Chapter Text

“Hey, Deku? Can we talk for a second?”

Uraraka grabbed onto Midoriya’s shoulder. He jumped in surprise at the touch, as no one had really tried to comfort him. He’d been minding his own business the whole night, twiddling his thumbs in the corner.

He turned back to Ochako, “Uh, yeah, sure. What’s up?” Something in his tone was different.  Like it had been diluted.

“Are, uh, you alright? You seem like you’re upset,” She said, looking him up and down.

“Well, it’s not the best situation to be in. But I’m not too bad off!”

“I… honestly cannot trust that with how much you hide from me and the others. Feelings-wise anyhow.”

Izuku reeled back. Was he really losing the trust of his friends? After all this?

He hastily tried to reassure her. “No, no! It’s not that at all! I just… don’t really want to mention it too much.”

“Look, if something’s wrong, just talk to me! Or any of us! Please!”

“Mhm! I will, I promise!” Izuku took the free moment to envelope Uraraka in a hug in a small effort to comfort her. At least he thinks he did? Almost everything felt so fake to him.  Like he wasn’t even there.

“Hey if you ever wanna talk, just let me, or any of us know. We’re friends... right?”

The words left a stabbing pain in Izuku’s heart.  He said those exact words to Iida months ago, after his brother had been attacked. And Iida had said them back right to him, days before the Shie Hassakai raid. Now here he was, being told his own sentiment again, by the first friend he made at UA no better.

“Mhm… yeah.”  He pulled away from the hug and tried to put on a small smile. To show her that everything was okay!

Uraraka grimaced slightly at his forced smile before ruffling his hair and running off to comfort some of her other classmates.

They didn’t trust him? Of course he had been hiding things about OFA. What choice did he have? Sit there and pretend he wasn’t being targeted by the most feared villain in the nation? A villain under the tutelage of the man, the monster, that nearly brought All Might to defeat.  He had to hide things, otherwise he’d be putting his friends in danger. Or worse, making them worried for him.

They all had their own things to think about, so how could he even *consider* throwing them off like that?

What sort of insignificant, vile person would ever go so far as to-

Izuku felt his train of thought quickly derailing as he was dragged by the arm into another room and sat onto the floor.  By the time he had processed where he was, Bakugo was sitting right across from him, looking around his dorm room and watching Izuku's every move.
