Chapter 3: How Not to Take Care of Your Vessel - a Parasites Guide

Summary:

LBD really needs to get better at this possession stuff...

Chapter Text

"A parasite is nothing without a healthy host"

Is a annoying truth for The Lady. A few thousand years ago, she wouldn't have to worry about that advice. But since that damned horse protector obliterated her true body, she's been having to skip from person to person to get something of use done.

Food and bathing were fine, a luxury she enjoyed even. Especially since between she had been imprisoned and freed, those clever humans made "showers". But the one thing she despised was sleeping. Purely a waste of time I'm her opinion, no wonder those others were so weak. Sure, other yaoguai needed the stuff. But, as The Lady reasoned, she was derived of a skeleton. No need for all that.

With out proper care, her body would fail from under her. Being sluggish and sometimes her control over it would slip.

Soft clinking meant to be hidden echoed through the cavern she was in, signaling the arrival of the Spider "Queen" to The Lady's workspace, and snapping her out of thought. The suppressing feeling of being watched crept through her back.

"What it you want, My Queen."

A stifled breath sounded to her ears from behind as she whipped around.

"I- uh," The other yaoguai struggled to put in a strong front. "I want to know what you're up to, Little Miss Mystery. You've been sitting in her doing nothing the whole night."

To this The Lady let out a sinister chuckle. "Be patient my queen. Your part to play has not begun yet."

"Well it better soon, you know as well as I we need to strike as soon as possible." The queen retorted

"Of course, my queen."

Metallic steps no longer concealed traveled farther and farther from the room. The Lady focused back onto her work, and the furnace that lay in front of her. She knows what she needs, but how does she get them? A growling stomach is an [[ convenient copout? ]] annoying reminder of the needs of her vessel. A small box resting on the floor next to the wall left of her contains simple nutrients to keep her body in top condition. She picks up a simple granola bar and scarfs it down, not caring about the texture or flavor.

The Lady turned back and continued to ponder, yet as she stared into space thinking, her eyes drooped and body subconsciously yawned. Sharp thoughts screamed at her to not rest her vessel and keep working. Yet her stolen body had betrayed its commander as it collapsed onto the cold, stone floor.

My eyes slowly bat open, pupils adjusting to the dim light as a fish acclimates to water, slowly and with no fucking clue on what's going on. I sit up on aching joints and- wait a minute. I study my calloused yet pristine hands to make sure I wasn't dreaming.

Adrenaline rushes throughout as I race out of the stuffy cave and into the labyrinth of a lair.
