Chapter Text
Thankfully, Reki didn’t have any more gay panic attacks for the rest of the school day. He and Langa had only shared that class as well as lunch together.
Walking home from his final class of the day, Reki finally had a chance to think. Unfortunately, he was not able to get his hoodie back from his long-haired friend, but he found that he really didn’t care. He figured that Langa could keep it as long as he wanted, besides, he looked cute in it.
He stopped in his tracks.
Cute.
Langa looked cute in his hoodie.
Goddamn it.
Reki groaned and covered his face as it began heating up. This is not happening. This is not fucking happening, god fucking damn it.
He took a deep breath as he began walking again. Maybe if he didn’t think about it anymore, he would stop crushing on Langa…
Too late, Langa occupied his thoughts once more.
He groaned again as he stopped and placed his skateboard down. He grumbled to himself before kicking at it. It rolled a few inches before he mounted it, grinning widely as the wind began to reintroduce itself to his hair.
This should take my mind off of him.
He hummed to himself as he maneuvered the board down the hill and towards his house. He was grateful that the shop was closed today, so he could attempt to catch up on his homework. He may be a delinquent, but that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t want to try and graduate.
His foot slams down on the concrete next to the board, effectively stopping his forward movement.
Holy shit graduation.
He completely forgot that his graduating ceremony was coming up in a month.
Wrapping his arms around himself in an effort to stop the panic that was rising inside of him, he inhaled once before exhaling.
A lot of things had happened in the past year. Meeting Langa, teaching Langa how to skate, all of the beefs he had participated in, Adam-
He felt his heart skip a couple of beats.
He had completely forgotten about Adam.
Sure, Adam had changed an insane amount, he’s apologized for all of the shit he had done, but Reki was still extremely wary. Who could blame him though? Adam had effectively managed to mentally traumatize him and make him feel as if all he was was dirt under his shoe. He managed to make him feel so broken inside that he abandoned his best friend.
Reki shook his head before bringing his hands up to clutch at his hair.
Okay, Kyan, that's enough. Just clear your mind, all of that shit is in the past.
He breathed deeply once more, allowing his fingers to let go of his hair and instead run through it, managing to calm himself down.
He lifts his head back up, his eyes widening as he noticed a few people were staring at him, worry clouding their facial expressions.
“Oi, I’m fine, look away please,” he huffs out, dropping his hands from his head. “Seriously, fuck off."
Ignoring an offended gasp he managed to gain himself from an old woman, he brought his foot back up and allowed himself to begin skating again.
___
As soon as he reached home, he dropped his skateboard off in its designated place beside the front door before walking inside the house. After sliding his shoes off, he made a quick detour to the kitchen before heading to his room.
“Oh Reki, I didn’t hear you come in!” his mother called out from the sitting room. “Is Langa still coming over this evening?”
Cursing softly, the redhead made his way over to the entrance of the sitting room before answering his mother. “Yes ma’am,” he replies, his arm propped against the wall. “He’ll be over later. I think he had to do something for his mom.”
“Alright,” his mother says, setting the book she had been reading down in her lap. “Do I need to make something for you two to eat or are you going skating?”
“Uhhh…I think we’ll grab something on the way to the skatepark. Thank you for the offer though,” Reki responds, smiling before dropping his arm.
“Alright then,” his mother smiles, nodding at him before reaching down and picking her book back up. “Be quiet when you head upstairs, your sisters are napping.”
“Noted,” he responds, backing away from the door frame and continuing his way towards his room.
Keeping his steps quiet as he walks up the stairs, he winces a bit when his foot comes across a squeaky step. Taking a deep breath, he steps over the squeaky step and settles his foot on the step after it. Thank god, moms not going to wring my neck this time.
Finishing his treacherous journey up the stairs, he hums softly to himself as he walks into his room. Kicking off his shoes, he flops on his bed and pulls out his phone to send Langa a text.
Me: yo, when do you think you’ll be over?
He placed his phone down on the bed before sitting up and grabbing the snack he had nabbed. As he tore open the plastic, his phone chimed.
Blueberry: I’ll be over soon. Mom wanted to take me shopping.
Me: ah shopping…for what exactly?
Blueberry: Clothes :/
Me: i thought you liked clothes shopping
Blueberry: I do, but it’s her shopping for herself and I’m just tagging along to carry the bags.
Reki snorts to himself as he takes a bite of his food.
Me: well that sucks. maybe she’ll get you something if your reeeeal nice to her
Blueberry: …Shut up, Reks. I’ll be over soon.
Me: yeah okay, whatever…you know you don’t have to text with proper punctuation right?
Blueberry: Go to hell.
Laughing once again, Reki puts his phone down before finishing up his snack. After balling up the wrapper, he throws the object into the trashcan before laying back down.
As his head hits the pillow, he smiles to himself as he closes his eyes. Maybe Langa would be wearing his hoodie when he comes over.
