As Kakashi walks over to Naruto, retrieving the bell and lecturing him, I swiftly hop over to Sasuke’s hiding spot among the trees. I whisper his name to get his attention and he glares at me “What do you want? I'm busy, and he might spot us.” He speaks hastily and annoyed, looking back at the two.
“Kakashi is obviously no match for us, if we all team up we might have a chance at actually beating him” He scoffs at the idea, still not looking at me.
“Maybe you three can’t, but I have a chance”
“Sure, maybe you can but.. if we team up it’ll increase our- your–” As I stumble on my words Sasuke tenses up and shifts, throwing his shuriken and kunai at Kakashi. My head shoots to the side as they seemingly hit him, but his “body” explodes into a puff of smoke before clearing to show a log with the weapons sticking out. Body replacement jutsu, a simple but efficient technique every shinobi should have in their arsenal.
Sasuke sprints across the nearest tree branches so as to not get caught by Kakashi and I quickly follow his lead for the same reason. After a bit of running away we reach a clearing with our backs to each other we scan our surroundings on the lookout for our sensei, when all of the sudden Sakura’s screams echo through the woods. “That was Sakura wasn’t it.” I said to Sasuke.
“Hn, yeah” He agrees with me before giving me a subtly questioning look.
“Ninja tactics know-how number two, Genjutsu. Sakura fell for it so easily.” Kakashi suddenly speaks up, sending my head towards the source of the noise.
“Genjutsu, eh? A type of hallucinatory mind-controlling technique. It’s no wonder she fell for it easily, but I'm different.” Sasuke retorts and I try not to give him a look but he still glares at me and I advert my gaze elsewhere.
“Why don’t you say that after getting a bell, Sasuke kun” Kakashi pushes off the tree he was leaning on with his book in hand. He walks up a few steps as Sauke turns around the face, the both of them stare off trying to work out the next move. I switch between looking at the both of them, unsure of what they’ll do next and what I should do as well.
Suddenly Sasuke hurls even more weapons at Kakashi, to which he evades. “There’s no use in just using normal attacks.” Sasuke says nothing, instead pulling out another kunai and aiming it at a rope tied between two trees, unleashing even more kunais directed at Kakashi. He dodges them just as easily, however Sasuke appears behind him to land a kick which Kakashi blocks and grabs his ankle. This doesn’t stop Sasuke from trying to punch him although Kakashi takes hold of his fist before he can, Sasuke twists his body upside down in an attempt to kick his head that Kakashi once again blocks.
However all Sasuke's futile attacks lead to him being able to use his last free hand to try and grab the bells attached to Kakashi’s waist, he quickly backs away to avoid Sasuke’s hand. While they were fighting, I returned to the tree line to hide among the leaves and think of a plan of attack, whether it involved my teammates or not.
“I’ll admit that you’re different from the rest.” Kakashi compliments Sasuke who hmph’s and starts forming a series of hand signs, performing Fire Release: Fireball Jutsu, shocking both me and Kakashi. Sasuke leaning back as he inhales a large breath to blow out a fireball at Kakashi, however when it finally disappears Kakashi is nowhere to be seen, Sasuke panics and starts to look around frantically trying to find where he went before kakashi finally speaks up. “Below you!”
All of the sudden Kakashi’s hand sprouts up from the ground “Earth Release: Double Suicide Decapitaion Jutsu” Sasuke’s screams fill up the around me as he gets dragged into the ground and Kakashi replaces his spot, my eyes widen and I can’t help but cover my mouth in shock. There was no way I could beat him alone but I’d have to try.
I began enacting a quick plan.
“This is the third ninja tactics know-how, Ninjutsu. How is it? Can’t move, right? Looks like your talents are exceptional… but.” Kakashi stands up from his crouched position talking down to Sasuke. “They say that stakes that point out get driven back into the ground. Now, where’s that other one that came with you? Y’know it’s a bit hypocritical of you to try and persuade him to team up with you just for you to abandon him!”
Kakashi mocks you, clearly trying to rile you up so you reveal yourself and if I didn’t think this would benefit my plan I’d like to think I wouldn’t listen to him but I go against my instincts and jump down from my hiding spot into the clearing.
“What are you doing?! You were right, we can't beat him alone, so run and find the others!” Sasuke tries to convince me to run away, I glance at him but don’t respond to him. Instead I position myself sideways and bring my right hand up, the back of my hand towards Kakashi.
“You’re right, it was cowardly to leave my friend and even though i’m clearly out classed, the best I can do right now as a Konoha Shinobi is to prevent you from getting any further”
“A Konoha Shinobi? You haven’t even attacked me yet to pass my test-” Before he can finish I throw the kunai I was hiding in my left hand; the reason I was hiding it is soon found out when it explodes as Kakashi deflects it. In the haze of smoke I quickly form the familiar hand signs of the clone jutsu used in the academy exam. I jump back into the trees and begin sprinting into place.
As the smoke clears and Kakashi swiftly analyzes the situation he calmly speaks up “If i'm so much better than you then why did you think a simple clone jutsu would work” He immediately makes do with the clone just as it acts to attack him. After the clone poofs into a cloud of smoke Kakashi stares me down from the bush I'm hiding in, making me sweat but I try to control my breath as he starts to walk straight for me.
He steps over the tripwire I set up between the two trees at the treeline a little in front of me. “That trick won’t work on me either” He chuckles.
“Maybe not that one” I finally speak up while cutting a wire connected to the tree next to me, constraining a log to swing at Kakashi. His eyes widen as the log impacts him but after a puff of smoke he transforms into one as well.
I try to quickly stand up, but before I can Kakashi appears behind me and lands a powerful kick on my back, sending me stumbling forward and out of the forest. I regain my balance and spin around, looking for him anywhere in the clearing.
“Hey! Watch it!” I hear Sasuke yelp from behind me and when I turn to see him glaring at me from almost stepping on him, my face turns blank when the realization dons on me.
“Earth Release: Double Suicide Decapitaion Jutsu!”
