Chapter Text
“Uhhh…heh?” Alex stuttered, dumbfounded.
“Go out with me.” Henry repeated, a bit stronger.
“Let’s get out of here.”
“Just…us? Just the two of us?”
“Umm, yeah? I guess?” Henry said, slightly more anxious now.
“Oh.” He hesitated, thinking. “Where would we go?”
Henry’s face broke into an eager smile, thrilled at the absence of a straight-up ‘no’. “Follow me!”
What the actual fuck. Alex thought as he jogged to catch up. Meh. Beats “listening” to the World Politics lecture.
As Henry held the door open for him, Alex blinked rapidly as his eyes adjusted to the bright sun. Trying to get his bearings as he gazed across the parking lot, he inhaled sharply. Henry was leaning on the front of a white Ford Mustang, lazily messing up his fluffy blond hair.
*inhale* AHHHHHHH. Focus. FOCUS. Everything is fine. No reason to panic. He’s just an ordinary teenage boy. You’re fine. Stop being gay for no reason. Time to walk forward now? Holy shit he’s hot. Dude you need to move. Maybe he’ll let me play with his hair? WALK YOU STUPID FUCKING IDIOT.
Alex took a tentative step forward, crossing to slide in the passenger’s seat of the gorgeous sports car. As Henry hopped into the driver’s seat, he grinned at Alex, successfully making him laugh.
“Alright, I’m here. Will you tell me where we’re going now?”
“Nope.”
Alex let out a dramatic sigh, and Henry chuckled.
“Choose some music, cutie,” Henry said, passing him the AUX cord.
Alex blushed, muttering “m’kay” and accepting the cord. He scrolled through his playlists, trying to find one that might impress Henry, or at least match his music taste. After a few minutes of desperation and frustration, Alex gave up and just hit shuffle on his Liked Songs.
♪“Tonight I’m gonna have myself a real good time. I feel alive! And the world I’ll turn it inside out, yeah. I’m floating around in ecstasy!” ♪
Alex breathed a sigh of relief as he heard Henry quietly singing along. Holy shit he can sing. Suddenly confident, he cranked the volume to the max, the drums and wind blending together.
“I’M BURNING THROUGH THE SKY, YEAH. 600 DEGREES, THAT’S WHY THEY CALL ME MISTER FAHRENHEIT! I’M TRAVELLING AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT! I WANNA MAKE A SUPERSONIC WOMAN OF YOUUUUU!” Alex yelled.
Admiring his adorable energy, Henry let go, matching Alex’s volume in the back up vocals. “Don’t stop me, don’t stop me.”
“YES, I’M HAVING A GOOD TIME, I DON’T WANT TO STOP AT ALL!” Alex panted heavily as the song finished. Henry simply shook his head and smiled, still half-focused on the road. “What?” Alex asked.
“You’re just really cute.”
