Chapter Text
(TW: Blood towards the end of the chapter)
Sven and Mythro arrived at the station earlier than normal. Deaf wasn’t gonna be back for another day so they had no one to wait for. No one was there except a few police officers. It had been a tiring morning for them. They were still cleaning up from the day before, trying to get the public to calm down, telling the victims’ families of the death, etc. Mythro was pulling up names and cases from the database, he explained that the Creed was known for moving around and since it had been a few years, Mythro didn’t know where they would be.
“We shouldn’t try anything until Deaf is back.” Mythro said, Sven nodded. They would need as much backup as they could get. Mythro tapped his foot to the beat of a song Sven didn’t know that was playing on his phone.
“Y’know, this is the first song I learnt on guitar” Mythro said, smiling to himself. “You play instruments!?” “Multiple actually” Mythro said, smiling even more. It stayed like this for a while, small chat and comfortable silence. It was hard to imagine that just yesterday, they had been at the scene of two murders. About an hour later, people started to arrive, ignoring Mythro surprisingly.
After going through multiple felonies done by Creed members and ex-members, going through peoples’ criminal records who Mythro knew were members and finding old organization buildings, Mythro had a good idea of where the new base was.
If they didn’t have proof that the Creed killed people (which they did), they at least had proof of other things. Smuggling of Ender Pearls and potions, tax evasion, petty theft, arson and more.
“We’ve done everything we can do today, tomorrow we can go ask around about the base. Mush is waiting for some tests to come back from the lab, so we don’t have to worry about the body right now.” Hypothetically, Sven should be off that day but he was more worried about the Creed and the Plumpkin guy. Sven texted Deaf some of the information.
“What do you want to do? Sven asked after informing police officers about the new information. “We’re free the rest of the day, we should probably lay low now that the public knows you’re out though.” “I have no idea, I’m kinda just basking in the idea that Plumpkin will finally be gone within a few days.” Mythro said, laughing like a man who hadn’t just killed someone the day before and gotten away with it. Sven, while growing fond of the other, would never let that go. “Let’s not get our hopes up, considering what you’ve told me, we’re gonna need a lot of the force ready.” Mythro nodded in agreement.
“Actually, I know what I want to do. It’s pretty close from here actually. We can walk it.” Mythro said, getting up and grabbing his new coat and an umbrella. Sven noticed how his smile wavered. Sven walked with him. It took Sven a few minutes before understand where they were going.
It smelled like rain as they walked through the Prime Cemetery. Graves covered with flags, fake flowers and bouquets of roses seemed to mock Sven, reminding him of Mythro’s fate. He knew he kept getting comfortable with the murderer and then he turned around and did something horrible. The guy had more than 48 felonies yet Sven couldn’t help getting attached to him. They continued walking, Sven walked past a familiar grave. He knew it well, it was Chase’s. Sven hadn’t visited it in a while, with Mythro and the killings, he hadn’t had time to. The bouquet he had left, yellow roses, were still alive, thankfully. Mythro looked at him with knowing eyes before they kept going. They finally got to a newer area of the cemetery, an intricate headstone stood out, it had a wreath hanging from it and multiple bouquets, pictures and blown out candles. Sven realized he had missed Shiratori’s funeral.
“I-I didn’t even realize he had been buried yet,” Sven said, slow drops of water falling from the sky. “He was amazing, he deserved to live his whole life.” Mythro sat down in front of the grave, he stared at it. He played with the stop clock that was now hanging from his neck. “Plumpkin gave this to me, I absolutely adored it and I still do. Even after everything he’s done to me.”
Freezing rain started falling down, making the moment feel surreal. Sven stood over top of him, holding the umbrella so he wouldn’t get soaked. “I’m gonna get his watch back and bury it, I will get his watch back. Then, I’m going to kill Plumpkin and whoever else gets in my way” Mythro said, his hands gripping the dying grass for dear life. Sven didn’t completely know nor understand what Plumpkin did to Mythro but he could tell it was worse than he could imagine. It caused a normal 5 year old to grow up and become one of the most notorious killers ever. Sven stood over him for what seemed like hours, Mythro cried for about 3 minutes before stopping and staring at the grave again, he was deathly pale. They silently walked back to the station, drying off briefly before returning to Sven’s car.
“Did the body that couldn’t be identified come with a note?” Mythro asked quietly. “No.” “How many roses?” “3”
“And it was the fourth body?”
Mythro eyed him, It took Sven three second to realize what Mythro was referencing. Sven's job was literally to notice these little things, he mentally facepalmed himself. Sven drove to the apartment, Mythro seemed anxious. They walked up the 7 flights of stairs, Mythro seemed to be deep in thought. Sven had trouble catching up to Mythro’s fast pace, he didn’t seem to know that he was going so fast. Sven had to run to catch up with him, he watched as Mythro turned the corner to his apartment, trying to avoid thinking of the fact that Mythro had memorized where he lived.
He found Mythro, staring at something and the door completely wide open.
A severed hand with a yellowish-white sticky note, now splotched with crimson, held the fourth rose.
‘I’m coming for you’
