Chapter Text

When Chrom came to, he had thought he had noticed two things. One was that the bone he was in the shade fell, and that if he were still there, he would be dead. The other is why he wasn’t currently a pancake under a bone.

“Obin, what are you doing here?” Chrom exclaimed, with the male counterpart of his wife, or maybe ex-wife (it was hard to say given the lack of an actual divorce), currently on top of him.

“Do you really have to call me that?” Robin responded, annoyed. “But for your information, I was concerned about what was going on and why Robin ran off, along with why your room was torn apart and also slightly on fire.”

Chrom exhaled, “Well, do you want the long version, or the short version?”
“Long version”

“First, get off of me.”
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After explaining the whole deal, Obin was looking at Chrom with a look of disbelief. “So, Robin is now possessed by Grima due to you deciding to cheat on her, which led to her exile and fleeing the mansion.”

“Thank you for summarising my failures over the last however long.” Chrom responded with a tone of annoyance and resigned defeat.

“Well, I can say a few things about the situation that might clear some things up. First off, Lucina and Marc are not dead.”

Chrom, showing earnest surprise at that, exclaimed, “But she said she killed them, not to mention I saw her tossing Lucina’s cape into a fire! Why do you think that is not the case?”

“Given the circumstances, I assume she was trying to hurt you as much as possible, so making you think you were responsible for the deaths of your children would hurt a lot.

“That makes some sense.”

“And I came to that conclusion due to not seeing either Marc’s tactician greatcoat or Lucina’s Falchion. So, unless she took both of those with her, which for the point of causing you pain, would be counterproductive.”

Chrom looked incredibly relieved at that revelation, “Okay, so Marc and Lucina are probably alright, but what about now being Grima?”

Obin pondered for a bit, before responding, “Likely, she learned how to unleash Grima’s power to some extent, while also maintaining control. She came to me after the incident asking to head to my home.”

“Wait, you let her into your home, despite what she has done today?”

“One, I didn’t know until later, and two, she did not really do that much damage.”

“Tell that to Zelda and Link,” Chrom responded, slightly melancholically.

“Oh, they will live, the damage was not that bad.”

“Well, she still injured a lot of people today.”

“Fair, but nobody currently resides at my home, so there is no real risk. But speaking of Zelda, why did you participate in an affair?” Obin asked, with a subtle hint of disdain at the action.
“It has to do with power, I guess. After the war in our world, me and Robin were kicked out of Ylisse, as well as our children.”

“Let me guess, marriage to the vessel of Grima and having children who tainted the blood of Naga.”

“Yeah, how did you guess that?”

Obin exhaled, and said melancholically, “Because the same thing happened to me and Tiki, we were forced to leave Ylisse due to the people being angry at the concept of the Voice of Naga marrying and having a child with the vessel of Grima, regardless of what I did to save the country.”

“Well, with that in mind, you did have it better. Tiki had the Mila tree to stay at and so you had a safe place to raise your family,” Chrom stated, with a level of resentment, not necessarily at Obin, but it could have been.

“That still does not answer my question, why did you cheat? The stress of moving around and raising a family might have done it, but I don’t think that’s all of it.”

“Well, I guess there is something to that. While I can’t say I no longer love Robin, the nature of how our relationship has resulted in much more stress on us with having to raise baby Lucina, worrying about having Marc born, and trying to evade being recognized as the ex-exalt, the vessel of Grima, and their mixed-blood children.”

Obin asked, “But is there anything else?”

“Why are you acting like a one-sided marriage counselor?”

“I want to know what is going on, and I also want to try and get you to go down the path of trying to fix this mess.”

“Alright, fine, I’ll tell. The thing is that, I guess I think I am destined to be royalty, and me and Robin’s marriage took that away.”

“Why do you think you are destined to be royalty?”

“I guess, my father. He instilled that the Lowell line is destined to at least have one member of the family on the throne at any point, and that I have not really outgrown that.”

“Wait, if that is the case, shouldn’t Lissa fulfill that requirement?”

“She… Lissa died while we were fighting Grima. She had spent her last moments making sure others were able to continue to fight.”

“Oh, well, I’m sorry for your loss. That doesn’t explain why you tried to have an affair with Zelda, which is probably the biggest issue.”

“One, she was the only princess without an explicit partner, as Link is her knight, and two, her kingdom was the only one with an actual standing army, and so I hoped to either threaten or invade Ylisse, and I know how bad that sounds, but it made sense to me.”

“Chrom, there is a reason why you, across all the versions of you, have hired a tactician in every single one, let alone the likelihood of you being able to get an army into another dimension,”
Robin said, dumbfounded by Chrom’s lack of foreplanning.

“Well, given the circumstances, what do I do now?”

“I guess, go to my home and try and make it up to Robin, as well as finding your kids.”
“Will that work?”

“Maybe. Regardless, bye, and best of luck in accomplishing those tasks.”
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When Robin (male one, no longer has to go by Obin due to female Robin leaving) returned to the Mansion, he decided to talk to Master Hand and see how things have progressed since he left. What he was not expecting was to be taken to Master Hand’s office with his wife and daughter.

“So, you might be wondering why you are here, along with if this relates to what happened earlier today. The answer to the latter is yes, by the way,” Master Hand stated.

“Right on the gold, MH,” Morgan responded, less chipper than usual due to the incident earlier that day.

“Well, I’ll be brief. I need your help recruiting another female Robin, Chrom, and Lucina. I have already asked Midna to assist in helping find a new Link and Zelda,” Master Hand said.
Tiki asked, “Wait, why do we need more of the fighters we already have?”

“Chrom and Lucina are both gone, I have no idea where they are, plus Chrom has officially signed out of the tournament, female Robin has been banned for various reasons, and Link and Zelda have also signed out due to concerns about what has transpired happening again, along with needing time to recover.”

Robin sighed, “Of course they did, is there anything else that needs to be done?”
“Oh yeah, until we find a new female Robin, Morgan will fill her place in for tournaments.”
“All right, time to prove my worth”.

“In any case, due to this event occurring between major tournament seasons, we only have to worry about exhibition matches, and we do have time to replace fighters.” Master Hand continued to talk about various concerns about the replacements that needed to be found, and then sent the family out of the room to get to work.

“That should have been expected,” Robin said, a level of understanding given the circumstances that have occurred.

“So, should we head out?” Morgan asked, ready to take on anyone or anything.

“First, I need a nap.” Robin then proceeded to head to their room, ready for more sleep.

Notes:

Well, that's the final chapter. Hope you enjoyed my first fanfic, and if you did not, I understand. In any case, I want to work on writing more over the course of December, given that college is over for the semester. As a result, I hope to write a new chapter for a fic at least twice a week, so hopefully more stuff will be coming out. I have a good number of ideas, and I hope I can do them justice, given how much I like the ideas. Bye for now.

Notes:

Well, here we are. I will fully admit, a good number of characters may feel out of character, and I do apologize in advance. I fully admit, this is more of a transplanting of a cast of characters into a different plot, and so it might not line up well.
I do want to include my inspirations for this, as one I just think is funny, and it will help contextualize why some characters (particularly Chrom and Zelda) might feel out of character.I’ll do one here, on in the next chapter.
My first inspiration is a comic by Wooden Plank Studios surrounding the entry of Pyra and Mythra into Smash. One panel of the comic has Chrom dressed up in order to meet them. As any of you who have played Awakening, or Smash, or just read this fic, will know that Chrom is married and has a child. Maybe not necessarily to female Robin, but nonetheless, he is a married man with a time-displaced daughter. Who is in the game. Internally, I was screaming at him as one would a best friend who is doing something stupid. I know the comic artist was just having fun, but I still had that reaction because I thought it was funny.
So, take the Chrom who, despite being married, is waiting to meet the new girl, and apply one of the most common Chrom ships, Chrobin, and see what happens. There is one other inspiration, but as I said, I will reveal that next time.
