Chapter Text
"Okay, do you have your pen? Your notebooks? Your phone and—"
"Kei-nii, stop it. I have all of it already," Izuku insisted. Keigo was overly frantic. The hawk could not help it as it was the owlet's first day of school. He would be a failure to him as a brother if Izuku had forgotten something. Maybe he was over exaggerating.
"Okay okay, I'll stop." Keigo let out a small snicker. Izuku clicked his tongue then sighed but curled his lips after. Keigo then surprised him with a hug with his hands and wings. Izuku was surprised but hugged back.
"I'm proud of you, Zuku," Keigo said. Izuku smiled at his words. It really changed his life. Now, he was going to be a hero in training. His dream would come true. "Thanks, Kei-nii. I would never have done it without you."
"Oi! You chickens should stop that! We're gonna be late!" Bakugou came out of the front door yelling. Keigo chuckled and broke their hug off.
"Okay okay, Kacchan." Izuku rushed to the front door with Keigo.
Keigo dropped them off at the front gate of the school earning a bye from Izuku and a silent thanks from Katsuki. There Izuku could see the towering building of UA. The sunlight was reflected brightly on the glass windows of the building. "Come on," Katsuki said elbowing his elbow. That got Izuku out off of his long stare at the magnificent building. Today was Monday, March 12th, 2198. There was so many students Izuku could see. Some were their age and mostly were upperclassmen.
They reached the floor where their classroom would be. They walked at the long corridor. At their right was the glass window wall. The main building of the school was on the top of a hill and so he could see the buildings and houses far off from the distance.
He turned his attention back to where they would be going. Katsuki who was in front of him stopped and looked at his left. Izuku turned to the left and saw a giant door. Perhaps it was for accessibility. There might be students with a gigantic quirk.
The door features their homeroom name 1-A in a dull pink color and it was plastered on the door vertically. The door seemed to be a sliding door as it had no doorknob but a dent.
Katsuki wasted no time and slid the door open. The two saw the inside of the room.
"Put your feet down!" a guy with glasses ordered a boy with literal gun-like machines on his shoulders and whose feet was on the desk.
"Huh? What about it?" the other boy replied. His aggressive face rivals Katsuki. The boy had black short hair and yellow eyes.
"It's so disrespectful to do such an act! We are in the land of UA and you should have manners!" the boy with glasses replied. The boy was tall and had dark blue hair and eyes. His calves had pipes on it. Katsuki heard Izuku mumbled "engine."
"Eh? What's your junior school anyway?" the yellow-eyed boy asked. The blue-eyed fixed his glasses and said, "my name is Tenya Iida." He put his hand on his chest. "And I'm from Somei Private Academy."
"Oh? So you're one of those elites? It would be so good to crush you," the yellow-eyed replied with a smirk. Tenya looked horrified. "Crushing? Do you intend of being a hero?" The yellow-eyed scoffed and rolled his eyes. The two turned their gaze to the front door.
The whole class' attention turned to the front door from the two arguing. Katsuki could see their eyes focused behind him. He would not blame them. Izuku's wings was very eye-catching.
Katsuki held Izuku's wrist and dragged him to two vacant seats at the back. Good thing that Izuku had the ability to shrink his wings voluntarily or else it would be hard to adjust his wings on his seat.
"Takami-san, I'm glad you made it," Yaoyorozu spoke from Katsuki's left looking over Izuku who was on Katsuki's right. "Yeah. I'm glad you made it too, Yaoyorozu-san!" Izuku said.
Iida went over to Izuku. "Hello, my name's Iida Tenya!" Iida offered him a handshake. The green-eyed shook it. "Takami Izuku. Nice to meet you." Iida turned to Bakugou who raised an eyebrow.
"My name's—"
"I know Sonic. I heard it," Katsuki said nonchalantly. Izuku hit him on the shoulders giving him a small glare while Iida looked horrified. Some snickered silently at the name.
"How could you say that to me!"
"Kacchan! It's the first day! Don't be rude! Sorry about that Iida-san. Kacchan likes to give people horrible nicknames," Izuku said with his hand on Katsuki's shoulder.
Before Iida could reply, the door slid open. A caterpillar-like figure stood at the door frame. Izuku realized it was man in a yellow sleeping bag. "The class started but you kept talking for 8 seconds." The zipper opened and revealed a man inside. A man with long black hair wearing a black suit and multiple white scarfs on his neck. Katsuki glanced at Izuku and the winged looked surprised. He would not be surprised if the nerd knew him.
"That act was unbecoming of a hero. You should not waste time." The man put the sleeping bag in a corner and went to the teacher's desk. "My name's Aizawa Shouta and I'm your homeroom teacher."
Their homeroom teacher? Katsuki noticed Aizawa lingered his gaze to Izuku for a bit then turned back to the class.
"Follow me and wear your PE uniform. We have something important to do." Izuku and Katsuki gave each other a glance before following the teacher's orders.
"Eraserhead." The blond heard the winged mumbled. "Yup. The nerd knows him."
They were now outside of the building. Specifically in an open ground area outside of building. They were close to the edge of the area and there Izuku could see white lines and circles on the ground.
"We'll be doing a quirk apprehension test," Aizawa announced . They were confused. "A test? Should we be at the opening ceremony?" Uraraka asked. Aizawa was facing behind them.
"Unlike most hero schools, UA has a free-style of teaching. I will teach this class the way I see fit. We should not waste time to such occasions and get to the bottom of it," he turned his body to see his class.
"This test will be the same as you did in your junior years. You're becoming heroes after all and you all should not waste your time." The class did not reply.
Aizawa walked to a white circle on the ground. "Katahou," he called the boy whose shoulders were literal guns. "You have the highest points at the practical portion of the entrance exam. What's your highest distance on ball throwing?"
"67 meters."
"Do it again but with your quirk," Aizawa showed a ball in his hand, "stand inside the circle." Katahou walked to the circle and went inside getting the ball from Aizawa.
Katahou was facing behind them but they could hear soft metal clanking and see one of his guns on his shoulder shape-shifts. He put the ball inside the gun and put his feet behind him kneeling a bit.
"DIE!" the gun fired and it launched the ball up high.
"Katahou is just like Kacchan."
"In this test you'll take, give it your all just like what you will do if you become a hero you dream of," Aizawa monologued as they watches fell to the ground.
Aizawa was holding a phone and it showed a number on it. He turned to the class and it showed it. It said that Katahou reached 659.5 meters. They wowed at his result. Katahou smugly smirked as he got back to the class and Katsuki was composing himself not to explode.
"Is this what UA looks like?" a boy with enlarged elbows said amazed.
"As to be expected on UA! We can use quirks as much as we want!" a boy with red hair exclaimed.
"This is so fun!" a girl with pink skin tone cheered.
"It looks fun, huh?" he faced the class, "you have three years to become a hero. Will you have an attitude like that the whole time? All right," he turned away from them, "whoever comes in last place in all eight tests will be judged to have no potential and will be punished with expulsion."
"What!" they said horrified by what he said.
"We're free to do what we want about the circumstances of our students," Aizawa wiped his hair out of his face, "welcome to UA's hero course!"
They were silent for a moment. Their hearts beat a million times per second.
"Last placed will be expelled?" a girl by the name Uraraka Ochako exclaimed stepping forward, "but today's the first day of school! No, even if it wasn't the first day, this is too unfair!"
"Natural disasters, big accidents and selfish villains. Calamities whose time or place can't be predicted and it's always unexpected. Japan and other countries are covered with unfairness. Odds are not always with you. Heroes are the ones who reversed those situations. If you wanted to go talk with your friends at Maki Diner after school, too bad. For the next three years, UA will do all it can to give you one hardship after another. Go beyond. Plus Ultra. Overcome it with all you've got."
Iida fixed his glasses and drank his water bottle. "So this is the most prestigious school in Japan. Then there's no time to waste my strengths."
Katahou smirked. "Heh, that's not all I've got."
Aizawa then faced behind them and walked a couple of steps forward. "Alright, demonstration is over. Let's start the real thing. Remember, whoever places last is expelled."
They gulped.
50-Meter Dash
They students must run fifty meters straight. They were assisted by a robot that looked like a camera and had wheels. It will record their performance.
The first two who would take the test was Iida and a girl with long green hair and with her tongue out of his mouth. She resembled a frog. Her name was Asui Tsuyu.
"Ready. Get set. Go!" the robot announced and Iida ran with his calves boosting him to the end. The girl leapt to the finish line. Iida finished by 3.04 seconds and Asui by 5.58 seconds.
Iida Tenya
Quirk: Engine
He had boosters on his calves for him to run faster!
The second pair was Uraraka and a blond man with a tail. His name was Ojiro Mashirao. "Okay. Make my uniform and shoes weightless," she said as she touches the things as her hands glows in pink.
"Go!" The pair run at the announcement. Despite her uniform being weightless, she was still beaten by Ojiro. The tailed man finished by 5.48 seconds and Uraraka by 7.15 seconds. "I must run faster!"
Uraraka Ochako
Quirk: Zero Gravity
She could turn anything and herself weightless! Although, she would start to vomit when the mass passed her body weight.
The third pair was the pink girl and a boy with bright and dazzling aura. Was that part of his quirk? The two went into their position.
"Everyone, you're not being creative enough," a guy with blond hair and sparkling eyes spoke. Unlike the pink girl who was facing to the finish line, he was facing backwards. "I'll show you what it's like," he jumped and from his support item where his belly button should be, a laser came out it that it propelled him backwards, "to be allowed to use your quirk!"
However, despite his propulsion of his laser pushing him, the laser stopped and fell to the ground. He yelped. The pink girl catched up. The boy stood up and tried again.
The boy was Aoyama Yuga and unfortunately, his time was 5.51 seconds. The pink girl was Ashido Mina and her time was 4.98 seconds.
"I can't exactly use my quirk continuously. It gives me tummy aches." Aoyama was bright and sparkly.
"What the heck." Some were weirded out by Aoyama. Izuku meanwhile was highly interested and Katsuki heard him mumbling.
The fourth pair was the two best friends Izuku and Katsuki. Katsuki stretched his body and Izuku enlarged his wings. The wings was so large it caught the attention of the others.
"Ready. Get set. Go!"
A loud boom exploded on Katsuki's palm. "Explosive Turbo!" Katsuki propelled himself with consecutive explosions. Izuku however took flight fast as possible. He flapped his wings so hard that it launched him fast.
Despite of the size and flap of his wings, the students noticed that the wings was silent. They might have thought it was Katsuki's explosions that silenced his wings. It was lour after all.
Katsuki finished by 4.13 seconds and Izuku by 3.87 seconds. Izuku gave him a smugly smirk and Katsuki scoffed rolling his eyes but the green-eyed saw his lips quirked.
Bakugou Katsuki
Quirk: Explosion
He could sweat nitroglycerin and he could make it explode!
Ball Throw
The students finished grip strength, standing long jump and repeated side steps. Now it was ball throwing. Hagakure finished her throw with her result being 78 meters. Uraraka got the ball from Aizawa and went to the school.
Izuku and Katsuki were beside each other. "She'll get the highest score," the green-eyed whispered. Katsuki narrowed his gaze turning to his best friend with a raised eyebrow. "I think her quirk causes objects to turn off its own gravity."
Uraraka held the ball and her hand glowed pink. She threw the ball into the sky. As they watch the ball launched to the air, the trajectory seemed to be straight. Katsuki noticed the ball not curving down.
"Nerd," Katsuki said and Izuku snickered.
They waited for the ball to fall down. It had been five minutes. "It's probably in space by now," Izuku said. "Yeah, Round Face's score is infinite." Katsuki said.
"Round Face? That's an awful nickname!"
Aizawa then faced the class and showed the phone to them. "Infinite?" they all exclaimed. Katsuki winced at their exclamation.
Izuku elbowed Katsuki. "Yeah yeah." Katsuki stepped forward and went to Aizawa to grab the ball. He went to the circle. He held the ball firmly and throw it with a loud bang.
The boom sent small shockwave making the area windy. The ball launched so far and they watched it fall down. The phone dinged and Aizawa showed it them.
"705.2 meters?" Uraraka was amazed.
"Apart from infinity, That's the highest by now," Yaoyorozu spoke. Katsuki went back to Izuku. He glanced at Katahou as he walked and saw his face scowling. Katsuki smirked and Katahou got more angrier.
Izuku went to Aizawa and grabbed the ball. He went to the circle and enlarged his wings once again. "His wings is so big," Ashido spoke in amazement. Some nodded agreeing with her.
The dark bird named Tokoyami Fumikage was fixated at the situation. Earlier, the crow-headed boy noticed Izuku oftentimes staring at him. He was probably interested that there was a bird other than him.
"As long as I stay in this circle." Izuku flapped his wings up and launched himself high. Then he maneuvered himself to spin and he span very fast. "He's doing his move again," Katsuki said. Tokoyami glanced at him. "His move?"
As he was spinning descending down on the ground. Before he landed the ground, two things came out of him as he span. A feather carrying the ball. It launched very far.
Izuku then stood on the ground and closed his eyes. He was accelerating the speed of his feather more. It took a couple of seconds before Izuku opened his eyes as his reach on the feather was cut off. The ball with the feather fell to the ground.
A girl with earphone jack named Kyouka Jirou on her hears was confused as to why she did not there was almost no sound as he performed his ball throw.
Aizawa showed his phone.
"705.3 meters?" Sero exclaimed.
"POINT THREE? AGH!" Katsuki yelled. Izuku chuckled walking to the blond. "You beat me by point three?"
"L-O-L," Izuku smirked snickering.
"Don't L-O-L me! Agh! Seriously, point three and—"
"Hey!" A loud voice had been heard from the crowd. The next thing that happened was Katahou approaching the two. "I'm suppose to be the best!"
They did not like that. Katsuki growled. "So what? We beat your score and that's reality, you dipshit!"
A wave of cloth went to Katahou. It came from Aizawa whose eyes glows red and his hair levitating. "What the heck is this?" Katahou struggled to escape from the cloth.
"It's a cloth woven with a metal alloy. Great for capturing people like you. Stop this now, Katahou. That is unbecoming of a hero."
Aizawa Shouta (Eraserhead)
Quirk: Erasure
Allowed him to erase the quirk of a person he looked at.
Aizawa released Katahou. "Whoever's next must throw now. We have not much time." Katahou glared at the two and walked away. Katsuki rolled his eyes and whispered something Izuku could not pick up.
They finished the test. Aizawa gathered everyone for them to see their places on a hologram Aizawa summoned on his phone.

15. Aoyama Yuga
16. Sero Hanta
17. Denki Kaminari
18. Kyouka Jirou
19. Hagakure Toru
20. Mineta Minoru
"No! It can't be!" the boy with head having purple balls whimpered on the ground.
"Also, about the expulsion." Aizawa caught the attention of everyone including the last placed student. "The part of getting the last place expelled is a lie. It was a logical ruse of making you giving your all."
They were stunned.
"What!" they exclaimed. "Sensei! I was so nervous that I might be the last!" the invisible girl complained. "I thought I'd be dead!" Sero exaggerated. "Of course, it would be a lie. It's so obvious when you consider it," Yaoyorozu commented. "I didn't notice," Kyouka whispered.
Mineta brightened and jumped into the air. "Alright! Thank you, Aizawa-sensei!"
"However." Aizawa's voice turned ominous. They went silent immediately after. He was looking at Mineta with a deadly glare. "You're still expelled Mineta." The boy's face went back to its horrified state. "W-Why?" he stuttered answering.
"I will not tolerate such behaviour. Someone said to me that you were peaking at the girl's lockers as they change their clothes." The girls gasped and immediately moved away from him. The boys showed their disgusted faces. Izuku caught of glimpse of Katsuki smirking slightly.
"Th-They were lying! Please I didn't do it!" Mineta pleaded kneeling down with his hands clasped together.
"Video footages beg to differ, Mineta. Now, go back to the classroom and get your things. One of the heroes will escort you out of the building." Aizawa's gaze was narrow but stern. Mineta glances at all of them and hesitantly ran away crying.
When Mineta was nowhere to be seen. Aizawa faced the class. "Such behaviour like that will lead to an expulsion immediately. You have no potential to be a hero if you're like that. To earn someone's respect, you must respect them. If they're not being respectful and doing unspeakable things, report it to me or any staff of UA." They could only do was to nod.
"Class Dismissed."
The familiar sound of the bell rang.
"Welp, it seems the class is over. Class dismissed!" Present Mic got out of the room. Some followed the hero teacher out to the door while others stayed to pack their things at their lockers inside the classroom.
"Kacchan! Present Mic is so cool!" Izuku was hyperactive. Katsuki knew he would not stop his fanboy-ing energy until school hours was over. Izuku was too much of a hero nerd. "Yeah, yeah." Soon, the entire class got out of the room. It was lunch time and they were hungry.
They reached the cafeteria and it was noisy. There Izuku could see the upperclassmen and other first year students from different courses. They went in line to get their food. Izuku picked rice, raw meat especially beef and pork, and miso soup. Izuku was a predatory bird and his older brother made sure to inform the school that he would this kind of diet. The school however was already doing that as there were students who had specific diet. Katsuki just picked rice, spicy curry and a glass of water.
They wandered for a bit and Izuku saw someone that he wanted to talk to. Katsuki just shrugged and followed the bird to what table they would sit on.
"H-Hello! Umm, can we sit?" Izuku asked the boy. It was Tokoyami. "Uhh sure."
"Thank you!" Izuku and Katsuki sat. The owlet was directly in front of the crow. "It's nice to have a fellow bird to talk to. Can we be friends!" Izuku awkwardly suggested. Before Tokoyami could answer, a dark figure came out of his stomach. It had glowing yellow eyes and its head was shaped that of Tokoyami's crow head.
"Yes, Takami-san! We can be friends!"
"Dark Shadow!" Tokoyami called in embarrassed. Izuku beamed at the sight. "Is that your quirk? I've always wanted to meet a sentient quirk! Is he like your inside best friend?"
Tokoyami was blushing. Katsuki was just watching them as he ate his spicy curry and rice. Izuku then scratched Dark Shadow's chin below and he purred. Izuku was glued of how the shadow purred. He stopped after receiving a little whine from the shadow.
"Dark Shadow, get back now," Tokoyami asked calmly and the quirk pouted before going back in. "Dark Shadow is a cute one," Izuku commented.
"I'm sorry the way he acted, Takami-san."
"No no, don't worry, Tokoyami-san. I actually like him. Has he been in there since you were born?" Izuku asked continuing to eat hus lunch. Tokoyami continued to eat with a similar diet to Izuku.
"No, he manifested when I was four. I was so confused and scared back then. Dark Shadow just showed up out of blue during my sleep," Tokoyami replied.
"I could imagine that. A shadow just loomed above you as you sleep. However, he's actually nice and cute. I like him, Tokoyami-san."
"Th-Thanks," Tokoyami replied. They went silent for a bit as they continued to eat until Tokoyami asked the other bird.
"Takami-san, may I ask, you're a recommended student, correct?"
"Yeah?"
"I've been curious of who recommended you. It's okay, if you don't answer it. It's not my place to know." Izuku furrowed his head confused. "I thought you knew?"
"No, I didn't. Why would you think that?"
"My family name is Takami. I expect that my name would give it away of who recommended me. To end that curiosity, I was recommended by Hawks, my older brother."
"Well, I'm not really surprised your recommended by Hawks — but your brother?" Tokoyami was wide-eyed. "Well, technically, he's my adoptive brother. He adopted me when I was nine, I think."
"Adoptive? Intriguing. Were you in the foster system?" Tokoyami asked bluntly and realized it. "Oh sorry! I didn't mean to ask that."
"No no, it's okay, Tokoyami-san," Izuku said chuckling. Tokoyami noticed Katsuki glared at him. "If your curious, my parents weren't all that great. Kei-nii saved me from my parents trying to sell me from a villain," Izuku nonchalantly said and continued eating. Tokoyami was wide-eyed again. "I'm sorry about that."
"No need to apologize, Tokoyami-san. I'm all safe now. I have Kei-nii and Kacchan," he patted Katsuki's shoulder, "with me."
Katsuki sent the crow a silent glare and Tokoyami knew what the message he was trying to say.
The last class of the first day of school was getting nearer. Izuku wondered of who was teacher of their last class. The school did not really gave their schedule until school hours would end. They said it would be a surprise.
Then the door slid open quickly and large figure came out of it a loud boom. "I AM ENTERING LIKE A NORMAL PERSON!" The student processed of they just saw and heard. "ALL MIGHT!" they yelled including Izuku. Katsuki was quiet but he was excited as well. Katahou looked like he was scowling.
"Hello 1-A. I'm your heroics teacher!" All Might announced.
"This is so cool!"
"All Might! You're so cool!"
"Heroics teacher? Hell yeah!"
The class had calmed down after a couple of seconds and All Might continued. "Our first lesson for today is Battle Trails!" Some beamer at that while Izuku titled his head confused. "Isn't that a little bit too early?" He turned to Katsuki left of him. The blond nodded with a shrug after.
"Now come! Follow me!"
