Chapter Text
Techno is glad that Philza isn't here right now to watch over him, as it would be rather embarrassing to have his long time friend see him clean his weapons so thoroughly - considering he's very much not worried. Chat is of course murmuring lies alongside their normal nonsense, but he’s got enough practice tuning them out just enough that he can focus mostly on cleaning the ‘Orphan Obliterator’ - still listening into them just in case they do in fact have important information since they somehow have outside knowledge.
He's not worried about how Ranboo and Dre could be attacked at any moment, nor how he wouldn't know until he receive a death notification or a message - nor how vulnerable both are in their own ways.
His mind drifting briefly to when Philza had left as he subconsciously continues to sharpen his axe, ignoring the voices talk of ‘Dadza’ and ‘Birdza’ - of course there was the occasional ‘Old Man’ in there too.
Once Ranboo and Dre were out of sight and on their way to Snowchester, Philza pretended that he didn’t notice how tense Techno is nor how the Piglin hybrids’ gaze shifted consistently to his communicator - prepared to move at a moments notice should either Ranboo or Dream have need of him.
“So about the first big war, did Wilbur and Tommy really start a drug van and call Dream a tyrant because he wouldn’t give up his land?” Philza isn’t really doubting Techno’s words to be honest, more so just making sure that he had in fact correctly heard what Techno had said.
Techno grimaces as he knows Philza loves his son but he isn’t going to lie to the avian, he’d probably had enough of that from Wilbur’s letters considering the tall tales he told on the papers. “I wish I could make you feel better but your son really did that, amongst other things too.”
Philza grimaces at the reminder that there’s even more his son has kept from him, sighing softly as he runs a hand through his hair - before coming to a decision on what he’s going to do next. “Alright then mate, I’ll speak with Ghostbur and see if I can figure out more.”
The avian may not know his son as well as he had thought but he had seen how proud Wilbur was of his silver tongue every time he managed to trick and delight others, so if he did in fact manage to get others to believe that Dream was a villain when he wasn’t - then it probably was quite a happy memory that he’d managed to convince others of something so easily.
”He may not have what you need to know, but if he does then you may not like what you find Phil.” Techno grimaces as he knows Philza is probably upset enough as it, he most certainly didn’t want his long time friend to add even more to that - he didn’t deserve to suffer like this.
”I probably won’t like what I find if he does remember this to be honest, but it doesn’t matter how I feel because if Wilbur truly did do this then the least I can do for Dream is help clear his name.” Philza had raised his boys to clean up after themselves but Wilbur couldn’t do it because he was dead, and Ghostbur was innocent since he was a completely different person - something Philza was able to see as besides their appearance Ghostbur was more like Wilbur as a child than an adult.
Although without any of the weirder habits, like sand eating.
”If you’re certain that you want to do this, then I won’t stop you Phil.” Techno grimaces as he doesn’t really want to let Philza do this, but it’s not like he could tie the other down somewhere or something to stop him from going - because Philza was just as stubborn as he was sometimes.
”I really appreciate that mate, well I’ll start heading back to L’Manburg and track down Ghostbur. Shouldn’t be that hard to find him.” Philza grimaced a little at his wording, since it almost sounded like he was going to hunt down the ghost of his son - which is the last thing he wants to do considering he was the one who took his sons final canon life.
”Just stay safe Philza, who knows what they could be planning.” Techno grimaces as he thinks briefly of the government in charge of L’Manburg, considering the president is in fact a minor - which is stupid since they’re always talking about how minors shouldn’t handle ‘adult problems’.
If they were that serious about it, then they should have never put Tubbo in a government position where he’s going to have to make a lot of decisions for the entire country which consists almost entirely of adults.
”I imagine that as long as I don’t start arguments, destroy properties belonging to others and I don’t steal, than I should be able to avoid problems.” Both hybrids thinking of a certain blonde minor, who continuously does all three and then complains about getting in trouble with others - made worse by the fact he hasn’t had to face proper repercussions until now.
Philza sighs softly as his wings puff up due to his slightly agitated state, due to thinking about the troublesome minor who constantly complains about being called a child - despite him acting very much like a child. “Well I’ll spend a couple days gathering what information I can about the other wars, and see if I can maybe dig up some documents or something else like journals as more physical proof.”
“Alright then Phil.” Techno walks with the other hybrid to the front door as he resists the urge to tie Philza down or something, since he knows the blonde won’t appreciate being caged like that, ignoring the way the voices call him soft when hearing how he wants to protect the old man - although it’s more so playful then mocking since they know L’Manburg can be a threat when they choose.
Philza opens the door and although he knows Techno won’t say anything he turns before hugging the other, ignoring how stiff the pinkette is at first since he knows the Piglin hybrid isn’t going to ask - but doing this is more so a physical reassurance to his almost son that everything will be okay. “I’ll stay safe Techno, so try not to worry about me.”
Techno grimaces at being so easy to read but hugs back as he does feel better hearing that, knowing that that’s probably the closest he’s going to get to a true promise to stay safe considering these circumstances - sighing softly as he reluctantly releases the other after a few moments.
Philza pulls away after Techno does to avoid making the pinkette too uncomfortable, smiling up at the taller before trying to lighten his mood a bit. “Try not to start any wars or burn down any orphanages without me mate.” He grins when getting a chuckle from the other and considers it a success, turning and walking out the door with determination.
Techno’s smile drops into a slight grimace once Philza’s back is turned before watching the older walk to his horse, keeping his eyes on the avian hybrid as he rides away until he’s out of sight then closing the front door - wishing he hadn’t let Ranboo take Dre as the blob is a good distraction from his thoughts and the voices.
He can only hope that-
Techno shakes his head as he snaps himself out of it before looking down at ‘Orphan Obliterator’, only to realise that if he sharpens it anymore he’s probably going to risk turning the metal brittle instead of just sharp - after all he is wearing away at the metal when sharpening it.
Hopefully these feelings of doubt and worry go away soon, otherwise he’s going to end up heading to Snowchester to retrieve Dre.
Ranboo doesn’t think he could ever thank Techno enough for gifting him with this horse, considering it’s the reason he and Micheal have managed to make it back to the pinkette’s home in a fairly good time - although it’s a bit late in the afternoon right now.
He can only hope Techno won’t turn them away, the Piglin hybrid is the only one with a stable home space that he feels comfortable and safe in now - not willing to go to L’Manburg or Tommy after that fight with Tubbo.
The Endermen squints as he moves the horse closer until the large cabin is within sight, but let’s put a small breath of relief when seeing an unleashed Steve out the front of Techno’s home and the lights on inside - as both normally mean that Techno is at home still and hasn’t gone out.
There were a few other differences that he’d noticed between when Techno was home or had gone out, but those two were the most prominent.
He guides the horse over to the barn since where Carl was kept since he wants the poor animal to survive the night, moving the equine inside the structure before carefully hopping off with Micheal in his arms - gently placing his down on the ground so he can focus on the horse.
He wonders if he’ll ever get used to referring to Micheal as his son, but part of him doesn’t want that since it means that Tubbo is no longer Micheal’s father - but if he doesn’t get his shit together then Ranboo will do everything in his power to keep the ram hybrid away from his son.
Micheal is important to him and he deserves the best Ranboo can provide, including protection from delusional people - even if that means Tubbo.
Micheal takes a moment to watch his papa remove the leather from the four legged creature as he hugs the squishy creature to his chest, planning to ask his papa about why it can be taken off if they need it - although that’ll only happen once they have enough language between them that they can both understand.
Which will probably take a while to occur, since he doesn’t know very much of their language and they haven’t learned his - not that he blames his papa since he forgets so easily.
But the zombie piglin finds his eyes drawn to the white he normally sees out his window, but has never gotten the chance to touch it since he was always kept inside - so while his papa is looking at something else he decides to take this chance while he can.
He doesn’t know if he’ll get this chance to do so ever again.
He glances at his papa once more just to make sure he’s focused on the four legged creature before moving to the white stuff, although he notices that once within touching distance he can see his breathing - but decides that’s not as important as the white stuff just yet.
He can discover how that’s possible after he touches the white, wondering if he’s more like his dad or his papa since he’s seen the white stuff hurt his papa sometimes - knowing what it’ll feel like since he’s not wearing gloves.
While holding onto the soft squishy creature he hesitantly reaches out to the white while noticing that the closer his hand is the colder it get’s, but he chooses to ignore how cold it is for now - but the moment his hand comes in contact with the white stuff he let’s out a small squeal and yanks his hand back.
He doesn’t know if he’s ever felt anything that cold before to be honest.
Ranboo instantly looks over at the squeal in a panic as he’s worried about what happened, only to relax when seeing that Micheal’s touching snow and isn’t actually under attack or anything - but he hurries up with some food and water for the horse before moving back to Micheal.
He doesn’t want the small child to wander off after all.
The Enderman lifts the zombie Piglin up into his arms carefully and holds him close before making his way to Techno’s front door, knocking on it firmly to make sure Techno will hear it if he’s awake - hoping that he hasn’t taken a nap or been forced out of his home.
He hopes that the Piglin will let them stay.
Techno frowns when hearing the knock at the door but can instantly narrow down the list of who hold possibly be at the door, since not many would actually show up at his home - even less would knock on his door. So he stands up while loosely holding onto ‘Orphan Obliterator’ before moving towards the front door, narrowing his eyes as the voices begin guessing who it could be - of course the guessing stops when he opens the door a crack and peeks through.
When someone is as disliked and considered a threat as much as Techno is, one can never be too careful.
His eyes widening when he spots Ranboo with a zombie Piglin child opening the door properly, confused about why they’re here and who the kid is - although the voices are already guessing about what the problem could be that’s brought them here. “Ranboo? What are you doing here?”
Ranboo offers a nervous smile as he holds Micheal close to his chest, not exactly worried about Techno attacking Micheal since the zombie Piglin isn’t an orphan which means he’s less likely to be unalived by the Piglin hybrid - so unless the child makes him angry he should be okay.
Not that Techno would be able to lay a hand on his son while Ranboo’s still alive, as he’ll die before allowing Techno to hurt his son.
”Hey Techno, I kind of impulsively decided to leave and chose to take Micheal with me. I wasn’t sure of where to come that helped me feel safe until I thought of here, so I was wondering if we could stay here for a little while? At least until things with Tubbo are sorted out or we set up our own place?” His words hesitant, worried he’ll be turned away.
Techno’s eyes glance down to the zombie Piglin in Ranboo’s arms and knows something isn’t right about this situation, since Ranboo wouldn’t impulsively involve Micheal from what he knows - but sees Dre in Micheal’s on top of noticing Dre and Micheal shiver a little. “Alright.” He moves away from the door to allow them to come in with ease.
Ignoring how some of the voices call him ‘Technosoft’ while a few are cooing about Micheal, although there are a few calling for the death of the zombie Piglin child and others are calling for Tubbo’s head - but some have noticed Ranboo leaving something out.
Ranboo’s eyes widen at Techno giving in as he’s kind of shocked since part of him was expecting to be turned away, but snaps out of it when hearing Micheal sneeze - hurrying inside and heading straight for the fireplace while hoping that his son isn’t sick because of being out too long in the cold.
Techno carefully closes and locks the front door so the kid won’t be able to get out that way, before walking after the trio who’ve moved to his living room - watching Ranboo carefully place the kid down by the fire place to help him warm up quicker as he carefully puts away ‘Orphan Obliterator’.
Ignoring how relaxed he is with Ranboo and Dre inside his home, knowing he’d be at peace if Philza was here as well.
Micheal rubs his nose as it feels super cold but stands close to the warmth, feeling better being inside of this place then he does at home since here is much warmer then home - wondering if it’s because of the not human who let them inside the house.
Dre feels better being inside his caretaker’s home with Sunshine and Oreo by his side, taking a moment to relax in the warm atmosphere that feels nicer then the cold - although that’s not to say he can’t handle it just that he prefers the warmer environments where his protector feels most comfortable.
Techno makes his way closer to the trio and decides he should probably introduce himself to the kid, deciding to use Piglin language to do it since that’s probably easiest for him to understand. “Your dad tells me your name is Micheal, well mine is Techno.” Although the reaction he gets from the child confuses him.
Micheal’s head snaps up to Techno at hearing that as his eyes widen, having never heard another person speak the same language as him before until now anyway - excited as he turns to face the not human. “You speak like me?! I’ve never heard a person up here speak like me!”
Ranbooks attention snaps to the pair speaking Piglin as he didn’t realise Techno could speak it to, eyes wide as he listens to the pair speak to each other with ease - realising this means he can start learning to help talk to his son since he could never do it before.
Although he doesn’t know why he hadn’t thought of it before, but decides it’s probably one of those things he’s forgotten.
”Of course, although our language is referred to as Piglin language when we’re in the Overworld.” Although Techno realises that this is how he’s going to figure out what Ranboo left out of his story, but knows that the kid won’t be able to tell him everything - however he’s certain that the child will be able to tell him something. “Your papa hasn’t been honest about why he decided to bring you here, can you tell me why you two aren’t home?”
Micheal’s eyes widen since he didn’t think his papa would hide why they would come here, not able to understand why exactly he wouldn’t tell Techno about what happened with his dad - frowning at his papa before focusing on the pinkette. “He and dad got into a really big fight, I think dad even hit papa.” He had noticed the mark on his papa’s cheek on their way here, but it mostly blended in since it was on his papa’s black side.
“Heh?” Techno had stiffened at the mention of Ranboo being hit as the voices call for blood as his hands clenching into fists as his rage grows, but pushes it down for the moment while the kid is here - since the zombie Piglin isn’t the reason why he’s angry. “Thanks for telling me Micheal, there’s some food in that container on the stool by the fireplace. You can have something from it, as long as you share with Dre.” He makes sure to point to the blob so he has clear understanding.
Micheal perks up at the mention of food as he’s curious about what it is before moving over to it with Dre, wondering what exactly is inside it as his attention has gone to the container - taking off the lid carefully although he’s confused about what he sees inside.
He can’t wait to see what it tastes like though.
Of course Techno can see that Ranboo only looks mostly curious with a bit of concern about what he and Micheal had discussed, which means that he probably didn’t understand a single word of what had just been said between them - the Enderman was probably only concerned because of his reaction to the conversation. “So Ranboo, I heard there was an argument between you and a certain ram. Want to tell me what that’s about?”
The voices were calling for Tubbo’s blood because he hurt Ranboo.
Ranboo stiffens at the mention of an argument between him and Tubbo, glancing at Micheal because he was definitely the only one who could have said something since he kept silent - not that he could be mad since his son didn’t know he wasn’t supposed to say anything. “I confronted Tubbo about what you told me, and he tried to lie to me.” He looks down, having only told the truth because he hates lying to the people he cares about.
Especially when there’s no good reason to keep quiet.
Techno knows there’s more to what had happened that had led to Ranboo leaving, just lying isn’t enough to be a reason - but it is enough to start a fight since Ranboo values honesty. “If this was a normal kind of fight you wouldn’t be here, which means it got heated.” His eyes flicker to Micheal as he knows Ranboo wouldn’t remove the kid from his home, unless it was better for him not to be home. “Not to mention you brought the kid with you.”
Ranboo had said unless the house was in danger or there was something dangerous there, he wouldn’t take the kid out - which leaves the question of what exactly is the problem?
Ranboo’s own eyes move to Micheal when he notices Techno’s own eyes shift to his son, grimacing as Techno points out the fatal flaw in his explanation - the fact that he took Micheal which means it’s worse then what he’s saying. “Do I really have to talk about this?”
He doesn’t want Techno to hunt Tubbo down, and he can’t be sure the Piglin hybrid won’t when the Enderman isn’t looking.
”If I let this drop Ranboo then you’ll keep trying to get me to drop it, and unless I know what happened I won’t be able to adequately keep you and your kid safe.” Techno knows it’s a low blow bringing the kid into it to be honest, but if Micheal is how he can get real answers out of Ranboo then he’ll do it. “Especially since I’ve heard some concerning things from the kid.”
Taking this moment to look closely at the Enderman’s face, but the black side in particular as Micheal had specifically mentioned that half.
Ranboo stiffens as he realises Micheal probably brought up one of the things he’s trying to hide, trying not to react further since he doesn’t want to run the risk of straining his cheek right now - the cold had helped soothe the pain but he doesn’t want to accidentally cause it to ache again. “Micheal will be safe.”
”If you are really believed what you just said he wouldn’t be with you right now, which means you don’t really actually think that at all. Meaning that something happened beyond just arguing, which made you believe at least subconsciously that he wouldn’t be safe.” Techno wasn’t going to bring up the fact that Ranboo conveniently left himself out of it, planning on handling that later.
Ranboo’s eyes widen as he realises that Techno is unfortunately right, looking down as he tries not to tear up since crying hurts - wishing what Techno had said wasn’t true. “I- he kept denying what you told me and getting defensive, which made me keep pushing because there was part of me couldn’t believe him. We were both getting angry, and he-” the dual toned male stops, shutting his eyes as he wishes it hadn’t happened. “He slapped me.”
Thinking back on it now that he’s out of the moment with a clear mind, has him feeling like he’d kind of overreacted even if he was distressed - he’d just been so upset that Tubbo would slap him.
But he doesn’t want Techno to do anything to Tubbo since he still cares a lot about the ram hybrid, so he continues speaking before Techno can get a word in - looking up from the ground to focus on the Piglin hybrids face. “But he didn’t mean it! I could tell he regretted it the moment he realised he did it! He tried apologising too.” Although he knows it’s not directed at him, he didn’t like the way Techno looked so angry - it makes him feel like he’s done something wrong. “It was only once so it’s not that bad, meaning you don’t have to do anything.”
He believes that Tubbo wouldn’t do it again, he has to.
Techno grits his teeth as he hates that Ranboo’s trying to justify this to him, because it doesn’t matter that Tubbo only hit him like that once - one time is one time too many in his eyes. “It doesn’t matter if he feels bad or if he apologised nor if he regrets it, and it doesn’t matter if it was only once either. If it happened once it can happen again Ranboo.” If anything he could be more likely to not hold back on doing more things like that, if he knows there won’t be any consequences.
The voices were calling for Ram’s blood.
“That’s- he won’t! Tubbo’s going to see sense and realise that what he did to me, isn’t okay. Then once that happens we can have a proper talk about the first war, as well as all the other conflicts to discover the truth.” Ranboo speaks with confidence, determined to have Techno believe him - Tubbo and him loved each other after all.
After all, it’s not like he had hit Micheal.
Techno wishes he could talk some sense into Ranboo and his eyes flick to Micheal, deciding to use the kid against Ranboo to get him to see reason. “From the sounds of it, this was your first heated argument.” He waits until Ranboo nods, before continuing. “Can you guarantee a hundred percent that he won’t hit you next time, if you get into an argument like that?”
Ranboo isn’t liking the way Techno’s phrasing these questions to be honest, partially wondering if this is how he had made Tubbo feel before during their argument - he hadn’t meant to corner the ram he’d just wanted answers that didn’t involve lies or deception.
But was that enough reason to slap him?
He sees the hesitation and continues. “And what if Micheal gets into a heated argument with Tubbo? Or if he sides with you against Tubbo? What if Tubbo hits Micheal?” He notices Ranboo get defensive about that, and continues speaking so he doesn’t get a chance. “And don’t say he would never, because before today you believed a hundred percent he would never hit you.”
Neither he nor the voices liked cornering Ranboo this way, but for his sake they would do it.
Micheal didn’t understand what was going on or being said since he doesn’t know what they’re saying, all he knows is that his papa is upset and he needs to do whatever he can to help the dual toned feel better - so he carefully puts the napping blob down before making his way over to his papa and acting.
Affection always made him feel better.
Ranboo’s hands clench into fists as he’s about to defend Tubbo until he feels arms around his legs, causing him to stop and look down with confusion - only for his gaze to soften when seeing his son hug his legs. He reaches down before carefully lifting Micheal up and holding him close as tears fill his eyes, knowing that Techno is right about this - but that doesn’t mean he likes Techno being right. “You’re right, I can’t guarantee it.”
“I don’t want to be.” Techno feels something in his chest come loose only to realise it’s relief at Ranboo becoming aware that what happened was wrong, ignoring the voices cooing at how adorable the sight is despite Ranboo looking like he’s on the verge of tears - but he knows there’s one more thing he has to get Ranboo to promise. “Ranboo I need you to promise me something.”
If Ranboo could promise and keep something for him, then for now he could ignore the calls for ram blood - but only because he knows succumbing to them would upset the so called ‘Blood Prince’ and main character.
Ranboo doesn’t like the idea of promising something before he knows what it is, although that doesn’t mean he doesn’t agree to the promises anyway due to peer pressure - but in this moment after that conversation he needs to think more closely on it before deciding. “Well that entirely depends on what you want me to promise.”
”That if Tubbo starts demanding you come back or meet him, insulting you or anything else like that tell him you need space for a few days then block him for a week or two. Show him that you’re not someone to be walked over about this.” Techno can see him hesitate, and once again brings the kid into it. “If not for your sake then for Micheal’s, because I know you will always do what’s best for him.”
They can talk about this self-worth problem later.
Ranboo would very much like to not promise that to be honest since he doesn’t think it’d be good to ignore Tubbo, but knows if it’s best for Micheal he needs to do it - he would do anything for Micheal’s sake if he’s being honest. “Okay Techno, I’ll promise to do that as long as you promise not to kill him for this.”
Although he did notice Techno mention things that would only cause him pain, so it’s probably not a bad idea if he’s being honest - he only hopes it doesn’t come to that.
Techno narrows his eyes as he really wants to hunt down the ram which is very much encouraged by the voices considering they’re chanting for it, but he doesn’t want to ruin one of the few good relationships he has with someone who hasn’t stabbed him in the back or used him - so he gives in partly. “As long as Tubbo stays away for now, then I promise I won’t hunt him down.”
He’s not happy about it, but he’ll do it for Ranboo’s sake - at least until he can get the other hybrid to agree it would be for the best.
Ranboo relaxes and smiles even if the action causes a sharp stinging pain from his cheek, carefully putting his son down since he’d noticed the zombie Piglin child wanted to go back to Dre as the blob was beginning to wake - his eyes on his precious boy who excitedly hurries to the creature.
Techno glances outside and notices the sun setting which in turn reminds him that he doesn’t have a bedroom set up, since they had surprised him with this sudden decision to stay the night at his place - not that he’s going to complain since he doesn’t want Ranboo to leave after that discussion.
Although looking back at the trio reminds him of one of his books he keeps down here, since he uses it as a refresher for if something slips his mind. “Hey kid, I have something for you.” He makes sure he has the child’s attention before making his way to one of the bookshelves, carefully grabbing a book off the shelf before moving back - holding out a book of translations from Piglin to Overworld and vice versa.
Micheal’s eyebrow scrunches up in confusion since he didn’t think there were any books he could read, only for his eyes to widen when seeing the title - realising it’s a book for beginners on translating simple Overworld and Piglin letters as well as words. “Where’d you find this?!”
Techno snorts a little at the idea of finding something this precious, although doesn’t speak out loud since he knows Dream would take it as a challenge once he gets back to human form - but tries not to think about it too much more. “You don’t exactly find something like this, I took my time writing it out.” Which had definitely taken a good long time to complete, but it’s served him well. “You can use it, and maybe help your papa learn some too.”
”I will! Thank you Techno!” Micheal smiles happily up at the pinkette before looking through the book, wanting to get an idea of what sort of words in the Overworld language he’ll be dealing with - wanting to be able to speak properly with his papa so they can clearly understand each other.
Dre finds his eyes flicking between Sunshine and Oreo as they look over something, before making his way over with a bit of effort so he can snuggle up to Sunshine - content to sleep beside Sunshine for now since he doesn’t feel an urge to be close with Caretaker.
Yet.
Techno notices Dre having a nap with Micheal while the zombie Piglin is sounding out letters with Ranboo’s help, and decides to take advantage of their distraction by heading upstairs to one of his empty rooms - planning on turning it into a bedroom for the father and son duo to sleep in while they’re living with him.
Of course Dre doesn’t need a bedroom since he sleeps with people instead, but he can only hope Dre wants to keep beside him - not that Dre being there helps him sleep better that’s ridiculous.
Of course Techno is determined to make sure there’s enough room for the pair considering how tall Ranboo is, although he did hear Dream once mention that taller hybrids like Ranboo tend to curl around things they consider precious to provide feelings of safety and comfort - although he’s not quite sure how the blonde managed to learn such a thing since there aren’t very many tall hybrids to his knowledge.
Although with a stubborn Piglin hybrid like Techno when he has his mind focused on something, means it doesn’t take very long for him to set up the bedroom to be a safe and clean spot for both zombie Piglin child and enderman hybrid father - although it’s certainly helped that Dream did gift him with supplies he’s now used.
Of course it was a bit difficult thanks to Chat who were commenting the entire time, about where the bed should go and the materials he should use - but he managed thankfully due to his skill in ignoring them.
But once he’s finished with that he heads back downstairs to check up on the trio, although relieved to notice that they’re all okay right now and still learning - making his way over to them to see if he can snatch the small blob up as he can see that the small creature is now awake.
”S-sn…ow?” Micheal hesitantly asks but notices his papa shake his head and sound it out slowly for him, noticing that it makes an ‘oh’ sound instead of ‘ow’ causing him to frown a little - but he tries again as he wants to make his papa proud. “Sn-oh……snoh……snow?” Looking hopefully to his papa as he points outside, wanting to make sure that he finally learns the name of the cold white out there.
The words were so confusing, why couldn’t they just look like the sounds that they make?
”Good job Micheal! That’s right it’s snow!” Ranboo smiles as he applauds Micheal before he hugs his son, but jumps a little when notices Techno since he didn’t even realise he’d come close - smiling sheepishly up at the Piglin hybrid since he’s sitting on the ground. “Hello Techno.”
It speaks volume that neither he nor Micheal noticed Techno approach, as it means they feel safe enough around him that they can lower their guards - something that had never quite happened with Tubbo.
”Can I grab Dre off of you for a little bit? I’m going to start cooking dinner before it gets any later, and he’s rather helpful to have despite his chaotic tendencies.” Although having Dre with him while cooking served multiple purposes, not that he’s willing to share them just yet - but that reminds him that he should let them know what he has in mind for dinner in case they have restrictions or something. “Tonight I’ll be cooking steak as well as some vegetables like potato and pumpkin.”
Micheal’s face scrunches up as he tries to listen in on what they’re saying, but pouts as he doesn’t know enough words just yet - but does manage to ice up the occasional word like I’ll, you and Dre. “What are you talking about? I do not know what you’re saying yet.”
”Well I’m cooking steak and some other vegetables like potato, but I was asking for Dre since he helps me cook.” He doesn’t mind answering the kids questions, although hopes that he’ll be a fast learner - because repeating himself is annoying to be honest.
That’s not to say he’ll stop doing so, but that’s only because he wants both of them to understand him.
“Oh! Okay.” Micheal carefully picks up the small blob before holding him out to Techno, making sure to be gentle while holding the creature that fits in the palm of his hand - but does find himself wondering how he can help since he’s so small. “Can we watch?”
Techno carefully moves Dre to his shoulder but straight up ignores the way the blob creature rubs his small head against the Piglin hybrids own head, thinking over Micheal’s request to watch him cook carefully before deciding it’s okay and nodding - before turning his attention to Ranboo since he doesn’t understand Piglin. Yet. “I’ve let Micheal know you guys can come watch if you want.”
No chat he didn’t smile when Dre nuzzled him, the small blob is a weird attention seeking creature and you’re imagining things.
Of course he ignores Ranboo’s shock as he turns before making his way to the kitchen, gently placing Dre down on the bench as he ignores Ranboo and Micheal who have hesitantly followed him into the kitchen - far more focused on getting food out while Dre pulls over some utensils and cookware.
Items he’s used this morning for their breakfast, but had cleaned up before discovering the surprise visit they’d sprung on him.
Ranboo can’t help watching on with surprise since he’d really thought that the Piglin hybrid either had them delivered, or Philza was the one cooking things up for Techno - since he never really thought that Techno was someone who would cook to be honest. “Wait, you’re the one who cooks the food? Not Philza?”
Techno can’t help the amused snort that escapes him at the idea of Philza cooking something, having experienced food from that man first hand - and never wanting to deal with it again. “Funnily enough no Philza is the worse cook, when comparing cooking skills between me and him. Although not for lack of trying.”
Grinning a little when hearing chat mock the avian for being so old he can’t even read recipes, that even if he had glasses he still wouldn’t be able to see the words properly.
He grimaced as he remembers the latest attempt the avian hybrid had. “He tends to either burn or undercook most of his meals, so he chooses fruit amongst other quick and easy things.” He looks at the vegetables before carefully taking the knife from Dre’s mouth, smiling a little when he gets a chirp from the blob. “Thank you for getting me a knife Dre.”
He begins peeling the potatoes and pumpkins first as he he keeps his focus there, letting the blob move the half filled pot over to the stove with his little body - not worried since when determined enough he sometimes had the strength of his human counterpart. “But you can thank Dream that I even know how to cook, considering it’s because of him. The Teletubby and I were mocking each other about skills, when I mistakenly brought up cooking.
No chat he wasn’t a simp because he found it adorable seeing Dream so excited about something, he just had never seen Dream like that most of the time - since he normally sees that excitement almost entirely only for sparring.
”I tried to mock him about cooking since he was calling me bad, but he unfortunately proved he was very skilled in the kitchen. Apparently he’d learned to be able to cook so Bad wouldn’t have to do it all himself, as George and Sapnap are terrible when it comes to cooking. They somehow manage to burn water.” Of course Techno did take advantage of it by having the blonde come cook for him everyday for a month straight to prove it, but he had a feeling the blob didn’t mind.
Dream had mentioned that he’d loved doing things for the people he cares about, that doing so as a human helps him feel complete and content.
Of course the topic of Dream has Ranboo hesitant since he’s here because he found out more about Dream, but he decides that since he’s come this far he may as well learn as much as he can - hopefully what he learns will reassure him in his decision to confront Tubbo. “Can you tell me more about why Dream does the things he does?” He picks up Micheal so his son can see more easily, hoping Techno can understand what he means.
“It’s hard to explain Dream exactly, but I’ll do what I can to help you understand. To start with Dream is neither good nor bad, and unlike the rest of the server he doesn’t claim to really be either. Dream is what those sound of mind would consider a neutral reactionist, in that he won’t be swayed one way or another without the influence of those around him.” Techno sighs softly as he looks at the blob, currently distracted by his own reflection.
A dancing blob isn’t cute chat.
“Did you know that Dream wasn’t the one who brought Tommy and Tubbo into the war?” He glances at Ranboo and grimaces at seeing the shock, hating that the information is so surprising. “It was actually Wilbur who brought them into the fight against Dream, not that they weren’t eager to fight against the infamous Dream anyway.”
Their hubris would always be their downfall.
“Although it didn’t help that Wilbur was encouraging them to get involved either, talking about how they’d be ‘renowned’ as these ‘heroes’ for defeating the ‘awful oppressive tyrant’ known as Dream.” The pinkette grimaces at the idea of his friend being reduced to nothing more then a trophy, but still he continues.
He would never be able to understand why they were so eager to hate Dream, perhaps it was because he said no to giving land to drug dealers.
“Tommy loved the idea of having people adore and praise him, not to mention his own hero worship of Wilbur who was like a big brother to him. And Tubbo followed along, due to believing they’ll never have to want for anything again.” Techno isn’t trying to make things sound better or worse, simply telling Ranboo what he’s been told from Dream’s perspective.
It’s not like anyone else is going to do it.
”But Dream decided that if the teens wanted to be part of the wars like adults, make decisions like adults and demand to be treated like adults - then he would act as if he was dealing with adults.” He narrows his eyes when he sees Ranboo look upset at that, and decides to make sure the hybrid knows Dream wasn’t the only one.
He knows it doesn’t matter to anyone else that Dream only did it out of necessity, after all treating them like children had led to the disc ‘fight’ - something Dream did to humour them.
”He wasn’t the only one to treat them as if they were an adult either, Wilbur did it by giving them positions of command like his right hand. Everyone who was part of the first war did it when they either fight with them, or against them. So the people like Wilbur, Fundy, Sapnap, Eret and George all fought with or against Tommy and Tubbo.” He wants to make it clear that other people were just as responsible for bringing the teens in, but Wilbur especially.
He looks down at the vegetables in front of him on the bench and takes a moment to dice them up, even if he intended to mash them it would make it easier if they were smaller - but allows Ranboo time to think it over a bit longer before adding more. “Dream is angry that they’re placing all the blame on him about the minors, as well as how he treated them like adults now that the fighting is over.”
Ranboo thinks over Techno’s words and realises what exactly the Piglin hybrid is getting at, horrified that it not only took him this long to realise - but also what the realisation is. “They’re being hypocrites. Because they’re all getting mad at Dream for things like treating the minors as adults, despite the fact that they’ve done so as well.”
Micheal hates that he can’t understand what’s being said between his papa and Techno but he’s also kind of glad to be honest, since it really does not seem like a pleasant conversation - although he notices that Dre is being brought up rather often even if it sounds a bit off.
He’ll ask Techno about the name later.
Techno carefully slides the vegetables over to the blob, before gently poking him to get Dre’s attention. ”I’m not fond of talking about this, but if I don’t tell you then no one will. Because the rest of the people on this server like to pretend that not only are they perfect, but that Dream is the only problem on the server and that he’s the reason everything has gone wrong.”
They’re only still alive because he doesn’t want Dream to blame himself.
Dre perks up as he turns to his Caretaker until he notices the diced vegetables, before he begins happily tossing them into the pot without worrying about the water - since he hadn’t turned the heat on just yet as he was waiting for his caretaker’s signal to do so.
He likes to help his caretaker, it always made him happy to provide some assistance.
Of course Ranboo gets distracted as he hears the notification for messages and frowns a little since he honestly wasn’t expecting anything, looking down at his communicator to check what exactly is being sent - only for his eyes to widen at the messages he’s receiving from his so called husband.
Tubbo’s certain that he’s given enough time for Ranboo to have calmed down and think about what’s happened, and now that he’s calmed down he finds himself missing the tall Enderman hybrid - the house is empty without Micheal as well as Ranboo to be honest.
Although the silence was a bit nice, the reason for why was less so.
Although he notices that he hasn’t gotten any messages from Ranboo, and he would worry if he wasn’t sure the other had gone back to that awful pinkette - who was responsible for filling his husband’s head with such tales about the intentions of L’Manburg.
He wouldn’t consider any other option.
Tubbo_Underscore-Beloved: Ranboo you should come home to me
Tubbo_Underscore-Beloved: Because honestly this is really immature of you
Tubbo_Underscore-Beloved: I’m serious this is so childish, I thought such behaviour was beneath you
Tubbo_Underscore-Beloved: Come on Ranboo, are you being serious?!
He frowns as he notices Ranboo didn’t go into the chat to look at his messages, not liking the way that the Enderman hybrid doesn’t even deem this worthy of his time - and if he’s being honest it makes him angry that the taller male can’t even be bothered to look at his damn messages.
They’re married, so what’s more important then Tubbo?
“I can’t believe Ranboo’s believing all that bullshit they’re spouting, especially since they don’t even have any evidence of what they’re saying!” Tubbo scowls at the Underscore-Beloved family photo, so angry that Ranboo’s siding with them of all people - they’re the villains after all.
Honestly they’re more like monsters then people and should be treated as such, in fact Tubbo’s certain that they should be locked up and kept away from the rest of society to atone for their crimes - after all they’re the ones who blew up L’Manburg and took his and Tommy’s canon lives.
Monsters like them should be punished.
However he really does feel bad that he had got caught up in his anger so much that he hit Ranboo, having never wanted to hurt the hybrid since he cares for his husband who supplies him his money - it’s just that he was so mad Ranboo was questioning him.
Hopefully he’ll have learned to just smile and agree with the ram hybrid next time instead of fighting against him.
But of course he’s not going to apologise until after Ranboo does so, because if Ranboo had just either dropped it or seen that he was being silly then Tubbo would never have hit him - so really when he’s thinking about it it’s kind of Ranboo’s fault Tubbo had hit him.
It’s not like he’d been itching to hurt the Enderman hybrid.
Tubbo_Underscore-Beloved: Ranboo I’m not going to apologise until you come home
Tubbo_Underscore-Beloved: So come home so we can talk about this
Tubbo_Underscore-Beloved: Ranboo?
Why wasn’t he answering the messages?
Tubbo_Underscore-Beloved: Hello?
Tubbo_Underscore-Beloved: Seriously?
Why wasn’t he speaking with Tubbo?
Tubbo_Underscore-Beloved: If you had just stopped arguing, I wouldn’t have hit you
He hates the silence he’s getting from Ranboo, honestly this is really childish of him to not speak to his husband - he should honestly just say something to Tubbo or come home to the Ram hybrid.
Tubbo_Underscore-Beloved: Ranboo can you answer me?
Tubbo_Underscore-Beloved: Are you seriously just going to ignore me?
Is it really that hard to answer some messages?!
Tubbo_Underscore-Beloved: Ranboo?
Tubbo_Underscore-Beloved: Come on Ranboo, talk to me
But he could never imagine what happened next.
Tubbo_Underscore-Beloved: Seriously this thing you’re doing?
Tubbo_Underscore-Beloved: About ignoring me?
Tubbo_Underscore-Beloved: It’s getting ridiculous!
[Failure to send messages, due to user having blocked you]
He stiffens at seeing that pop up on his screen, but believes it’s an error since there’s no way this is happening - and so he tries again.
Tubbo_Underscore-Beloved: Ranboo?
But no, within seconds he’s once again seeing the same notification.
[Failure to send message, due to user having blocked you]
However he still tries.
[Failure to send message, due to user having blocked you]
[Failure to send message, due to user having blocked you]
[Failure to send message, due to user having blocked you]
Over.
[Failure to send message, due to user having blocked you]
[Failure to send message, due to user having blocked you]
[Failure to send message, due to user having blocked you]
And over.
[Failure to send message, due to user having blocked you]
[Failure to send message, due to user having blocked you]
[Failure to send message, due to user having blocked you]
And over again.
[Failure to send message, due to user having blocked you]
[Failure to send message, due to user having blocked you]
[Failure to send message, due to user having blocked you
One after another.
[Failure to send message, due to user having blocked you]
[Failure to send message, due to user having blocked you]
[Failure to send message, due to user having blocked you]
Because there’s no way that this is happening.
[Failure to send message, due to user having blocked you]
[Failure to send message, due to user having blocked you]
[Failure to send message, due to user having blocked you]
Right?
[Failure to send message, due to user having blocked you]
[Failure to send message, due to user having blocked you]
[Failure to send message, due to user having blocked you]
Ranboo would never block Tubbo.
[Failure to send message, due to user having blocked you]
[Failure to send message, due to user having blocked you]
[Failure to send message, due to user having blocked you]
But it finally hits him about what has happened.
That without a doubt, Ranboo has blocked him - for some reason unknown to the ram hybrid.
Tubbo grits his teeth as his hands clench into fists, furious that Ranboo would dare to do something this selfish - and he’s going to make him pay for it.
Dearly.
