Chapter Text
It has been almost two weeks since Lando and Carlos got engaged. Lando's heard that the honeymoon phase doesn't usually happen until after you get married, but Carlos and him have been enjoying a steady stream of making out, sex, and cuddling on the couch watching their favorite movies. One night, they are doing just that, Carlos laying back on the couch, Lando cuddled into him, curling up into his neck. Carlos's hands are running through Lando's curls; he purrs each time that Carlos's fingers massage the nape of his neck or brush at a stray curl from his forehead.
"Can we tell my parents this week?"
Carlos turns slightly, moving Lando so he's turned around, lying next to Carlos instead of on top of him.
"Yeah?" Carlos asks, starring down at Lando.
"Yeah. I know that I said I wanted to do it, and then we got engaged, and, I love that we are engaged, so freaking much, but I want to share it with my parents. I want them to know. I mean, I'm scared, but I want to."
Carlos leans down and presses a deep kiss against his fiancé's lips. Lando kisses him back, unable to stop the smile that crosses his lips.
It takes another few days until Lando and Carlos are able to find an opportunity to go to Lando’s parents house. When they finally do, Lando is practically bouncing as Carlos drives them over. He keeps fidgeting and wiping his hands on the navy sweater that he is wearing. He twists around the ring on his finger, excited but also so freaking nervous. As they pull into his parents driveway, Carlos parks and then reaches for his fiancé’s hand, pressing a kiss on his hand.
”Hey, hey.” Carlos says, turning Lando’s chin delicately. “Everything is going to be okay.”
“What if they don’t still love me?” Lando whispers, absolutely terrified.
Carlos leans over the center console and wraps his arms and Lando.
“They will,” he says, but knowing that this doesn’t always help Lando, he adds “And if they don’t, then they are stupid and…and I will always love you, okay?”
"Ok," Lando says, nodding his head to himself before getting out of the car. Carlos is dressed in a nice pair of black slacks with a coral button-up shirt that it took him two hours that morning to pick out. He wanted to make sure that he looked 'perfect' when he met Lando's parents again. He already knew that Lando's parents liked him, but it is one thing to like your sons best friend and first F1 teammate, and it is another thing to like the fiancé you didn't even know your son had been dating.
Lando rings the bell to his parents house. A few shouts are heard from inside the house before Cisca, Lando's mom, opens the door with a wide smile on her face. She passes Carlos a kind smile before sweeping her son into what is sure to be a bone-crushing hug.
"Lando, sweetie! I've missed you."
"I've missed you to mum." Lando says, his voice muffled in the hug.
"And Carlos," His mom exclaims when she releases him. "It's so nice to see you again. How've those Ferrari boys been treating you?"
"Good ma'am." Carlos responds, giving her a hug back.
She shuttles the boys inside, where dinner is already waiting for them on the table. Carlos and Lando sit at the table settings next to each other, eating and talking with Lando's parents, not really saying anything very important. In fact, by the time dinner is over, Lando has absolutely no idea what he has been talking about for the last hour. Him and Carlos bump knees lightly under the table when his mother comes back from clearing the plates and that is when Lando finally decides to say something.
"Um, Mum, Dad, can we talk?"
His parents both turn to him, panic on their face at his tone.
"It's nothing bad," he says quickly. "Just, something really important that I want to, uh, tell you guys."
"Ok..." His father says, trailing off, somewhat nervous.
Carlos grabs Lando's hand under the table, squeezing it tightly, and when Lando turns and looks at him, the pure love in his eyes is all that he needs to keep on going.
"So, uh, I've been seeing someone. For quite a while now, but we decided to keep it a secret because we both work in F1 and we just weren't ready for people to know about us. And, to be perfectly honest, I was scared for a long time about telling anybody, you guys included. But, um, well," Carlos gives him another encouraging, loving look, "We got engaged about two weeks ago and we both agreed that even though we aren't quite ready for the media and stuff to know, we wanted to tell you guys."
"You're engaged?!" His mother exclaims.
"Yeah, mum. I'm engaged. And he's amazing." Lando turns to look at Carlos, not really registering that he basically just came out or whatever to his parents, only caring about watching the very important reaction of the man that he loves. Pride and love. That is what he sees in his man's eyes.
Silence fills the room and when Lando turns to look at his parents, he is terrified. But there is his mom, crying happy tears as she comes around the table and pulls Carlos into a massive hug. A huge almost knowing smile is on his dad lips as he winks at Lando. His father gets up, pulling Lando's mom off of his fiancé's before she hugs him to death. Lando blushes and smiles and, for the first time in front of his family, unashamedly snuggles into Carlos and presses a small kiss on his lips.
They go into the living room, Lando's parents insisting that they tell them everything. When Lando tells the story about how Carlos first kissed him to save him from a horrible panic attack after a race, his mom cries. When they show them the video Charlotte took of Carlo's proposing, they all cry. By the end of the night, their faces are sticky and their cheeks hurt from smiling. But they don't care. As Lando and Carlos say goodbye and get into their car, they stop for a moment just to stare happily at each other.
Because it's them.
Little Lando Norris and his Chili.
Forever.
