Chapter Text

The birds chirped as the sun began rising from the horizon. Akali got up. After having her nightmare she slept soundly.

Akali put her fingers in water that was in a wooden bowl beside her bed, and rubbed her face. After being more awake, she decided to change from her jinbei to her normal attire.

Shen was already waiting for Akali at the entrance of the dojo. He was sitting Indian style on the floor with his eyes closed.

“Akali, I have been waiting.” His voice boomed across the ambience. Akali chuckled sarcastically, “Like hell you’d be impatient.”

Shen did not react to the unnecessary statement. He opened his eyes and looked up.

“It's going to be a full moon, and may I add, it might rain.”

Akali rolled her eyes, then looked up as well. There were no clouds and only an orange clear sky remained. What do you mean…?, she thought.

Akali then felt sudden remorse, I shouldn't be too hard on him…

“I suggest you go on with your daily report to your mother. She wouldn't like the fact that you are late.”

Akali growled, stomping past him. “That woman is not my mother. She couldn't care less about whether I'm late or not.”

The entrance to the dojo was both traditional and symmetrical. Akali walked up the few stairs that laid on the concrete below her.

As she walked up the stairs, the students inside came into view. They were simultaneously training in straight lines.

Akali walked past them, heading towards the superior in the room. She was talking with one of the elders. And of course, another person she disliked, Faey.

Akali knelt down in front of them waiting for her orders. A moment passed until Maymm finished talking with the elder. She turned her attention towards Akali, who was impatiently waiting.

“Hmm. You're here. Late, as usual. Go. Clean up the cattle’s dung.” She said turning away from her.

A low growl was heard from Akali, which made Maymm square her shoulders.

“I will never… Be good enough for you… Will I?” Akali worded out loud. But Maymm heard her and so did Faey. Akali stood up, gazing around Maymm and all the students who had paused their training because of the sudden comment.

“No matter… How hard I try I will never be good enough for you! No matter how hard any of us try, we will never be good enough for you!”

She was furious now, glaring daggers at Maymm, at Faey, at the students, and at the elders. Maymm just stood there unfazed.

“No matter how hard I try! No matter how hard Faey tries, she will never be perfect enough for you! You just stand here all in your glory and pride, while WE ACTUALLY GET THIS SHIT DONE! EVERY TIME I WALK IN HERE, I SENSE YOUR DISAPPOINTMENT, AND EVERY TIME YOU LOOK AT FAEY YOU PRAISE HER!!”

Akali breathed while keeping her eyebrows furrowed. She muttered, “If only father saw you now, he would be so disap-”

A loud slap! rang in the air. Silencing the ambience around them.

A clear rosy handprint was plastered on Akali’s cheek. Akali held back the tears that threatened to fall.

A few moments passed in the silence. Akali’s head hung low.

“You…” Akali gulped. “I…-”

Maymm made a look of disgust and sneered, “What now, child ?”

Akali looked back up.

“I…,” Akali stopped. She looked down at her fists, nails were digging in her skin.

“I have important things to do. I am not going to . What did I do to receive such a disgrace?”

Akali sighed as she snapped her gaze up, glaring into Maymm’s hazel eyes.

“I’m leaving. I’m tired of you. I’m tired of Faey. I am working my ass off, just to make you proud of me… But I guess that won’t work. So I’m sorry. I didn’t ask to be born. I sincerely hope you rot in hell.”

And with that she walked away, having all eyes on her. Maymm was pleased. Faey was shocked, silently wanting her to come back.

Akali walked out of the dojo meeting Shen outside. His mask was not on, so she could see the sad look he gave her. That mask did a great job at hiding his emotions.

“I wish you good luck, Akali. Just remember, don’t break the balance, stay strong and healthy.” Just remember that I love you, make sure to stay safe, healthy and strong.

“I will Shen, thank you.” They hugged. Sadly I might add.

“Aren’t you two forgetting someone?” A voice came in. Of course…

“Oh, I didn’t forget you Master Kennen.” Akali swallowed the big lump in her throat.

“We will miss you.”

“The feeling is mutual, Masters.”

Akali walked into the woods, her pack bag draped over a shoulder. She looked back, a certain nostalgia hitting her. One last glance at the dojo, and she left.
