Delicate Screens

Chapter 2: Please Read the Authors Note!

Summary:

She didn't want this.

She wasn't fragile. She wasn't delicate. She just wanted to be useful. To help others.

She can no longer do that. . . No one can help her anymore. Not since she met. . . Not since she met the most wonderful person! Sensei will help her. He already saved her. He told her the truth, showed her the truth. And now with her help. He can finally realize and achieve his dream. And destroy this corrupted society.

She truly is fragile now. She's nothing more than delicate. Something delicate. Behind the screens.

Notes:

So umm. Not much I can really do here huh?

I’m not. . . I’m not well. Mentally. I can barely get to do what I want and, I’m not even happy myself continuing this story. Even though I love this concept. I love it with all my heart. It’s concepts where a Fem!Izuku helps the League either by Nomufication or Love of AFO or Shigaraki and she doesn’t turn on them. She’s devoted and loyal.

But I don’t think I can continue this story anymore. At least not how I’m currently going in my life. There will be more on where I wanted the story to go at the end of the chapter.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Screens.

So many screens.

It had been 2 years since she came into existence since Sensei saved her.  She doesn’t remember much about before she met Sensei.  But would it really matter?  All that mattered was serving him, making him happy, maybe he would even be proud of-

Villain attack in the Shizuoka Prefecture.  Quirk:  Sludge.  Thicker than slime, horrible smell.  Robbed a nearby grocery store.  Possible D Rank-

A spark was set off, her head jerking to the side as she gave a small hiss.  Doctor Ujiko needs to fix that.  Fix her.  Sensei should never see her glitching like this.  Sensei should never see her broken.  She must be perfect for him.  Perfect for him.  Perfect for him.  Perfect for him.  Perfect-

She shook her head, clearing her mindscape of any thoughts to focus her mind toward the screens again.

Glitches were normal.  They were common, like how a bird can accidentally crash against a window screen.  It happens.  There’s little to do about it.  It’s okay.  It’s alright.

It’s alright.

It’s alright.

It’s-

“Yukiko-San.  Give me a status report on the nearby areas of Kamino Ward.  Any new quirks that might empower the Master more?”

A balding man asked her, he seemed to have steampunk-esque goggles on, equipped with tiny magnifying lenses around the rim of them.  A bushy, almost frayed mustache decorating his upper lip, his face round and aging.  He also wore a lab coat, although the slight splatters of some dark purple fluid were around the tails of the coat.  This man was Doctor Kyudai Garaki, better known as Doctor Daruma Ujiko.

Also known as her creator.

“Of course, Doctor.  Recently there was a Villain attack near Tatooin Station, A common D Rank villain.  Quirk seems to be a form of a Gigantification-Mutant.  Animal traits are unclear, his head seems to resemble a shark while his muscular body seems to be by his own training.  This quirk is deemed. . .  Unfit for Sensei.”

Yukiko responded to the Doctor, looking over at him as he kept walking from the entrance into her room.  The blinding light of her screens against the pitch-black darkness that filled the room didn’t let her see him properly.  But after a full year of being in the room, she learned to adjust her eyes properly.  Wait, she's been here for longer than a year.  She’s been here her whole life.  Right. . .?  Right.  She’s been here since she first awoke.  That’s all that matters

“Another incident took place not long ago, no more than 15 minutes at the least.  A sludge-like quirk user robbed a nearby grocery store, seems to be able to make himself intangible and slippery via turning into a slime-like substance.  Although he seems to have his eyes and teeth vulnerable.  This might change should Sensei take the quirk.  But against power-like foes, a blast could send the sludge flying.  Still unknown if the sludge itself can regroup after attacks like that.  This quirk is deemed. . .  Unsuitable for Sensei.”

Yukiko finished saying, her report had been long but detailed.  She was meant to be a computer, something capable of great strategies and ruthless actions.  But she liked being detailed.  Sensei likes details.  So she does too.

The old Doctor sighed, running his hand through his non-existent hair in worry and his eyebrows scrunched together in thought.

“He won’t like this. . .  Ever since his fight all those years ago. . .  He’s been weaker than he’s ever been.  But you should know that better than anyone, Yukiko-San.”

He was right.  In the corner of her eye there he is, a window on her monitor showing Sensei’s vitals and health records.  She needs to keep an eye on them, track them in case of any fluctuations or emergencies.  She would’ve liked to track his brainwave activity in case of any other problems, but he just laughed her off and ruffled her hair when she asked.

Sensei needs new quirks.  He craves them like a starved man hungers for food.  But sometimes there just isn’t any grocery stores open.  No powerful quirks in the area.

Sensei hated when that happened.  Yukiko hated when that happened.

Doctor Garaki mumbled a few things as he came closer to her.  Grabbing one of the wires that were plugged into her skull and took it out.  She winced and hissed, her mind unplugging from the world and back into her body.

“Go check on Shigaraki-Kun, lately he’s been getting antsy about his first mission.  I haven’t the faintest idea what the Master see’s in that boy, but I’ve never been one to question him before.  Now go, and allow your mind to rest for a bit.”

He gave her a pat on the back as she slowly got up, her legs felt weak as her body wobbled un-steadily due to her hours and hours of sitting down.  She inhaled the stale air of her room, her respirator mask having been taken off when she got up.  She liked it, the silence and darkness of her room.  The only noise being the whirring of the computers and the only light being the monitors.  It felt. . .

Wrong to be outside of it.

Yukiko’s mint-colored hair covers her left eye a little as she walks into the bar from the underground complex, she wears an oversized white shirt and black shorts to cover herself up, not having much due to not ever needing much.  She always stayed in her room, why would she need anything more?

Her bare feet touched the hardwood floor of the bar, it felt warm compared to the cold she normally feels.  Her eyes moved over to look at Kurogiri, the Warp-Gate user cleaning a few dishes and cups, most likely used by the culprit in the corner of the room.  There sat Shigaraki on the couch, playing some sort of Video Game, it was probably something stupid too.  That’s what all of Shigaraki’s games were.

Yukiko gave a small wave towards Kurogiri.  The other Noumu gave her a wave back.  They weren’t close, to be honest, but they were both servants of Sensei, creations of the Doctor.  It wasn’t too far for both of them to acknowledge that they were a sort of estranged family.

She started walking towards Tomura, his mint-colored hair just a tad bit lighter than hers, his stature long and lanky which contrasted her shortness, the hand he wears resting right on his face as he continues to play.  Should she say something to begin the conversation?  Or would Shigaraki just say something to her either way?

“Your hand. . .  It covers most of your face.  How can you see the game without interruptions or obstruction?”

It was an honest question, and she actually wanted to know.  But maybe that’s why curiosity killed the cat.  Once she finished her question Shigaraki’s character on the screen died, at a closer glance, she realized he was playing an old fighting game.

“God damnit!  Fucking Christ!”

The anger radiating off of him almost made her flinch back, his grip on the controller becoming even stronger as it began to wither away and decay, turning to dust before it even hit the ground.

“Can’t you see I’m trying to win a game right now you-”

He stopped his rant, his eyes looking over to see Yukiko across the couch from him, his anger leaving him as quickly as it came as he gave a huff, lifting his hand to his neck to give it a scratch.

“I didn’t see you there. . .  Construct.  What are you doing here, don’t you have your own side-quests to do?”

There it was, that stupid nickname he gives to people.  What did Construct mean anyways?  She knew it stood for a creature created to either assist or interfere with the player but it never felt like it was something meant for endearment.  She’s heard him refer to Kurogiri as Construct to, but he always called the black Noumu’s Golems.  Maybe because they were broader and stockier?

It was weird.  He never really got mad at her, maybe it’s because Sensei designed her to look more like Shigaraki.  Sensei said it was purposely done to calm the tall man.  She wonders where her freckles come from though, she doesn’t see any on Shigaraki.

“Sensei wants to see how you’re doing, Shigaraki-San.  Your mission is coming up, and he worries you aren’t ready for it.  Are you up to date with the UA Student’s information?  The class attending the facility on that day?  Their specific quirks and abilities?  What about-”

Yukiko’s questioning was quickly cut off by Shigaraki putting his hand on her face, then pushing her back into the couch as he quickly stood up.  His posture hunched and his teeth gritted.

“Of course I’ve done my goddamn research.  Don’t you think I’ve seen their quirks?  Our mole told me them all!  None of them don’t stand a chance against Sensei’s Noumu, my Decay, Kurogiri’s Warpgate, or even your low-level version of Decay is better than their quirks!  One of them can just, be invisible.  Just be invisible!-”

The Mint-Haired Villain began scratching his neck, visible flakes of skin beginning to fall as he kept rambling on about their quirks and how “stupid and easy it is to wipe them out”.  Yukiko rubbed the back of her head as she hit the armrests of the couch when Shigaraki pushed her away from him.  It was always weird when Shigaraki touched her in any capacity, she bet it was weird for him too.  She had been created with a genetic code almost identical to Shigaraki’s, meaning there was no way for the man child to disintegrate her.  It’s not like she could do much against him even if she was immune to his quirk.

“-And then he’ll be there.  The Symbol of Peace himself.  And when he shows his face, Sensei’s Noumu will kill him.”

A crooked and wide smile overtook his features as he laughed his ear-wrenching laugh.  A spark of warmth in her heart as she saw the display, a small smile beginning to appear on her face.  She didn’t know why.  Maybe Sensei put it in her, or maybe it was just her.  But whenever she saw Shigaraki get passionate about something, whether it be his video games, beating others and winning, or even planning and getting ready for missions.  It was like seeing someone find their purpose.  And all she wanted was to help him, forward his passion, lead him to a future that wouldn’t belong to her.

But.  Maybe Shigaraki would bring her with him.

Notes:

For anyone who wants to pick up this fic, please please please do so. DM me if you do, I'd love to see it grow and become something wonderful.

So here's what I wanted:
I wanted the story itself to have Izumi/Yukiko to be an essential part of the League, and how Shigaraki conducts himself. Shigaraki thinks of Yukiko as a little sister, but most of all she's basically his Player Two. In this chapter Shigaraki said that Yukiko was basically his genetic duplicate with a few outliers, being her small stature, cute face, and freckles. But she has a version of Decay that differs from his own. I didn't go into a lot of detail so I don't really know what I wanted it to be. When she sees or talks to Sensei she becomes a normal excited child, talking to her Dad after he comes home from work. But normally she's analytical and robotic, not really doing anything on her own unless told to do something. Shigaraki wants her to act like him, but Sensei's commands are higher than his. Her costume is literally a direct copy of Shigaraki's. The hands can be of her past bullies (NOT BAKUGOS HE'S IMPORTANT TO THE MAIN PLOT.) or mechanical. She also has a lot of scars on her body, being genetically and anatomically modified to resemble Shigaraki and hold many other quirks. Also, focus on her height, her cuteness, and just how important she really is to the league itself. I wanted to make it a sort of serious but having funny undertones here and there kind of story. Like the actual MHA. But you're the ones writing it now.

For those who haven't read the manga stop here at the note and consider picking this fanfic up. For those who are caught up with the Manga.

I'd love a scene where Yukiko and Bakugo have an interrogation where Bakugo manages to get Izumi to appear for just the shortest of a second to give the heroes a hint. This of course taking place instead of the Kurogiri interrogation but holding the same weight. When AFO begins taking over Shigaraki later on, she has a moral conflict. She loves Shigaraki and wants him to succeed, but her love and devotion for Sensei is the very core of what makes Yukiko herself. So she does something to advance the takeover, or just lets it happen because at the end of the day Sensei is the most important thing to her.
