Chapter Text
You sighed with too much force. It sounded like a stone dumped in a river. Just in case you did not cause unnecessary attention, you kept your eyes straight at the blur skirt of the sky in the night. So you did not need to answer the inquiring look and possible dry talks about what weighted your mind like ones Genji loves to give you.
But this time, you were here with Hanzo.
He side-eyed you and slowly took a breath before talking, “care for a drink?”
Then he saw your eyes widen in surprise and bewilderment. Hanzo frowned his eyebrow, “what?”
“You never invited me for a drink.” You almost sounded amused.
“Didn’t I?”
“No.” You confirmed.
Hanzo snorted while retrieving his sight to the silence of the night beyond you. “Well if you feel not interested then I shall-“
“No! No, I mean, come on, I’d love to drink with you. It’s just—flattered to me that you even asked.”
Hanzo huffed after a pregnant look.
“Come in. I have a pair of cups.” He turned around and entered the illuminated room, leaving the solemn dark behind his shoulders.
Somehow you just felt your heart was kindled with a touch of warmth. You followed him with light steps and winced on his way to reach the porcelain bottle on the shelf. “I am really glad to drink with you but I just wish we could have a better choice than sake.”
After finishing the sentence, you already knew that Hanzo would probably bark at you about “better choice” towards alcohol.
Instead, he just made a hiss and walked to the drink menu displayed next to a TV remoter on the nightstand. “What do you recommend, then?”
A grin grew wider on your face and suddenly you wanted to tease him in return for his noteworthy generosity.
“I recommend beers. My system can’t run on diesel. Sorry.”
Hanzo tilted his head from the menu and shoot you a death-threatening glare, spitefully, “Not a CHANCE.”
You let out a giggle, knowing that your little annoyance did the job just fine.
Besides, you really don’t think beers were that bad, were they?
