sit with you? The chairs have been making my back sore I think.”
“Hm? Yeah! Sure! Take a seat!”
Nice! Now you look desperate! Idiot… thought Natsuki
Yuri smiled and slumped down next to Natsuki, Natsuki felt her cheeks grow hot and flushed so she hid her face deeper into her book. Yuri peered over Natsuki's shoulder to see a bunch of girls in desert themed outfits fighting some kind of ice cream monster.
“What are you reading?” Asked Yuri
Natsuki looked up from her book
“Oh! It’s called Parfait girls! It's basically a story that follows this group of girls who make desserts and also fight desert themed monsters!”
Yuri smiled, she liked hearing Natsuki ramble about the things she likes. She didn’t get to do it often, Natsuki for the most part was pretty reserved and only really talks to Sayori and M/C. To be honest, Yuri was pretty sure Natsuki didn’t like her. The two of them were known to get into small arguments about stupid things such as, wether or not manga was literature, meanings of poems, baking and other really pointless stuff. So it was nice when the two of them were able to sit and have a nice conversation.
Eventually, it was time to share poems. Monika called the group together and assigned people to share poems with
“M/C and Sayori can exchange poems and uhm, Natsuki and Yuri can share poems!” said Monika
Great, and just after we were having a good time thought Yuri I’ll just have to be careful about what I say about her poem today. Yuri never intentionally hurt Natsuki’s feelings, she would either give compliments or constructive criticism that Natsuki would take the wrong way and that would stem into back and forth arguments that would result in Sayori having to break it up by validating both their opinions.
“You ready Yuri?” said Natsuki holding up a light pink notebook
Yuri hummed in response pulling out a piece of paper from a grey binder.
The two of them exchanged poems and began reading.
Yuri looked down at the page.
-Woooaaahhh cool poems…..I’m sorry y'all will have to improvise here just imagine it's very vaguely written about Yuri. I can’t write poetry for shit, I barely passed my poetry unit in english class-
Yuri looked up from the page,
“Wow Natsuki! This is really well written!”
“Wait really?” said Natsuki
“Yeah! It’s definitely not something I’d expect you to write”
The minute those words left Yuri’s she knew she fucked up.
“H-Hey! What’s that supposed to mean?!” Natsuki sputtered
Fuck…. Thought Yuri
