Chapter Text
(S)he opens up my door and
I get into h(er) car and
(S)he says “you look beautiful tonight”
And I feel perfectly fine
It's been a while since Jihyo and I played together. Given the workload of a medical student, we try to play whenever we have free time to de-stress. She asks over the phone, "Hey, did you already open your kart rider?" "Yup.. wait there," I said, and then we began. We stopped playing after a few games and just talked. "When are we going to hang out again, Ji?" I inquired. We were quite busy at school because we were college students, so we didn't hang together as much. “Jeongyeon stated that she is free this weekend. "I'm also free this week," Jihyo added. "Okay, that's great; I'll ask Nayeon if she's available as well." I responded. I message Nayeon after the call to see if she's free over the weekend so we can get together again after such a long time. After a few minutes, my phone rang, and I knew it was Nayeon because my ringtone is different from the others (specifically her, calling my name)
“Minariii~ Minariii~ Minarii~” I heard Nayeon’s voice as I am at the kitchen. “Why?” I ask over the kitchen. “Minaarii~~~” she continued. I look over and saw her holding a phone so I come near and asked “Nayeon-chan, what are you doing?” I curiously asked. “Oh I record my voice for my caller's ID, so it will be your ringtone. It will be easier for you to know that it is me” she exclaimed enthusiastically. She flashed me her bunny smile, knowing full well that I can't resist it.. I groaned as I knew I lost.
"Hey, Minari, of course, I'm free," she says, her excitement apparent. Maybe it's because it's been so long since the four of us hung around. “Okay, that's great. I missed you, Nayeonnie” I was taken aback because I hadn't expected myself to say it like that. We last met almost two months ago, while we were both studying for our midterms. There was a little pause on her line, so I checked my phone to see if she had already ended it, but it was still going on. She lovingly answered, "Y-yeah, I missed you t-too Minari." We kept each other updated about our midterm results.
I went out the next day to get some snacks and drinks for our hangout tonight. I noticed Nayeon waiting for me as soon as I snuck out of our door, leaning against her car.
She smirked at me and added, "I assumed you would be shopping for groceries, so I decided to go with you." I hugged her and she seemed surprised, so as I moved away, she hugged me even tighter. She said, "I missed you Myoui." I responded, "I missed you too, bothersome Im."
We got out of the car as soon as she parked it in the parking lot. As she locked the car, I took the lead. She came up behind me and grabbed my hands. “So they won't flirt with you,” she explained. I retorted, "I didn't ask." She grabbed the cart as soon as we entered the store and pushed it while following me. I'd be the one to put the groceries away, and she'd just push it around. We went to her house after that, and I decided to just stay there till we went to Jihyo's house later that night..
She walked straight to the kitchen once we entered her house and asked me what she would prepare for our lunch. "Hey, what would we make for lunch?" she said as she rummaged through her kitchen cupboard. I volunteered, "I'll be the one who cooks." I heard her playing Bruno Major's "A Song For Every Moon" on her turntable as I was cooking in the kitchen. It's one of the best things I look forward to whenever I visit her. Perhaps it's due to the warmth of the house or (Nayeon's) warmth. Everything is serene.
"Can you prepare the plates, Nayeonnie?" "I'm almost finished." As I was transferring the meal into the bowl, I remarked. She replied, "Yeah, sure." We ate and just sat there, enjoying the warmth and atmosphere. Nayeon offered to wash the plates, so I went for a walk on her balcony to get some fresh air. I became caught in my thoughts as I was watching the vehicles drive past. When I felt a hand around my waist, I realized I was back to myself. When I turned around, I noticed Nayeon. "You're loving out here?" she asked as she walked alongside me. "Yeah, the feeling is simply calm, and I think I just want to live here forever," I replied, my gaze still fixed on the cars. Although her location is quiet, there is still a small amount of noise from the traffic, which adds to the atmosphere. "I mean, you could live here with me if you want," she simply stated. I nod, and there's stillness for a few moments before I comprehend what she's said. I turned my attention in her direction and was about to say something when the phone rang. "Not mine, check yours," she said as she checked her phone. I looked at the caller ID and it says "honey"*heart*. As I became flustered, I looked at Nayeon and saw her expression shift from surprise to confusion to curiosity as to who was calling. I excused myself and walked inside to take the phone call.
Nayeon stepped inside after the call and inquired, "Who is that?" "Oh, someone special," I said with a smile as I remembered them. "I'll introduce you to them soon." I added. "Oh, o-okay." She stammers. "We need to get ready to go to Ji's right now." She said, "You may borrow my clothes; I'll just take a bath first." I went into her room after she went into the bathroom. When I first spotted our photos, I was astounded. I still can't believe we were good friends, really good girl friends, till now. As we both grew together, I grinned. I look through her clothes and decide on a comfortable shirt and sweatpants. I also sprayed myself with her scent. Oh, how I like this scent. The warmth. Nayeon. I exited her room and was greeted by Nayeon as soon as I opened the door. "Even in your most casual clothes, you look beautiful." She made a start. She was also dressed in sweatpants, and I discovered that she was wearing my shirt, which I had left the last time I stayed with her. "Oh, Ms.Im, you compliment me far too much," I responded. "You're also wearing my shirt, the one I left last time," I stated simply, and she replied, "Well, I love the scent of it, it reminds me of home," she said as she went to grab the car keys and carry the food. I was left standing because I was taken aback. To snap out of my daydream, I shook my head and locked Nayeon's apartment.
When we arrived at Jihyo's house, Jeongyeon was waiting for us in the driveway, and we were both crushed by an embrace as we exited the car. It's no surprise that Jeongyeon greeted us so warmly after such a long period. Nayeon and Jeongyeon were both making quite a noise. Jihyo appeared at the door and joined us in our embrace. I felt at ease in the circle, which was full of "I missed you"s.
We began by playing games, and after a hundred rounds of Nayeon and Jeongyeon bickering, Jihyo appearing as the mother, and Nayeon losing a thousand times, we decided to watch a romance film that Nayeon adores and gushes about every minute. Jeongyeon, on the other hand, just snorts at romantic scenarios, which Jihyo stifles by elbowing her into silence. On the other side, I'm just loving seeing and possibly appreciating the way Nayeon embraces me in every sweet scene. After that, we decided to watch a comedy film and drink. Because Nayeon will be driving, she has chosen a cola, while the rest of us have chosen beer.
At 1 a.m., we decided to return home, and Nayeon opened the car's window for me to sober up. I brushed my teeth and drank water before falling asleep on the couch when we arrived at her flat.
The daylight from the window blinded me, causing me to wake up. I slid open my eyelids slowly and found myself in Nayeon's embrace. I examine her features carefully. I was so absorbed in my reverie that I didn't realize Nayeon had already opened her eyes and was staring at me. "Are you staring at me, baby?" she asked, her voice low and hoarse in the morning. As a result of my surprise, I moved backwards, causing me to tumble into the bed. Nayeon laughs first before assisting me. "Are you all right?" she asks. "No, I wasn't s-staring, I was daydreaming," I explained. "Daydreaming of me?" she joked. “H-huh?” I was stuttering. "Of course not," I reasoned, "I was only thinking of something." "Oh, how did I end up in your bed?" I curiously asked. She winked and said, "Of course I carried you like a bride." "Shut up, it's still morning, Im," I murmured, my cheeks burning up, and I rushed straight to the bathroom to freshen up.
When I exited the room, I discovered Nayeon in the kitchen. She's making pancakes and brewing coffee, based on the smell. The aroma of coffee and butter wafting from the pan is enticing. I assisted Nayeon in arranging the food on our plates and pouring the coffee into our mugs. I sat in the living room after breakfast, browsing my phone until I decided to order a vinyl of 'To Let a Good Thing Die.' I really want the songs in there, therefore I'm going to give it to Nayeon. I always think of Nayeon everytime I listen to Bruno Major, perhaps because she introduced it to me or because the sensation I get when I listen to it is the same one I get when Nayeon is around.
She drove me home because we both had classes the next day. I cleaned my flat and decided to study ahead of time for my class the next day. I wasn't paying attention to the time and was astonished to discover that it was already 7:30 p.m. I was debating whether to get food delivery or just eat ramyeon. My phone rang just as I was about to rise up. Nayeon. "Hey, I'm curious whether you've already eaten?" she inquires. "Oh, I was going to make ramyeon right now, but you called, so no," I replied"All right, great, wait for me" she murmured as she hung up the phone. Ehhh? While I waited, I turned on the television and let it play for a tiny amount of white noise. After a few minutes, my doorbell rang, and I opened it to see Nayeon standing there with a paper bag. I spotted pasta as she brought out the meal. "I've been wanting to attempt this dish in my head, and I thought you may as well, but it turns out you're still not eating." With a dissatisfied expression on her face, she stated. I hesitantly answered, "Oh, hehe, I was cleaning and reading textbooks for our lessons tomorrow." I changed the channel to Youtube and played "To Let a Good Thing Die." I was startled because this was Nayeon's first experience to the album's songs. She exclaimed, "I absolutely love it." We finished our night by watching a movie, and I offered her to sleep in my place because it was already late.
We slept next to each other, and I'd never experienced such peace.
We both got up early the next day, she borrowed my clothing, and we both proceeded to our own universities, with her driving me to class.
When I looked out the window and saw Momo and Sana strolling, I told Nayeon to come alongside them and kissed her cheeks before leaving. “Honey!” I yelled out.
Nayeon’s POV:
Mina told me to drop her off quickly, so I pulled over to the side of the road and kissed my cheeks as we said our goodbyes. I rolled down the windows to say my goodbyes, but I heard her scream out, "honey," and I peered out to see who it was. There are two other girls with her who I am not familiar with, but I believe they are Japanese because I can hear one of them speaking Japanese. "Darling," said the person with the lovely voice. Oh. That's the one who called Mina a couple of days ago. Is Mina dating now? Wasn't it true that she didn't have time for that? They strolled while the one with the pleasant voice kissed her cheeks and held her hands. I've been in a bad mood since leaving campus.
No one’s POV:
*Call of Misana*
Sana, in a sweet voice, called out, "Mitang." "How are things going for you?" Are you having a good time with the LOYL this weekend?" Sana enquired. "Hello there, Satang." LOYL?” Mina asked, perplexed. Love of your life, Mitang. Ms. Perfectly fine, Im Nayeon” she teased. Mina became aware of her blushing and exerted self-control. "Hah, I'm having a good time." We're now at her apartment.” Mina remarked. “Mitang, when are we going to meet her?” On the other end of the call, Momo's voice could be heard. "Soon," Mina responded quickly, smiling as she realized two of her closest friends were looking forward to meeting her girl friend. She met both of them at university. They didn't hesitate to befriend Mina as soon as they realized she was also a fellow Japanese, which is why the three of them have become friends. Sana and Momo were tethered to their hips, so it's no surprise that the moment Mina arrived, they became three. Others referred to them as "J-line." “I'm looking forward to meeting the person who makes our Mitang blush and who aren't always themselves, which is rare,” Sana added. "Enjoy the rest of your weekend in Nayeon's embrace." They say their goodbyes after she teases her.
