Chapter Text
Karl giggled while George drooled carelessly falling asleep. The taller brunette had set the shorter on a bench to give his back a rest.
George awoke, rubbing his eyes and pulling on his sweatpants. Karl handed him a coffee with a sweet smile. "You alright Georgie?" George nodded taking the coffee muttering a small "thank you"
George sipped the mocha flavored coffee. He hummed satisfied. "I heard Quackity and Tubbo have a restaurant together." Karl says out of nowhere. George looks up, confused. "You wanna go?" Karl asks, George only continued to grow more confused. "I...is that Wilbur?" He says bewildered.
Karl flinches turning only to see Wilbur Soot towering over a very annoyed looking Quackity. The shorter male waved his hand dismissively, rolling his eyes turned away from the taller. While Wilbur only smiled, taking his hand as an invite, he looked a lot happier than he should've been.
George sinks back into the bench. Him and Wilbur hadn't always been on the best terms regarding Dream. While George had heard from Tommy that Wilbur thinks of Dream as a hero for saving him George thinks the opposite.
Dream was supposed to be his best friend, his lover but neither of them actually confirmed it George was just left to assume they were on the same page in their relationship. "I knew Tommy said he was back but..." George stood, "How.." Wilbur finally looked up from the unamused scowling duck man. His gaze met George's, suddenly he felt the urge to run, yet his legs wouldn't move he froze. In fear or amazement.
"Well if it isn't the man himself, who stole Dream from me." Wilbur chuckles shoving his hands into the pockets of his trench coat, pulling out a cigarette and lighter. Wilbur smirks leaning down to George's level once his cigarette is lit, blowing smoke in his face. George crinkled his nose.
"You know I'm not mad right?" Wilbur turned his head inhaling more from his cigarette, dumping the ashes somewhere for the owner of the bench to worry about. George pressed his lips, "Yes I know." He didn't lift his head to meet Wilbur's intimidating stare. "Why so formal George!?" Wilbur exclaimed, throwing his hands up drastically, one holding his somehow still lit cigarette between his two fingers.
He smiled devilishly meeting George's gaze, "Care for a cigarette?" He asked pressing the butt end he had in his mouth to George's lips.
"I'm okay thank you," George turned his head. Wilbur pouted, "A lil' smoke won't hurt ya! What's there to be afraid of!" Wilbur grinned turning to Karl who sat awkwardly on the bench.
"Cigarette?" He held out his cigarette to Karl who only shook his head. "That's a shame," Wilbur shook his head, pushing the cigarette back into his mouth to inhale. "Let's catch up Georgie" Wilbur says slipping a hand across George's shoulders.
"I hope you don't mind me stealing George from you do you Karl?" Wilbur asked. Karl chirped up, "Actually me and George have plans for today." Karl says gesturing toward Tommy's house behind them. George nodded, "Maybe another time Wilbur I would love to hear about everything you have to tell me." George says, finally meeting Wilbur's eyes.
"Ah well what can you do," Wilbur shrugs flicking the finished cigarette off into the distance. "But before you go," Wilbur grabs George one handed by the cheeks suddenly pulling him in pressing his lips to George's.
George stands frozen wide eyed a little scared and confused, Karl shrieked seeing the two in a sudden lip lock. George could only grab on to Wilbur's coat as the taller man blows smoke into his mouth, pulling away. Wilbur smiles licking his lips. "You taste nice." With that he walks away shoving his hands back into the pockets of his trench coat.
"George! George are you alright? Ohhh God what are we gonna do Dream's gonna flip!" George frowns. "Actually.. the more I think about my relationship with Dream the more confused and sad I get." Karl looks over to George questionably. "Me and Dream have always been best friends but.. one day we just started.. doing things normal best friends wouldn't do. He would convince me to do things I was stubborn on not doing with sex." George wrapped his hands around his bare arms as he and Karl walked to Tommy's house. "So I was left to assume what we were." George explained.
Karl crossed his arms, "I'm so.. sorry George, I didn't know." George sighed, "It's fine." George stepped forward to knock on Tommy's door. The winged boy answered within seconds after seeing George at the door.
"Georgie!" The blonde jumped into George's arms, wrapping his wings around him. "Nice to see you too!" George grinned holding Tommy in his arms. George threaded his fingers through Tommy's grown out hair. "Your hair has gotten so long." Tommy pulled back, his arms still wrapped around George's neck. "Yeah I didn't care to cut it to be honest." George nods, "It looks good on you." Tommy smiles.
Tommy sits between George's legs as the brunette braided his hair. Tommy sat telling stories as Karl laid listening to him silently. George added the additional comment when he found the need to.
The rest of the day the boys spend time at the restaurant Karl talked about in Las Nevadas. Quackity pinched the bridge of his nose, seeing the three of them enter. He sighed, "What are you three doing here?" He crossed his arms.
Karl smiled smugly holding up a wad of cash, "We're paying customers." Tommy chimed in, "Can we gamble?" Tommy says earning a wheeze from Karl. George only giggled shaking his head. "We just came for Tubburgers- whatever those are." George informs calmly.
Quackity rolls his eyes, "Follow me." He drags them to Tubbo's restaurant not to far from the big fountain in the middle of the still constructed city.
The trio sit and chat while Tubbo makes their food in the kitchen. "That'll be 100 bucks all of you." Quackity leans on their table as they finish their meals. "What!?" Tommy shrieks. "That's a rip off!" George considers throwing the burger up so he doesn't have to pay, that counts as an uneaten meal right? Disgusting but it should gross big Q out enough.
George is interrupted mid thought when Tubbo comes in throwing a spatula over his shoulder. "Don't worry about them Big Q I've got the tab. You guys go ahead and dip." Tubbo says, also leaning on the table.
Tommy grins, "Alright Big Q see ya! Thanks Tubbo!" George nods silently, "Thank you Tubbo." He and Karl say in unison.
The trio continue their journey off into Snowchester where Tommy departs to spend time with Ranboo. He muttered something about him being a prick before teetering off into Ranboo's mansion.
George knew he occasionally slept a lot, this started a lot when Dream went into the prison. That was a given, but he thought he went insane when a God that called itself DreamXD started showing up whenever he was alone. Their first interaction was when George was getting up from his bed yet he didn't wake up in his house like usual.
George awoke in a forest, the ground covered in wet vines and the trees protected him like a canopy from the sun light. How ironic he thought as he looked up, spare droplets fell from the trees on to a bed he didn't recognize he awoke in.
The sheets were a jungle colored green, smooth as silk but as soft as wool. George had to admit the bed was comfortable yet he preferred his own. George clumsily climbed out of the bed, cringing when his bare feet touched the wet floor. He assumed it was raining from the silent wind blowing barely there pellets of raindrops his direction.
George walked toward the rain, where the rain is stronger he may find his way out. George crosses his arms over himself, curling in yet still walking. It was cold. And all he had were some shorts and a oversized sweat shirt. At least his torso and arms were warm yet he might loose his legs considering how far he is from his home.
George suddenly stopped walking, he glanced down seeing a cliff. Since when did this place have a cliff so high. George stumbled backward, his back hit something hard, yet it wasn't as rough and ragged as tree bark. Had it been a person? He thought "What's a person doing out here in the middle of nowhere?" He silently thought. Yet he was out here in the middle of nowhere.
George slowly turned around, the person was something straight out of a folktale. They floated a few inches off the ground and they were much bigger than the average person. Their built figure, and the long golden hair that fell shortly behind their back. George's eyes trailed down to their bare torso, they wore a cape clipped together by an eye of ender only covering their shoulders and arms.
The skin that was shown was tanned and freckled, George curiously looked up to their face, a mask with "XD" carved on to it, covered their entire face, the hood of the cape covered their head where as the rest of their hair was pulled back and outside of the cape.
There must have been an opening for it. George tilted his head, the strange being copied his movements. "W.. who are you?" George asked, keeping his composure to the best of his ability. They looked a lot like Dream, just.. longer hair and he didn't know what their face looked like yet.
"I am your protector," they put a hand over their chest as they spoke. Their voice was deep and much more different than Dream's, George sighed relived.
George stood from the ground, "I don't need protection. I want to go home." George simply said scoffing when XD stopped him from moving any further. "This is your home now!" XD threw his hands up, the cape falling back to expose more skin. George shakes his head. "There's nothing here but a bed!" George exclaimed annoyed.
"I.. I want Karl! And Sapnap and Tommy and all my friends!" George balled his fists. XD lowered his hands appearing confused. "Why...? I'm all you need I can give you anything you want." Somehow the strange being sounded hurt.
"I.. I want to go home." George said again calmly. XD shook its head. "I'm afraid I cannot send you home George."
George jumped slightly startled. "How do you know my name...?" George hesitatently made what he assumed was eye contact with the strange thing. "I have been watching you for quite some time. I knew Dream was going to mess up and end up in some enclosed space sometime soon." XD drifted around as they spoke.
"He is married you know." XD said rolling to it spoke. George tensed, "What...? No no your lying to me. Dream said he loves me and.." George cut himself off. "No.. no he does love you, just not in the way you love him." George felt tears prick at his eyes.
"That's untrue he loves me the same way! You're a liar!" George defended. XD chuckled. "Poor George, so pretty yet so clueless." XD brushed George's cheek softly with a soft finger, enough to feel like a hand cupping his face.
George blinked rapidly to avoid the tears falling. "If he loves you romantically as you say, then why are you crying?" XD continues to stroke George's face. "M not crying!" George swats the being's hand away. "He married Fundy while you slept, you were returning home from a secret cabin that you and Dream went to frequently for sex." XD repeated the events, floating beside George.
"And while you collapsed on your bed, sobbing yourself to sleep from the lack of aftercare and the filthy feeling Dream always managed to leave you with, he was getting ready for a wedding." George scoffs, the sad thing was that he remembered it vividly.
"The man Dream was getting married to was Fundy." XD said. George lowered his head, "Does Fundy.. love him romantically?" XD nodded, "Dream shares the feeling, and that same night they got married they had a kid.. named Yogurt." George wrinkled his nose. "A peculiar name don't you think?" George shook his head, "No no your lying to me! Dream loves me and that's that! He would never go behind my back and do something like that!" DreamXD shook their head.
"Suit yourself, you said you wanted to go home right?" George nodded, the beings voice changed from just deep to deep and distorted. "Then why don't you go ask Fundy yourself." And with that George was pushed off the cliff.
George felt his mouth open to scream yet nothing came out, the pain of hitting the ground and hearing all of his bones shatter at once was the last thing he heard and felt, before waking up in his own bed completely fine. "It was a dream." He panted clutching his heart that beat rapidly.
George climbed out of his bed, pulling some clothes from his closet and going to take a shower, he had woken up in a cold sweat.
He didn't even know if it was a dream or if it was real. It could have been a dream yet he remembered every part of it. And it felt so real, the pain he felt when he was told that Dream was married and had a kid. That he didn't love him the same way. George shook away the thoughts and silently scrubbed himself down.
His feet.. he stared at the dirt and leaves stuck to his feet. It wasn't a dream. George's eyes grew big. Was his bed some sort of teleporter? Was it that thing that was there that brought him out into the middle of nowhere? George had so many questions. But his big question had yet to be answered.
"Where does Fundy live!?" George slammed down on Tommy's living room table. The winged boy looked over his shoulder offended. "The fuck makes you think I know?" Tommy asked.
"Because Tommy you know everything about this server!" George said enthusiastically. Tommy bit his lip muttering praises to himself. "Well.. Fundy lives in a weird fuckin house by the bow and arrow challenge thingy." Tommy explained giving directions.
Then George was there, standing in front of the fox's house. George knocked on the door. Fundy answered the door in a matter of moments.
"George! Hey!"
"Hey Fundy.. um I know this is kind of sudden but-" George was cut off.
"Heya George you know it's always a delight to see you man but um Yogurt is having a bit of a tantrum right now he misses his mom." Those words made George's heart drop.
"His mom..?" Fundy looked back over to George.
"Yes my husband. Dream." Fundy explained "Oh yeah I forgot. Dream said he didn't want you at our wedding for whatever reason. Everyone else was there but you." Fundy furrowed his eyebrows. "I'm sorry," George held his head down.
"I'm fine, it's fine. Uh tell Yogurt I said hi." And with that George left.
"So everyone knew but me...?" George silently questioned while walking home. "Why would they let me.. go see him? Why didn't they tell me?" George felt that familiar change in weather, he was back in the forest with XD.
George silently turned, his mitch match eyes glazed over with tears he refused to let fall. "Why didn't they tell me?" XD didn't answer.
"I don't understand the minds of simple humans. I assume it's because they see how happy you were with Dream so they avoid the topic." George sniffled wiping away tears that threatened to fall. He slumped over to the lone bed in the middle of his forest canopy.
"Is there something you wish to discuss, George?" XD asks, it floats over George's deflated figure. George just mutters into the sheets, "Go away XD" Somehow the thing was able to hear him and disappeared, leaving George alone once more.
When George rose from a bed he refused to claim as his, he remained in the forest. "I want to go home." George frowned, fat tears welling out of his eyes again. He says he wants to go home yet he doesn't want to see anyone for a while, so he buries his head back into the comfort of unfamiliar sheets he'd awoken in one other time and continued his shallow slowed breaths as he silently sobbed alone.
