Chapter 7: Departure from Clarington-Fabray Estate

Chapter Text

Jesse St. Barnes was it? Or something like that. The guy was gorgeous and Blaine wasn't foolish enough to miss the way his lust-grazed eyes were drinking Blaine in. For some reason, the guy seemed reluctant to actually come over and talk to him. Blaine decided it was time to man up and take the first step himself. He gulped the last of his abandoned drink and made a move in the direction of the guy. Before he could even take a step in the direction he was halted by a hand grasping his wrist. The action was so abrupt that Blaine almost tripped. Blaine steadied himself and turned around with a look of annoyance on his face.

"What the hell! Sebastian?"

"Where are you going? Are you drunk?"

Sebastian wasn't in the least perturbed by his display of indignation. Blaine was thrown off a bit and stayed speechless for a minute too long before remembering the questions that were so casually asked.

"I am going over there" he pointed towards the corner of the Bar from where the hot guy was now frowning in their direction (more specifically in Sebastian's direction) "to chat that guy up and I'm not drunk (which was not exactly true), I only had one drink, thank you very much. Now please, would you be so kind as to let go of my wrist?"

Sebastian looked like someone had slapped him and Blaine could not for the love of God decipher what he'd done wrong. Sebastian moved his hand away as if burned but quickly regained a stern expression. Blaine decided to dwell upon it when his brain was sharper than it was at that moment and left.

The guy was practically beaming at him when he reached him . Blaine tried to gather his most blasé attitude like he approached guys in a club on a regular basis but failed spectacularly.

"Y..you look very familiar?" He stammered out nervously. Blaine cursed himself and blushed.

"I would hope so, Blaine Anderson. As I very well know who you are."

Blaine just stared at him with a slack jaw which in hindsight wasn't at all an attractive thing to do in front of a hot guy you were interested in.

The guy chuckled , looking at Blaine’s baffled expression and gave him a once over before talking again.

"Don't look so surprised, I follow the show choir blogs and always keep an eye out for rising talent - especially the ones that come wrapped up in such a beautiful package. I'm Jesse St. James, by the way."

Oh...

Blaine huffed out a nervous laugh, blushed to the root, racking his brain for all the info he had on Jesse St. James before shaking the guy's hand. Of course! The guy was the former star of Vocal Adrenaline. He was all over the blogs. That was roughly around the time Sebastian and Hunter were leading the Warblers. Blaine was about to take his hand back when he felt the guy's thumb graze over his knuckles before letting it go. Blaine couldn't help but preen under the attention.

"Yes of course! I'm sorry I had your name on the tip of my tongue. You're a legend. You were all the rage just a couple of years ago. Last I heard you left for UCLA.  Right ?"

"Yes, you're absolutely right! I finished my degree and am now starting up my own music production company."

"That's amazing. Sounds like a dream come true."

"Well it's still a work in progress. It's not as easy as it sounds when you're not born with a silver spoon in your mouth like your companion over there". His eyes darted in Sebastian and Hunter's direction and Blaine had the misfortune of following his line of sight. Sebastian was glaring daggers in Jesse's direction. Blaine flinched back at the intensity of his gaze . Jesse just smiled at his reaction.

"Your friend Smythe and I have some history. Maybe one day I'll tell you all about it ," he winked.

Blaine doesn't know how it happened, but the day had turned out to be not all that bad . He'd ended up with Jesse's number on his phone , hadn't he?  There was also the prospect for a potential coffee date.  It would be Blaine's first real date. Jesse was good looking, charming and a great performer. Blaine could do a lot worse. He should really give this a try. Tomorrow he would be out of the Clarington-Fabray household for good. Sebastian had been even more rude than usual by the end of the evening. He didn't know if it was because of Jesse , or something else. There sure seemed to be some bad blood between the two of them and the encounter was weird as fuck. If Blaine's being honest , he's not surprised Jesse didn't like Sebastian. Sebastian Smythe isn’t a very likeable person up close. He's an arrogant, entitled, pompous ass. He's almost sure that whatever happened between them wasn't Jesse's fault. Right? He really hoped Jesse wasn't one of Sebastian's exes. That would be really uncomfortable.

Seb POV

"I'm going to miss you, you know?" Quinn is leaning in for a kiss which Sam ferociously returns.

"Not. More. Than. I'll miss you." Sam is gasping the words out between pecks.

They've been at it for a while. If only Sebastian had a gun he would be very conflicted about whom to shoot first.

SAM- for having his tongue down his friend's (who's more like a sister to him) throat.

QUINN- for allowing this gag-inducing display to be prolonged.

BLAINE- for standing there and looking fondly at the obnoxious couple.

BLAINE- for wasting his breath on Jesse St. James. Of all the people in the world, it had to be him!

BLAINE- for pulling off those sex-on-a-stick moves with Hunter.

BLAINE- for being annoying as fuck and looking adorable , while being an annoying little shit.

BLAINE- for just standing there being all flawless with his perfect eyes, cherry lips and lush ass .

SEBASTIAN- for evolving from an emotionally-constipated dick to a mooning schoolboy.

He would have to shoot himself, he decided. He's happy though that Blaine is leaving. This means he will have time to get over this stupid ass crush. No good can come from this. He'll be going back to his real life soon. If he’s being real he can’t deny that he felt a connection with Blaine. Every time their eyes met it was hard for either of them to look away. The way Blaine defended him in front of his crazy friend certainly set his heart aflutter (Just a tiny bit...almost microscopic in fact negligible). It’s mostly embarrassing how much time he is wasting thinking about a schoolboy. Ohio really brings out the worst in him. He would have considered fucking Blaine out of his system, but somehow the thought didn't sit right with him. Great fucking time to grow a conscience. He rolls his eyes at himself in frustration. He doesn't know what it is that's different about Blaine, but the thought of Blaine ending up hurt leaves a bitter taste in his mouth. He knows he has to stay away, lest he ends up doing something he will repent.

He watches Blaine struggle with both of his and Sam’s Duffle bags as Sam was too busy sucking face with Quinn. Before Sebastian’s brain could start working, his body acted of its own accord and he rushed forward to help Blaine. The act startled not only Blaine but Sebastian himself. He schooled his features into an expressio n of annoyance to cover up the shock. What did Sam carry in his duffle anyway? Rocks? It was legitimately heavy. He threw the bag to the back of the car and went straight back into the house nodding once at Blaine as a goodbye. He didn’t think he could stand there any longer and watch Blaine leave , even if it was a good thing. He’s glad he'll have enough time to think it all through before the ‘Party’ that Blaine’s uncultured friends had coerced Quinn into throwing.

He still has time to decide whether he’s looking forward to it , or dreading every second.
