The door shut behind William shortly after he said his dues to the servant who brought him to his room. It was nothing special. Just like the hall, it had walls made of marble, same for the floor and roof. A Queen size bed sat against one of the walls, a night stand next to it. There was a bookshelf, though William did not seem to pay much attention to it. He was tired, he had a long journey to get to the Kings castle.
William lived on the outskirts of the kingdom, in the Far East. He was born on a farm to a loving mother and father, who completely supported his dream in joining the royal guard. They saved up every penny they could to send their son into the kingdoms center.
When he got their it was hard, he nearly considered quitting and heading home. He had made it into training school, but was transferred out. His fighting skills were as good as anyone else’s, but he was able to do something others could not, he had been trained in medicinal practices by his father, a physician.
One day during a practice exercise, a fellow student sprained his wrist. When Will realized, he properly set his wrist in a makeshift cast, impressing his instructors. They transferred him to the capital, where he would be able to practice in medicine, and continue his training as a guard.
This is why Lord Zeus chose him for such a quest, he didn’t believe William would be strong enough to fight the dragon but he knew that he would be able to handle his own otherwise, William was chosen because if anyone would be able to keep Nicoli in fighting condition against a dragon, it would be him.
