Chapter Text

When Atsushi opened her eyes, a void of white greeted her. It was like the world was ripped of all its color.

It was just nothing.

"What?" She whispered, eyes wandering. "Where am I?" The female turned her head to look behind her and came face to face with a tiger. Atsushi screamed at the sight of the massive beast, falling back and scrambling to get away.

It was the tiger from the Tsurumi River. But why was it here? Atsushi trembled as the feline narrowed its eyes at her scream. Was it going to hurt her? Would it kill her? She waited for the tiger to make a move, a sound, anything but it never moved. It just sat before her, tail curled around its body, a light blue hue enveloping the mammal.

"Y-you.." Atsushi stuttered out, unsure what to say. The tiger only tilted its head silently. It looked calm but its eyes narrowed as it stared her down. Was it judging her? Analyzing? It was hard to tell.

It didn't seem like it wanted to harm her so Atsushi crawled forward slightly. She stopped when she was just a bit away from the tiger, she watched for any movement, but the tiger stayed still. "Who...Who are you? What are you?" Atsushi asked, she didn't realize she was even asking until the last word left her mouth.

The tiger let out a low rumble, tip of its tail flicking. It was as if it was talking and for some reason, Atsushi could understand it. "Me? You're me? What does that mean?" She asked quietly. The tiger let out a grunt, sounding annoyed and frustrated. And without another word, the feline took to all four, turned and began to walk away into the white void surrounding them.

"Wait!" Atsushi yelled, standing up and taking off after the tiger. Why was she chasing it? It was dangerous! All it has done was cause destruction! But...But she couldn't stop herself from going after it, she needed to follow it. She needed to talk to it. "Come back!" Atsushi tried to catch up with the beast, reaching a hand out as if she would grab it. But no matter how far or fast she ran, she could never get close. It was always out of reach, getting farther and farther away. "Please!!"

Atsushi awakened with a shout, her body shooting up from where she laid and hand reaching out to grasp something. "Wait!" She screamed, but she wasn't in the white void, instead she was in a small apartment.

The apartment wasn't very big, it was more like a small flat or studio. There was an open room, which she was in with a futon, just a wall separating it from a little dining area. The apartment had a kitchenette, a tiny hallway that led to other doors. The place was mostly bare, except for the furniture here and there. It was just enough for one or two people.

"Where am I?" Atsushi questioned out loud, gaze inspecting the place. She was confused, this wasn't the orphanage. It was nicer. Just then everything from last night hit her, the events resurfacing in her memories.

She was kicked out of the orphanage and ran into Dazai and Kunikida. Dazai recruited her into helping them find the tiger that was causing havoc, only to learn that tiger was her all along.

Atsushi sighed heavily, dropping her face into her hands. So much had happened and Atsushi was reeling from the sequence of events. Apparently, she had some kind of special gift that allowed her to turn into a tiger. But she couldn't even control when or where she would turn or control the tiger. She couldn't even remember turning into the tiger! What would her life be like now?

As Atsushi was questioning everything and worrying for the future, a loud ringing filled the room and startled her from her thoughts. The female jumped, searching for the source of the loud ringing before her eyes landed on a phone. "It's ringing!" She scrambled out of the futon and to the phone laying nearby. "U-um what do I press?" She mumbled, fiddling with the device when she picked it up. Flipping it open, Atsushi looked at the buttons before spotting one that had a little green telephone symbol. "This one?" She pressed the button and awkwardly held the device to her ear. "H-hello?"

"Ah, Atsushi-kun!" A cheery voice greeted through the speakers. "You're awake, sleep well? Do you like your new place?" The voice inquired, sounding curious. It took a second before Atsushi recognized the voice. It was Dazai!

"Oh, Dazai-san!" Atsushi squeaked when she finally realized. "I slept very well, thank you." Her sunset eyes glanced around the place again. It was lovely. "This is my place?"

Dazai chuckled on the other side. "Yes, it is! I left some clothes for you by the futon, I hope they fit!"

Atsushi glanced to the bedside, finally spotting the pile of folded clothes. Well that was thoughtful of them. "Oh thank you, I see them."

"Wonderful! I do have a favor to ask, I seem to be in a bit of trouble. Do you think you can help me?" Atsushi could hear him make a small grunt on the other line. "Of course!" Atsushi instantly replied, it was the least she could do. "I'll be right out, okay?" Dazai made a small agreement noise before he hung up.

The silver haired girl glanced at the phone before she closed it. She needed to hurry and get ready so she could lend a hand to Dazai. Placing the phone down, Atsushi turned to the pile of clothes and went through them. It was a simple outfit of a white button up and a high waisted, black skirt. Alongside them was a black tie, a pair of boots and thigh high socks, as well as a black belt. There was also a pair of black, fingerless gloves and suspenders.

They didn't look brand new but they were well taken care of. Atsushi felt something warm in chest, clothes for her. They looked comfortable to wear, a little big but it wasn't bad.

Atsushi stood her spot, quickly changing into the new clothing. She had to adjust the shirt, struggling for a second before she moved on to the skirt. It was a little big around her waist but it had belt loops so she tightened the belt to make sure it wouldn't slip. She adorned the rest of the outfit, having a slight confusion with the suspenders before she figured them out. Atsushi glanced down at her outfit and wondered what she looked like. The female walked to one the mysterious doors, opened it and poked her head in, a bathroom and it had a mirror. Perfect. She shuffled into the room and stood before the reflective glass.

The button up was baggy but Atsushi had tucked it into the waistband of the skirt, it would have hidden the skirt if left out. The skirt reached just above mid-thigh; the socks were just inches away with a sliver of her skin exposed. Her boots reached a little past her ankles, the tie and gloves fit well with the entirety of the outfit. The belt was long, even with being looped through the belt loops a few times, it made her look like she had a little tail. Atsushi giggled quietly at the thought.

Looking into the mirror, Atsushi could see that her hair was cleaner and showed the lighter shade of her silvery locks, along with the strange black strand that blended in her hair. Someone must have bathed her while she was unconscious, Atsushi blushed a bright pink. She really hopes that person that bathed her was female, although it was still embarrassing.

Her eyes wandered back to her outfit and a small smile grew. She felt...cute. When was the last time she felt like this? Has she ever felt cute? She twirled, the skirt fanning out as she did, and Atsushi giggled again. Her nimble fingers grabbed the hem of the skirt and rubbed the material. She never had clothes this nice. It was nice of Dazai to put together an outfit.

Wait…

Dazai!

Atsushi bolted out of the bathroom and ran to the front door before skidding to a stop, she ran back to the futon and grabbed the phone before rushing back to the door and out. The door slammed behind her, she spotted a set of stairs and speedily went down them.

“Yoo-hoo Atsushi-kun! Over here!” A voice called cheerfully, and Atsushi’s head snapped in that direction and she could see Dazai in quite a strange position. “Uh Dazai?” She walked to where Dazai was, a little courtyard before the apartment building, his head poked out from a steel drum and feet stuck out at the same time. “What are you doing?” Atsushi asked, and she was honestly scared of his answer.

Dazai only gave a closed eye and bright smile. “You’re wearing the clothes! You look quite cute!” Atsushi’s cheeks turned pink at his comment, shaking her head. “Don’t ignore my question.” The brunet chuckled. “Well you see...” He started. “I was trying out a new method I found, I thought I could try it.” And there it was, Atsushi knew she wouldn’t like the answer. “But it is rather painful so could you lend me a hand? I don’t think I can keep flexing my abdominal muscles like this, I’m at my limit.”

“Why not keep it? Isn’t the purpose of this to kill you?” Dazai threw Atsushi a disgruntled look and scoffed like she had personally offended him. “I don’t want it to hurt, no one likes pain.” Atsushi raised a brow in question. Dazai was such a strange man. “Okay?”

Atsushi walked around the drum, trying to figure out a way to free Dazai before she finally decided to tilt the thing over carefully. “Why didn’t you call someone from the agency?” She grabbed Dazai’s arms and tried to pull him out from there, grunting as she tugged. “Well I did but do you know what they said when I called?” It took a few pulls before Atsushi managed to get the male out, nearly falling back onto her bottom if she didn’t catch herself. “Die?”

“Correct!” Dazai stood up, dusting his clothes free from whatever dirt that clung to the fabric. He stuffed his hands into coat pockets, looking Atsushi up and down, making her cheeks flush under his stare. He moved closer and leaned down slightly to reach Atsushi’s height, face mere inches from her. “Truly Atsushi, you look cute in those clothes.” He reached a hand around to grab at the belt and wrapped it around one of his fingers. “You even have a tail, like a little kitty.” Dazai looked up at Atsushi with a growing smirk, he twirled the belt around his finger a few times. Atsushi’s cheeks grew a brighter shade, and she snatched the belt from Dazai’s hand, stumbling backwards. Dazai watched her with a teasing look, flashing her a quick wink.

“A-anyways, what are you doing?” Atsushi squeaked, quickly trying to avert the attention away from her. Dazai decided to let her do as he stood to his full height. “I was actually coming to talk to you about some work.” Atsushi perked up at the mention of work, tilting head in a puppy-like manner. (Or cat-like manner in this case.) “You were?”

“I know just the person! To the agency!” Dazai yelled, pointing a finger in a random direction, and the pair began leaving the complex and heading into the main street. As they walked, Dazai placed a hand on his chest and a hand on his hip, smiling smugly. “You will have nothing to fear with me on your Atsushi-kun! I am positive that I-!!”

“THERE YOU ARE!!”

Before the two could turn, someone came running over and whacked Dazai, the brunet yelped, and his hands flew to cradle his assaulted head. “Owie!”

Kunikida growled as he glared at Dazai with a sharp gaze. “You waste of bandages!” The blond yelled; fist balled up like he was resisting the urge to hit his partner more.

“Kunikida-kun! Do you see the way he treats me, Atsushi-kun?” Dazai whined again, moving to get closer to the silver haired girl until Kunikida stepped in the way and blocked him off. “AH! Take a step back, pervert!” He hissed, causing Dazai to pout. “I’m not a pervert, that hurts!” Kunikida’s eyes narrowed, and he scoffed. “As if, you have grabby little grope hands.” Dazai opened his mouth again, most likely to whine more before Kunikida interrupted. “And why are you running around at a time like this?”

Dazai raised a brow, dropping his hands to his side. “Like this? Why are you so strung up? Being too stressed like this will give you hemorrhoids!” Kunikida’s eyes grew wide. “Really?” Atsushi frowned as Dazai pulled the same trick on Kunikida that he did yesterday. “Yeah! You should really write that down!” Kunikida nodded quickly and pulled out his book, flipping to a page and writing. A shit eating grin on Dazai's face and he giggled. “I’m lying~!” He said in a sing-song tone. Kunikida grabbed his pen so tight that it actually caused cracks, and Atsushi winced.

“You-!!” He lunged to attack Dazai, tackling him, he grabbed Dazai’s wrists and began to pull them back, keeping him down with just foot to his back. Dazai yelled in pain at the violent act. Atsushi decided to speak up before he possibly broke Dazai’s spine. “Um…What did you need Kunikida-san?” Atsushi asked awkwardly.

Kunikida let go of Dazai and the other fell to the ground with a loud yelp, he paid no mind to the fallen man. “Right! There’s an emergency!” Dazai was getting himself off the ground and looked to Kunikida with confusion. “There’s a crazy bomber and he held himself in the office with a hostage.” Kunikida said slowly, a nervous but angry look on his face. And that sent alarm and a sense of uneasiness throughout the two’s bodies.

______

The group arrived at the office after racing there. They had snuck their way into the building, quickly ducking behind something to take cover and stay hidden. The bomber was a young male with a slim build, orange hair and hazel eyes. His hair was parted in the middle with spikes facing downward and a bobby pin clipped to the left side of his head. He wore an oversized white v-neck sweater that dropped off his right shoulder and a black tank top as an undershirt, he had a pair of light blue jeans and wore a pair of silver earring cuffs. He was located atop a desk near the back of the room, and a terrified girl sat at the floor of the desk.

Atsushi felt her heart clutch as tears filled the girl’s eyes. She must be so scared.

“I can’t take it anymore.” The bomber mumbled, barely above a whisper. “This is all the agency’s fault!” He yelled, holding a remote in one hand and roughly grabbing the girl by the shoulder and pulling her back. The girl went with, unable to do anything as she was tied and gagged, all she could do was let out a muffled scream. “Where is the president?!” The bomber yelled again, he looked like he was getting angrier by the second. “Get him out now or I’ll blow everyone here to nothing!”

“Geez.” Dazai whispered, carefully peeking over the edge of their hiding place. “He’s got a grudge.” Kunikida was standing behind a wall next to them, peeking like Dazai. Atsushi glanced between the two males and wondered how they looked so calm in a situation like this. Someone was threatening to blow them all up! Were they used to stuff like this? It would make sense since they were usually involved in dangerous things like this.

Dazai pointed out a bomb near the hostage. “These are some high explosives.” He explained. “It’s enough to destroy the whole room, well, unless we find something to cover the blast.” Atsushi gulped nervously, this put them in even more danger than they were before. How were they going to stop them? Maybe they could call the police and request a bomb threat team, that would probably work. Before Atsushi could suggest such an idea, Dazai spoke again. “Let him see the boss.” Kunikida immediately shot the idea down. “He’ll kill him! Besides, he's on a business trip!”

“In that case...” Dazai’s eyes glinted with a serious look and Kunikida’s eyes did the same as soon as Dazai looked at him. The blond dropped to the ground and Dazai shifted to face him, the two stared into each other’s eyes. Atsushi waited with anticipation, they looked determined when they swiftly threw their arms in motion. Maybe they were going to do a special move and take out the bomber, save the hostage and everyone else. Their hands came to a stop and Atsushi gaped in disbelief as they both engaged in a game of rock-paper-scissors. “What?”

The two went for two rounds as they came to a draw twice, but Dazi ended up winning when he pulled paper and Kunikida came up with rock. Dazai grinned from ear to ear with a cocky smile. Kunikida eyed him with dismay, clutching his fist as the brunet continued to rub his victory in. “I winnn~.” He giggled, shooing Kunikida away. The blond was shaking with anger as he made his way out of their hiding place and into the open, scoffing under his breath.

“Really?” Atsushi muttered. Were they really powerful detectives? Or were they children? She shook her head and instead turned her focus on the situation on hand.

Kunikida approached the bomber slowly, like he was dealing with a cornered animal that would leash out at any second. Which in a way, was true, any sudden movement could set the bomber off and kill everyone. “You!” The bomber instantly yelled when he noticed the agency member. “Stay away!” The bomber thrusted his hand out, thumb hovering over the denote button and threatening to press it. “I will blow this place sky high if you get any closer!!”

At the threat, Kunikida was quick to stop all movement, only raising his hands up slowly. “Relax kid.” He said, lowering his voice. “I’m no-”

“I know who you are, you’re Kunikida!” The bomber hissed, eyes narrowing. “You have one of these bizarre gifts, huh? Any funny business and everyone is dead!”

Dazai pulled away from where he was looking, sighing. “He’s done his research, this isn’t good. He really resents us.” Dazai held his chin in thought, calculating everything that had happened in his head. Since the kid did his research, that means he would know who Dazai and if he were to walk out, it would only make the situation worse. “I can’t go out there.” If they had a distraction or something, they could catch the bomber off guard and stop him from doing anything at all. Dazai hummed under breath, looking around the area until he came across Atsushi and grinned.

Atsushi knew right then and now that wasn’t a very good look and it had to do with her. “Oh no.” Atsushi breathed out.

“Atsuuuushi-kun~.” Dazai said sweetly. “No.” Atsushi said immediately. “I didn’t even say anything.” Whined Dazai with a pout.

“I already know what you’re thinking and no.”

“But sending more members would anger him further, he knows everyone but you.” What Dazai said made sense, but Atsushi still didn’t think it was a good idea. She could make one wrong mistake and doom everyone. She couldn’t do that; it was too much pressure. “I can’t possibly distract him!” Atsushi stressed, hands hovering uselessly as she clutched and unclutched her fingers. “How would I even stop him?!”

“Just distract him and we’ll take care of everything else.” Dazai spoke with a reassuring smile. “You could pretend to be some unlucky girl!” Atsushi only gave him a look. “Have some faith!” Atsushi was pushed out of the hiding place and forced into the open. She snapped her head to Dazai, who gave her a thumbs up and nothing else.

Goddamnit.

Atsushi slowly turned back and nearly fainted at all the eyes on her, using all her will to not just run from the prying eyes. She couldn’t do this! What was Dazai thinking putting her out here like this! Atsushi could feel her body tremble, she was going to fail and kill them all. Her mind ran through all the bad endings that this situation could end in when she got involved and every single one ended up with someone dead or everyone dying. The female almost fell into a full-blown panic attack when her eyes landed on the hostage, teary eyes stared back.

She felt her heart clench again at the sight and Atsushi couldn't even compare her own fear to hers. Being held hostage, unable to escape as she was used as some bargaining tool. Atsushi couldn't leave her like this.

"H-hey!" Atsushi yelled, trying her best to sound brave, even though she didn't sound one bit like it. "Stop what you're doing! Y-your parents are probably crying over wh-what their son is doing!"

"Ha?!" The bomber scowled at her. "Who the hell are you?!"

Atsushi screamed internally. Scary!

Quickly Atsushi tried to think of something to say, stuttering over her words before finally coming up with something to say. "I-I-I'm just a passerby who happened to see what you were doing!" Atsushi blurted. "This is wrong! These people are innocent!”

“Don’t give me that bullshit! You all need to die!”

Atsushi still didn’t know what to do but Dazai said to act like an unlucky girl, right? She could do that, and so Atsushi began to spout anything that came to mind. “Look at me!” She yelled. “I’m an orphan, I have family or friends! I was kicked out of my orphanage, I have nowhere to go or anyone to rely on!” Atsushi couldn’t stop herself from talking, she found herself ranting about everything that had happened. She was so used to bottling things up that when the time finally came to talk about her emotions, she started word vomiting.

The bomber looked bewildered at her unexcepted onslaught of words; he physically draws back as she continued on.

“And supposedly I turn into a ferocious tiger. The military would have me executed if they found me!” Atsushi ran her hands halfway through her hair and gripped the locks. “I have no skills! I’m just human garbage!” She then threw her hands into the air, gesturing dramatically and the bomber staggered back more in surprise. “Don’t fall into despair, you need to keep on living!”

‘Waaa, she’s doing so good at acting.’ Dazai thought as he watched the entire time with a cheery smile as Atsushi went on and on. Eventually she began sprouting nonsense about how even worms have a drive to keep on living and the bomber only became confused. What was he supposed to do? She just kept talking and he could barely keep up anymore. “Just drop the bomb and we can look for a job, okay?” The bomber recoiled at the look on the female’s face, it was honestly scary, and he found himself looking away as she stared. “A-actually I’m not, uh, really looking-”

NOW!

Kunikida took the opportunity to jump into action when the bomber was distracted, jumping off the desk and pulling out his precious notebook. “I’m using a page from my book and I’m hoping it won’t be in vain.” The blond wrote something on a page, quick with the pen, before ripping the page out. “Doppo Poet!” A faint green aura surrounded Kunikida and the page he ripped out was swallowed by the green light, growing brighter as it seemingly changed forms. “Wire gun!” And with that, a wire gun emerged in place of the paper. Kunikida took aim, pulling the trigger and the wire came flying out, pulling the remote from the orange haired male’s hand.

“Go!!!” Dazai yelled out as the device went flying. Kunikida charged, aiming a swift kick to the bomber’s face and effectively knocking him to the ground. Once the bomber was down, Kunikida swooped in, moving fast and quick, grabbing the bomber’s arms and pinning them behind his back with no way of escape.

Dazai came out of hiding, beaming. “That’s a wrap!” Atsushi looked in awe at the quick reactions of Kunikida, she was amazed at how he jumped into action without a second thought and was successful in putting a stop to the villain of the situation. She looked the bomb and noticed how the clock was blank, she let out a sigh of relief at the sight. “Thank heavens.” She whispered, glancing back at the others. Dazai flashed her a smile and gave a thumbs up, Atsushi gave a nervous smile and a small wave.

Suddenly she was falling when she felt a light pressure on her back, sending her forward. Atsushi couldn’t stop herself; gravity was forcibly pulling her down. She yelped loudly when she hit the ground, her hand landing on something and a small ‘beep’ sounding out. She lifted her hand up, frowning at the sound. “Beep?” She looked to where her hand landed, the remote. “Ahh!!”

Both Dazai and Kunikida turned. “Ah.” They mumbled, staring at the device Atsushi just pressed. "You pressed it."

Atsushi screamed louder when the timer started up again, coming to life at a mere five seconds. “The bomb!” Kunikida yelled. “It’s in five seconds!”

‘It’s going to go off!’ Atsushi was full on panicking now, hands hovering uselessly over the remote when she shot up from her position on the floor. It was going to kill everyone. Atsushi looked around for something, even though she didn’t know what she was looking for when Dazai’s words from earlier rang inside her head. ‘I need something to cover it! But what?’ She searched around her for anything but couldn’t think of anything to use. What was she going to do?! Her eyes wandered to everyone else in the room, the shock and fear in their faces triggered something in her.

Dazai watched in astonishment as Atsushi threw herself over the bomb, curling her small body around the life taking device with her arms wrapped around it. “Wha-..” He couldn’t speak for a moment as he stared at the girl. She was clearly scared but she didn’t make any movement to move off the bomb. “You fool!” He yelled, surprised at his own yell.

The beeping of the countdown came to an end and Atsushi’s eyes shut, she tried to mentally prepare herself for whatever was about to happen. She waited and waited until she realized that nothing happened, no pain or a burning feeling of any kind. Nothing. She tentatively opened her eyes and looked up, Dazai, Kunikida and the bomber stood over her.

“You have the makings of a suicide enthusiasts Atsushi-kun!” Dazai said with a giggle. Kunikida rolled his eyes at the brunet, shaking his head, directing his attention to Atsushi. “I thought you were a fool but now I’m sure of it.”

Heterochromia eyes blinked, baffled. “Wha-what?”

But before anyone could answer her, a squeal broke through the moment and captured their attention. “Ahh!!” A blur came flying and knocked over the supposed bomber, the ‘hostage’ takes him to the ground and rubbed their cheeks together. “Big brother!!” Atsushi watched the interaction with utter confusion. “What?”

“Kid.” Kunikida called. “First off, you can blame Dazai.” He started. “Or yourself, you did trust an idiot like him for help finding a job.”

Dazai smiled at the look on Atsushi’s face when her eyes landed on him. “You could say it was a kind of an entrance exam!”

“Exactly.” Declared a new voice, footsteps entering the room.

Yukichi Fukuzawa—Gift: All Men Are Equal

A tall man appeared at the entrance, his presence strong and intimidating. He had long silver hair, blue metallic like eyes with slight wrinkles beneath. He wore a green yukata underneath a black haori that had golden hems and a zigzag pattern, a pair of flat sandals and traditional divided white socks on his feet. He looked over with a stern look, eyes zeroing in on Atsushi. The she-tiger shrunk under his gaze.

As soon as he made his presence known, everyone bowed, greeting him with a short but welcoming ‘boss'. Atsushi let out a small squeak, jumping in surprise when they addressed him. “B-boss?”

The silver haired male gave everyone a small nod before he spoke again, the new voice was definitely him. “Dazai informed me of a promising, young lady with a talented gift.” He said, glancing at the male when he mentioned his name, Dazai gave a cheerful wave. “I wanted to test this young lady he spoke of.”

“I recommended you to the boss, but since you take the form of a beast, there was some discussion over whether we should keep and protect you.” Atsushi’s jaw dropped at how casual Dazai was, like he was talking about daily things in life and not her fate. “So we decided to test you.”

Kunikida piped up after Dazai finished talking. “Your decision, sir?”

The president stared and Atsushi had to resist the urge to flinch as he scanned her, it was like something was weighing her down and she couldn’t escape. She wanted to avoid his stare, but she couldn’t bear to look away. It was silent and felt like the seconds were dragging into minutes and then hours. What was he thinking? It was so hard to tell.

“I leave it in Dazai’s hands.” He decided before spinning on heel, his haori swaying behind him like it was flowing in the wind.

Atsushi was stunned into silence when he reached his conclusion. What did that mean? It seemed Dazai could tell what she was thinking because he spoke up. “You passed!” He cheered, slipping into Atsushi’s space and throwing an arm over her shoulders, pulling her close so she was mushed into his side. Atsushi tried to ignore the proximity and focus on his next words. “Welcome to the Armed Detective Agency.” He gave her a smug smile. Atsushi immediately looked away from his dark eyes.

He knew this was going to happen. Atsushi frowned. He knew how this was going to play out, he planned the whole thing.

Atsushi opened her mouth to say something when something broke between them and separated Atsushi from Dazai. Green eyes narrowed at Dazai, burning holes into him, and the male lifted his hands in mock defense, grinning from ear to ear. Atsushi tilted her head when Kunikida stood in front of her, as if he was trying to hide her from Dazai.

“It’s so nice to meet you Atsushi-chan!”

“Naomi, you’re squishing me!”

Naomi Tanizaki—Gift: None

Junichirou Tanizaki—Gift: Light Snow

The female that Atsushi thought to be a hostage smiled and gave a giggle, wiggling her fingers in a wave, the ginger pinned beneath her weight and squirming to escape her grasp. The two were acting completely normal, nothing like they were before, terrified and menacing.

"Hello- Wait! What do you mean by 'welcome to the agency'?" Atsushi asked Dazai.

"Well, you're going to be working with us of course!" Dazai replied.

"What? I can't work in a dangerous place like this!" Atsushi nearly screeched. She knew what risky jobs the agency took; it was far too dangerous for Atsushi. She can't be dealing with jobs like that! The whole place was insane already!

"Oh?" Dazai muttered, tilting his head to the side and humming softly. "Well, I can't exactly force you to join." Atsushi felt herself calm down, shoulders dropping from their tense position. Sadly, Dazai spoke again. "But you will need to remove yourself from the dorms." Atsushi froze and Dazai shrugged. "You do owe us for the phone as well. Is that okay little lady?" Dazai spoke with a certain tone in his voice and Atsushi knew that he won.

She didn't really have a choice.

Atsushi dropped her head with a small whine, pouting when she realized the situation, she was in. Dazai knew exactly from the start and had no problem showing her how satisfied he was, he maneuvered around Kunikida and wrapped his arms around Atsushi. "We'll take good care of you Atsushi-kun, don't worry~!" He sang.

"Get off her you suicidal pervert!" Kunikida screeched almost instantly.
