Chapter Text

Katsuki was finishing the last of his paperwork. The hospital had cleared him after his injuries had completely recovered and this was his last day of sitting around and doing nothing but writing on countless papers.

Katsuki was excited. Sitting around and doing nothing for two weeks had been extremely difficult for him to go through.

Also, he was in a very good mood today. Talking to Shouto last night before sleeping had made it very clear to him that he liked the doctor. The conversation they had repeated in his brain like a mantra and it made him feel light headed all the time.

The way Shouto talked with such a calm tone made Katsuki sure that he could listen to that voice for the rest of his life.

His thoughts were broken off with a knock on his door.

"Someone's happy today." Izuku pointed out as he walked into the office.

The smile Katsuki's face was adorning turned into an angry pout.

"Shut the fuck up."

Izuku gave a knowing smile as he sat down and continued. "So talking did help."

Bakugo crossed his arms. "Yeah, yeah. Want me to kiss you as thanks? Huh, shitty Deku?"

The greenette choked out a light laugh and shook his head which meant you can't change can you?

"What the fuck are you here for anyways?" Katsuki raised a brow as he clicked his pen shut after finishing the last of his paperwork and met Izuku's gaze.

"Oh! Yeah, I forgot. The joint mission with Endeavor's agency, did you receive the message of where we're stationed for the warehouse ambush?"

Katsuki grunted as a response. "Yeah, I did. So, it's tomorrow, huh?"

Izuku let out a nervous chuckle. "Kiri's been on edge. I won't say that he's wrong because he's not. The villains are dangerous. I'd be worried too if it was him going on this mission instead of me."

Katsuki clicked his tongue. "Well, that's what happens when you're a hero."

Katsuki was worried as well. He'd be lying if he wasn't. He knew how dangerous the group of villains were. If something went wrong, his parents, friends and coworkers would be devastated.

Now, there was also Shouto.

Katsuki was aware that Shouto used to worry about him. He wouldn't say that to the blonde's face but actions were enough to prove it.

He was afraid of leaving everyone behind but, this was his job. If this meant the villains won't cause anymore trouble and people's lives were safe, he would do his goddamn best for that to happen. That's what it was always about. Katsuki was going to win by saving.

Izuku nodded in agreement. "You're right. So, are you ready for tomorrow then?"

Katsuki smirked his signature grin. "I'm always fuckin' ready."

The heroes had been given the evening off to rest before their huge mission.

Katsuki took that as an opportunity to pay Shouto a visit. He knew the doctor had told him not to visit him during the time he was working but he couldn't help it. It had been a few days since Katsuki saw Shouto so who could judge him?

The door of the emergency room slid open and Shouto locked eyes with a smirking Katsuki. The doctor groaned in exasperation but Katsuki saw the little glint of excitement in his eyes.

"You could have just called me. I told you not to come here when I'm working."

Katsuki swung the office chair he was sitting on sideways. "Maybe I wanted to see you, pretty boy."

"I left a patient for this, you know?" Shouto countered.

"So, am I that important?" Katsuki mused even though he knew he all but forced the nurse at the reception desk to page Shouto saying that it was a life or death situation.

"You're an as-" Shouto was cut off by the door opening by his cheerful brother.

"Hey Shou, look who's..." Natsuo's smile turned into a confused frown as he mumbled, "...here."

Soon after, Touya walks in announcing his arrival. "Surpri--" His words died on his tongue on seeing Katsuki.

There was a moment of silence where the brother's eyed Katsuki up and down until Natsuo finally asked, "Uh, Shou? What is Pro-hero Dynamight doing here?"

"He was just visiting." Shouto started almost way too quickly which made Katsuki curious.

"I'm Katsuki Bakugou, nice to meet you." The blonde greeted with confidence as he walked over to Natsuo and Touya and stretched out his hand.

The two brother's grow silent once again. Then, they break out laughing.

"So you're Bakugou?" Natsuo choked out, tears were forming in his eyes.

Katsuki turns to Shouto with a puzzled but amused expression but sees the doctor completely frozen and face flushed a bright red.

"Holy shit, Shou! He's a blonde and a hero? I always knew we had similar tastes!" Touya exclaimed, now breathing for air as the brother's stopped laughing.

Oh.

Katsuki chose a good day to be here.

"Touya-nii, sto-" Shouto tried to speak but was immediately interrupted by Katsuki.

"I didn't know you talked about me to your brothers, Shouto." The blonde mocked. Oh, he was going to enjoy making Shouto all nervous and red.

Katsuki made eye contact with Shouto who turned his face away out of shyness, afraid to look him in the eyes.

"I don't." Shouto said in almost a whisper. His eyes were fixated on the ground.

His brother's replied simultaneously. "He does."

Shouto shot his brother's with a deathly glare which earned him his brother's doubling over on their laughter.

Katsuki saw the whole event unfold with amusement.

"So, Katsuki Bakugou, what brings you here?" Touya interrogated and Natsuo nodded his head, wanting to hear the answer as well.

"Just getting checked up by doc here." Katsuki answered casually while throwing a very obvious wink at Shouto. He was very well aware of how that answer could be taken in another sense.

Touya looked at Shouto comically. "Oh really now?"

Shouto exhaled in frustration. "That's not- anyways, Katsuki you were just leaving, weren't you?"

Katsuki took the hint and was beginning to say yes when Natsuo interrupted, "He can stay! I'd love to talk more with the person who finally snatched baby brother Shou's heart!"

If Shouto wasn't a bright red before, he was sure as hell now. He coughed to get his brother's attention. "We- we're just friends."

Touya tutted in a way someone would reprimand a child. "Ya know, that's what you're saying but your face is telling me a different story.." He pointed his index finger at Shouto, "... You look like a fucking tomato."

Shouto hid his face in his hands and muffled a small, "Stop it already!"

Katsuki huffed. He could literally smash his lips to Shouto's with how adorable he was being right now.

"I was just gonna leave anyways, huge mission tomorrow and shit."

Touya hummed in acknowledgement. "Keigo mentioned that too. Good luck, hope nothing goes too nasty."

"Yeah, thanks or whatever. See ya, doc!" Katsuki did a lazy salute with two of his fingers while walking out.

"I'll see you off." Shouto replied.

Katsuki raised a brow in question but decided to let Shouto come along.

The walk outside the hospital was quiet but comfortable.

As they reached the sliding glass doors, the Sun was almost setting. The orange sky was slowly turning into a purplish blue hue.

They stopped to say goodbye.

"I thought I was an asshole, did someone have a change of heart?" Katsuki teased while taking out his disguise from his jacket, a pair of sunglasses and a mask.

Shouto was looking hesitant in saying his next words which is why Katsuki held his breath and waited patiently. He was nervous of what the doctor had to say to him and a lump slowly forming in his throat.

"May-maybe I was wrong about you." Shouto mumbled while looking sideways. Another blush slowly made its way on his cheeks.

Katsuki internally sighed in relief. A victorious grin formed on his face. "Maybe you were."

Shouto lifted his face and met Katsuki's gaze. Red eyes were met with shining blue and grey orbs that managed to take Katsuki's breath away every time.

"Yeah, I was." Shouto whispered, not breaking eye contact once.

It was as if time had stopped. No one in the world existed except the two of them. Shouto and Katsuki. No one else.

Their moment had been broken off by the ringing of Katsuki's cellphone.

He took out the phone from his pocket and groaned at seeing Izuku's name appear on the screen.

Roughly pressing the answer button, he gritted, "You better have a good fucking reason for calling me, shitty Deku."

Immediately, Izuku's voice answered back.

"You need to come to Endeavor's agency now! The villains have taken over a high school, children and teachers have been taken hostage. Endeavor is dispatching heroes right now!"

Katsuki froze.

Children were in danger.

Not just one. An entire school full of children.

"I-I'm coming." Katsuki said before he abruptly hung up the phone and wiped his forehead that had begun sweating.

"What's wrong?" Shouto questioned. Katsuki startled as he forgot where he was for a moment. His mind was spiralling into negative thoughts.

"Fuck. I'm sorry, I have to go." Katsuki began walking out the doors.

A grip on his wrist made him stop. He turned around to see Shouto with scrunched eyebrows and his face had worry written all over it.

"Promise me you'll be okay." Shouto sounded desperate. Like his life depended on this one single promise.

The tension from Katsuki's shoulders momentarily drifted away and his face softened. "I promise."
