Chapter Text

“Yuki? Are you in here?” Pierre’s voice could be heard throughout the whole apartment, but Yuki refused to move. Sitting on the bottom of the closet he whipped away the tears that didn’t seem to end trying to remain as silent as possible. The whole day was ruined, his new expensive clothes now looked dirty and wrinkly, his hair was a mess from his hands constantly touching it and he didn’t even want to think about what the people who saw him ran away were thinking.

It was all too good to be true. He knew that, they knew it, yet he fell for it. Pierre was not someone he ever thought would be his soulmate - yes, he found the Frenchman attractive and at times dreamt of going on dates together or getting to kiss him. But Yuki always knew the other saw him as a colleague, friend would be to big of a word to use for their relationship.

He was fine with all of that, he was working on moving on and maybe finding someone else, someone who truly loved him. And then the most unexpected thing happened. He found out Pierre, his Pierre was his soulmate there was no need for someone else. So Yuki fell in hard.

The noise in the apartment only got louder, Pierre sounded even more frustrated calling out his name, Yuki hugged himself even tighter waiting for the moment the doors would open and he came face to face with him.

They went from seeing each other only on tracks to spending months in France in Pierre’s apartment, hidden away from the world. Their relationship was going slow, Pierre had said it was better if they took things slow as to not regret thing later on. A few kisses here and there that turned into make out sessions, hand holding that turned to some light touching, but nothing more than that. He was fine with that, after all they had the rest of their lives together and being able to wake up next to each other was all he needed.

But a part of him always knew it wasn’t the only reason, that Pierre wasn’t really holding back because he was savoring the moment but rather waiting for a good time to end it.

A sudden noise broke the silence, this time so much closer to him. He was hidden in the spare bedroom turned gym, he heard Pierre open the bedroom door, call for him and check behind the bench, but soon enough he was gone. That was 30 minutes ago and since then Yuki had heard him comb over each individual room without finding him, and Pierre was too smart not to put two and two together.

Yuki let out a deep breath just seconds before the door opened.

“Yuki?” he could hear the exhaustion in Pierre’s voice, his name barely a whisper, “Please come out.”

Pierre took a step into the room but didn’t come any closer, “Please, I can explain everything I promise.”

If anyone was hurt here it would be Pierre as he had ruined such a nice party. Everything was going great, he’d managed to push aside the feeling of dread and fear that his relationship was falling apart and enjoy the nice gathering with Pierre’s friends at the restaurant downstairs. He had been walking around looking for Pierre, finally managing to ditch a bunch of annoying rich kids when his eyes fell on his boyfriend.

Pierre was surrounded by his friends, people he knew and had known for as long as they were together. They were drinking and laughing at something one of them said, he didn’t get the French humor so most of the time he smiled politely. But then a women walked past him, almost pushing him away but he managed to hold onto a table and walked straight to Pierre. She’s practically jumped into his arms knocking over his drink, screaming about something.

The whole group started laughing, a friend of theirs Yuki though, maybe he should go and introduce himself she probably didn’t know him. Pierre gave her a quick squeeze before breaking the hug, and Yuki’s jealous little heart danced joy a little too soon.

Without missing a beat Pierre leaned in and placed a kiss on her cheek, and then the other, the last and third one on the lips. Yuki saw Pierre push her away, one of his friends even took her arm and all laughter died down, but it was too late he had already confirmed what he knew all along.

His legs carried him on his own, he turned around and headed straight for the exit. Tears were already falling down his cheeks, his hands shaking while chest was tightening by the second. In a stupid split second decision he turned around, Pierre was looking at him with regret, so were the rest of his friends and the second their eyes met the Frenchman started running after him, Yuki barely escaping down the hall to the elevator.

He opened his eyes, Pierre’s shadow was now moving across the room to him, the light went a little dim before the doors were open and he was freed from the confined space.

“Baby…” Pierre

“Don’t call me that.” Yuki spoke up, refusing to look him in the eyes.

“I’m sorry-”

“Go back to your friends.” His voice carried enough venom to make Pierre wince, he couldn’t help but be proud of it.

Pierre knelt down next to him, “Please let me explain, It’s not what you think I promise.”

“I know. It’s too late I know.”

“Yuki please look at me.” Pierre sat down next to him, reaching his hand out. Yuki didn’t stop him but also didn’t move letting his hand hang in the air before Pierre realized he wasn’t taking it.

“She’s an old friend, haven’t seen her in a while and she didn’t know about us.” Pierre’s voice was stead and slow but Yuki could hear the emotions in it, “The kiss thing was something we used to do when we were both single, when people would tease us about it. She would’ve never kissed me if she knew, never.” He ran his hand though his hair, while Yuki kept looking in front of him.

“And I know I made it even worse but I promise it’s not like that.”

Yuki couldn’t help but feel a little stupid, even if Pierre was telling the truth his feelings were still the same – the only thing left to do it confront him. He raised his head and looked at Pierre, his eyes were red, his hair messy just like his and he was missing his jacket, but he pushed though the urge to hug him. Pierre seemed taken back but didn’t say anything.

“What are we?” The questions hanged in the air for a few moment neither moving a muscle.

“Soulmates, you’re my boyfriend-” Pierre answers but Yuki cuts him off.

“Do you want me to be? Or are with me cause that’s what people say you need to do.” He finally asked, his heart beating violently in his chest but he had done it.

Pierre blinked at him, his lips forming into a frown, “What- what you mean? Of course I do.”

“Pierre-”

“Yuki I love you.” Pierre took his hand in his, holding him like he was the most precious thing in the world. His mouth fell open he didn’t know what to say as Pierre continued, “I liked you before we found out we’ve meant to be, you were so cute and funny, just didn’t think it was possible. I was so happy when I got the mark I don’t think I can describe it.”

For the second time that day tears were forming in their eyes, Yuki didn’t think more, he threw his arms around Pierre and fell into his embrace. They held each other for a moment, trying to calm down.

“I love you too.” Yuki whispered, looking up and kissing Pierre hard.

“Please never forget that.” Pierre said back making him laugh, before leaning down and placing a kiss on his head, “Do you forgive me?”

“Yes.” Yuki replied, smiling hard and probably blushing from their confessions.

Pierre hugged him tighter, “Can I kiss you?”

“You just did…” he looked up with a confused expression.

Pierre had one eyebrow raised, softly saying “In public too?”

His face went even more red, “Ehh.. maybe we get married first?”

“Yuki!”
