Chapter Text
It took Hawks another two months pseudo living with Dabi in the dark recesses of the city before the scarred man began to warm up to him. (All pun intended). The fire user began to actively start conversations, cook for the hero, and even wait up for him to finish patrols. All while teasing him to no end. Hawks was over the moon. The two months had cause him to realize that the man he saw as a villain was really, just a man who had been let down by the very hero Hawks had looked up to. The irritation he heard in Dabi’s voice whenever Endeavor was mentioned made it clear that something had happened between the two, but he never pressed for information. Instead he simply began to enjoy his time alongside the other.
Their days and nights together brought them closer. Sometimes it was a movie Hawks had chosen, playing while they ate dinner. Other times it was Dabi asleep on the couch because he wasn’t quite able to make it until Hawks returned from patrol at 6am. His dinner half eaten on the coffee table. But what came as a surprise was when Dabi had woken up later than morning, was Hawks was sitting on the floor, leaning over the edge of the sofa. His hand mere inches away from Dabi’s hand. And there was a blanket splayed across his lap that was not there when he fell asleep. ‘Good thing he got some sleep…’ he thought as a subtle grin crossed his lips.
Hawks had over worked himself that night. When he came home to see the darked haired man asleep he couldn’t help but smile and snap a photo for blackmail. Just in case. But, before he could rest he had to go bandage up. Refusing to let the other see the nasty bruises and cuts he had on his abdomen. Once he managed to hide all evidence, he brought a blanket into the living room and draped it across Dabi and leaned up against the sofa in front of him. Falling asleep easily as he watched the other’s chest rise and fall with steady breaths.
