Wow... Here we are again.
For the first time in Morix's history since the reboot, we're not ending a book on April 11th. Instead, this story is actually wrapping up a bit sooner than that since I kind of got hooked on this story and couldn't stop writing it. Whoops. I think that's a win more than anything, and I'm really happy with how this story turned out.
As usual, I would like to thank all of you for reading this far and helping the series to reach its current point. I appreciate each person who enjoys the story, and I hope that you're all having just as much fun with this as I am.
Next up, I want to thank the people who helped me to plan this story and the next step in the absolute monster that is the Morix series. Shoutout as usual to Hatty, Ace, Shiny, and Phoenix who helped me to craft this story to begin with. You can find character credits corresponding to all of them down below. This story would not be what it is today without all of them, and I don't think I can say enough just how much they all mean to me. Thank you to all four of you.
With that said, the standard business applies to this chapter as a profile compilation. DO NOT READ THIS CHAPTER UNTIL YOU HAVE FINISHED THE STORY. There are lots of spoilers found below, and even if it is a prequel, you shouldn't read the profiles until you're done with everything. With that said, this story being a prequel sort of makes the profiles weird. The ages and such are all done under the appropriate time frame of the story (two years prior to Quiet after the Hurricane, four years prior to present time). The characters who only appeared in the opening and ending will not have profiles here since their information is already in Web of Mistrust and the present-day segments are right on the heels of that story anyways. In other words, if the ages look smaller than you would have expected, that's because you're right.
Anyways, I think it's time for me to leave things off for this story and start looking to the future. Next week, we'll be starting the fifth book in the Morix saga. This next book is going to be a new one for the series. This is where the new timeline diverges from its initial incarnation quite starkly. Originally, the fifth book of the series followed a few new characters, but since that cast has since been relocated to the Investigations spin-off that will be happening eventually, the fifth book has been changed.
The lore of this series is complicated. That's the easiest way I can explain the change. The universe has existed for seven years now, and that means the lore has had a lot of time to flourish and expand into what it is now. With that said, it also means retreading ground that this incarnation of the universe has not seen, and we're going to be returning to old plot points at long last. What old points? That's my secret, but book five is going to be a good one.
As for my mention of an Investigations series, yes, that is happening... Eventually. I've been sitting on the idea for a long time, but I haven't had any bursts of inspiration to plan out the overall story for it. With that said, I'm also going to be doing a Morix incarnation of DGS that is (at least for now) called Morix Origins. This is a beta title and is subject to change, but I'll get there eventually as well. For now though, we're going to press on with the main series and pursue cases at least up through the fifth book. As for what comes after that... I suppose only time will tell.
Anyways, I'm sure you're wondering what this next book will be called, so the time has come for the big reveal. Book five of the Morix series, 'Chains of Justice Past', will be dropping next week on Thursday and continuing the regular update trend. I'm looking forward to it, and I know it's going to be incredible. I hope you'll all stick around for that. When his mother is murdered by Occisor, he turns to the early foundations of Oracle to try and bring the masked truth to light.

Following Natasha's murder, Chrysalis decides to establish the Oracle project out of righteous fury with the legal system's lack of justice.

Venus seeks the truth in the cases Cotoli takes on, leading to her becoming a core member of the Oracle group when the corruption becomes too much for her to stand back and watch.

Ghastly is a prosecutor within the local district and Cotoli's rival turned confidant. Ghastly finds himself arrested for Natasha's murder after his courtroom battles with Cotoli, and when the case exposes the cracks in the justice system, Ghastly joins his closest friends as a member of the Oracle project in the name of finding something new to believe in.

Toby is a homicide detective and the father of Mukuro. He is also close friends with Vera, and the two have been working together for quite some time given their occupations. Toby came to know Cotoli, Chrysalis, and Sora through the murder of May and the subsequent attempted murder of Tora and Jay. He works with the leading defense team to help them find the truth, though he ends up quietly jaded after the murder of Natasha and the correlated attack launched against his daughter.

Cassidy is the middle child of the three Rinko sisters and Ghastly's assistant in the courtroom. She remains at his side until the final case when he is arrested, and Cassidy works with Polly to prove his innocence. After Occisor's escape from justice, Cassidy becomes part of the core team of Oracle's operations to find justice for her sister's attempted murder.

Yuri is the youngest of the three Rinko sisters. Both Venus and Cassidy are fiercely protective of her with Venus even wanting to leave her out of their associations with the legal system due to her defensive nature. Despite this, Yuri assists in the investigation at the gymnastics competition, showing off the Rinko genetic skill of sensing when a person is lying along the way. She is nearly murdered in the attack on the factory, causing her to become permanently blinded in her right eye.

Ophani is the judge who presides over the cases found within the story. Much of her history is a mystery, but she wears the mask over her eyes to hide a horrific scar resulting from a past violent encounter. Ophani looks over her cases with care and caution, seeking to find the truth and justice above all else. In the final case regarding the murder of Natasha Morix, Ophani is left disappointed when the culprits escape, ordering members of the police to continue pursuing them until they are caught.

Fiora is an ice skater and a friend of Venus. The two were part of the same ice skating troupe up until Venus left after the events of the first case. Fiora is a witness in the murder of Aes, helping to find the truth behind her companion's death. She is a gentle soul, though she can be somewhat prone to anxiety, making it difficult for her to properly express herself. Fiora is lacking in confidence but makes up for it with her generosity, prompting her to contribute to the investigation in any way she can.

Aes was the victim of the murder at the skating rink and the victim of Pyth Tambin. She was known for her bitter attitude towards the world, holding a strong superiority complex that had her looking down on all those she viewed as being beneath her. Aes' talent could not be understated though, and she earned her leading position in the skating show because of her raw skill, but this wasn't enough to save her from Pyth's actions after she witnessed a hit and run by his hands a few months before her death.

Pyth was an ice skating assistant working on the same show as Venus, Fiora, and Aes. Months prior, he was involved with a hit and run incident, and he killed Aes because she was the sole witness to the murder. In years prior, he took on the name of Quenton Wills before abandoning it in favor of an identity others view as innocent. Pyth joined Occisor in the months building up to the GC-9 Incident, and he later became known as Ulysses Kyllar when he clashed with the agency again.

Sumia is a dancer working at Sweet Steps Studio and a friend of Cassidy. She acts as a teaching assistant for classes meant for younger children, and she is known for her kindness and gentle nature. Sumia found herself as a witness when Drake, her coworker, was murdered, though she knew nothing of his past prior to his death. She is still teaching at the studio years later, yearning to uphold the legacy of love that Drake left behind when he was killed by Fatanne.

Drake was a dance instructor at Sweet Steps Studio and the former assistant to Fatanne. He previously had a passion for psychology and wanted to learn more about the workings of the mind, but he could see Fatanne going too far when she resorted to human experimentation to reach her own ends. He left her behind and started to work as a dance teacher instead, taking some of Fatanne's research with him. This caught up with him when he was killed by Fatanne, but those who knew him still love his memory dearly.

Tatiana is the mother of Venus, Cassidy, and Yuri and the sole parental influence in their lives. Many years prior, she married a man by the name of Carson, though he went missing not long after Yuri was born, forcing her to raise her children alone. She adores her children above all else and would do anything for them. Tatiana's work leaves her struggling to spend much time with her daughters, but her three girls still admire her with everything they have for her kindness and generosity.

Fatanne was a morbidly curious psychologist and the murderer of Drake Sach. She wanted to learn about the intricacies of the human mind, prompting her to commit inhumane experimentation against her subjects. Drake left her employ behind while stealing and destroying much of her research. Fatanne caught up to him and killed him for it. She became part of Occisor months later, and her desire to learn more about the human mind prompted them to steal the virtual reality program found at the factory. Fatanne would later be known under the name of Tammy Ghunshotte when she next met the agency's members.

Sora is the younger sister of Cotoli and Pieter and the older sister of Chrysalis. She is a prosecutor with a cheerful demeanor, and she has an affinity for performing. Sora's mother, May, was murdered three years prior to the story, and the lack of justice caused her to pursue a legal profession to ensure that no other cases slipped through the cracks of the system.

She acts as the lead detective on the gymnastics competition murder and the death of a fellow detective as well as helping with the investigation in the attack on Sparx Factory. Following the story, she takes in a protege in the form of a young man named Aidan.

After the events of the story, he and Venus begin a blossoming romance, though they are far from public about their relationship.

Elton was a defense attorney who initially appeared as a witness in the gymnastics competition murder. He later murdered Mea Albrecht for getting too close to discovering the truth behind his evidence forging activities. Elton has a skewed sense of justice at best, and he hoped to employ Cotoli, Venus, and Chrysalis at his agency to make them his pawns. Years later, he came to be known as Colin Asasm.

Hanan was the victim in the gymnastics competition murder. She was targeted by Eris and Elton because she witnessed a back alley deal they committed months prior, and she recorded it on her phone. While the case was never resolved in court, Eris and Elton pursued her regardless, ultimately leading to her death in the midst of the competition so they could get their hands on her phone, the last piece of evidence that would have proven their guilt in the illegal forgery of evidence.

Eris was the killer of Hanan Lee and an accomplice of Elton. While the investigation was unresolved, Eris still pursued her and killed her in the heat of the competition. Previously, she had been known as Valerie Hoope, and years later, she would take up the name of Alexandra Murdayre.

Tora is a prosecutor working with the local district and the partner of Jay. When the two followed up on the investigation, they were attacked by Brennigan for trying to find the truth. After the case, Tora took in Sora as her protege.

After the case and his recovery from the attack, Jay took in Sora alongside Tora, helping as she began to pursue a career in the legal system.

May was Sora's mother and a famous performer. She was briefly with Carlton Starr, who became the father of her child after they parted ways. However, all went south when May accidentally witnessed an incident of evidence forgery, leading to her death at the hands of Brennigan. Sora saw the murder and firmly testified to Brennigan's guilt, but the case was left unsolved due to forged evidence.

Brennigan was a police officer and the killer of May Lin. Brennigan was arrested for the assault on Tora and Jay, but his accomplices managed to get away due to a lack of evidence. After he was caught, he went on to become part of Occisor, later going by the name of Masa Stabbin in his later encounters with the agency.

Valerie was a police officer and an associate of Brennigan and Quenton. Following the death of May Lin, Valerie assisted Brennigan with covering up the truth behind the case to allow him to go free. She and Quenton had been working with Brennigan for quite some time to keep the truth of their illegal evidence forging activities secret by the time of May's death. After the case of Tora and Jay's stabbing was solved, Valerie disappeared, later resurfacing under the name of Eris Rowland.

Quenton was a police officer working with Valerie and Brennigan. After Brennigan killed May, Quenton covered up the truth behind the culprit's identity, leading to a false not guilty verdict. He later assisted Brennigan in hiding the truth behind the attack on Tora and Jay, but his association lacked the necessary evidence to officially tie him to the crime. He got away from the consequences of his deeds, returning to the world years later going by the name of Pyth Tambin.

Hans is the chief prosecutor of the local district and the superior to Ghastly, Sora, and Polly. He stumbles upon the scene of Mea Albrecht's murder not long after her death, and he forges evidence in the area to pin the crime on Julia and Sebastian. He is arrested despite his efforts, leading to him turning to Cotoli out of the belief that he would fall for the forged evidence to get an easy not guilty verdict. Hans reveals the truth of his actions after he receives his ideal verdict, albeit not without earning the ire of Chrysalis and Cotolli. He is later removed from his position as one of Oracle's first exposure jobs for forged evidence.

Julia is an Interpol agent and an associate of Sebastian. The two have been working together ever since Julia joined Interpol, and they have a strong working relationship. After hearing of illegal evidence forgery deals, Julia goes to learn more with Sebastian at her side, and they find the body of Mea Albrecht along the way. They are framed for the case by Hans' actions, but they are proven to be innocent by Cotoli. After the case, they return to Interpol without finding full answers behind the forgeries.

Sebastian is an Interpol agent and a close coworker of Julia. He holds silent feelings for her, but he refuses to admit it regardless of how obvious others find it to be. Sebastian travels with Julia to the scene of the crime when Mea Albrecht is murdered. He is almost framed for the crime by Hans, but Cotoli proves otherwise when the case goes to the courtroom. Following the case, Sebastian returns to Interpol with Julia to continue conducting investigations into evidence forgeries.

Mea was a police detective investigating the forgery of evidence when she was killed by Elton. Following the death of Hanan because of her connections with evidence forging, Mea continued her own investigation to find the people behind it. In the end, this led to her death when the very forger she was trying to chase tracked her down and killed her. Because of her death, the truth of the evidence forgeries evaded public grasp for quite some time afterwards, allowing Occisor to form a few months later.

Polly is a prosecutor working in the local district and an old friend of Ghastly. The two met through their work and have been close ever since despite their contrasting personalities. It is this involvement with the factory case that leads to her becoming a member of the tightest circles of the Oracle project.

Pieter is a defense attorney and the brother of Cotoli, Sora, and Chrysalis. After his release, Pieter was taken in by Natasha, who cared for him like he was her own. Following her murder, Pieter looks after Chrysalis closely and becomes part of the Oracle project out of a desire to find justice for those Occisor had taken from him.

She acts as a witness throughout the rest of the case, though her testimony is still not enough to find true justice in the incident.

Anton is Polly's adoptive son and an old friend of Ghastly. He is a sweet and sensitive young man, often spending time with the people he cares for most and not moving beyond that bubble. Anton is rather sickly as well, always acting cautiously to keep himself safe. He goes to the factory alongside Polly on the day of the crime only to venture away from her in a rare burst of confidence. Anton is attacked along the way, but by some stroke of a miracle, the head injury is not enough to take his memories as Polly fears.

Natasha was Cotoli's mother and Pieter's newfound guardian. She was a kind and generous woman who looked after the two boys as well as Sora and Chrysalis, treating them all as her children regardless of blood relations. She took in Pieter after he was freed from Occisor's clutches, healing his wounds and giving him a home in light of his recent trauma. Natasha was killed by Occisor when she wound up at Sparx Factory when they were sneaking inside to steal the virtual reality program.
