The Grass isn't always Greener

Chapter 2

Notes:

Couldn't sleep, decided to properly give a short follow up chapter to this.

Chapter Text

It had been several days since Charles Calvin had betrayed the Government and many soldiers on base found themselves with questions on basically everything that had happened.

So General Galeforce decided to hold a simple assembly for his troops, wanting to clarify on the events that happened and to properly show off Charlie to the base.

---

The soldiers found themselves standing in a group near a makeshift podium, Rupert Price standing near the front with his arm in a fresh sling from his gunshot wound he had.

Rupert mindlessly scrolled on his phone the best he could, trying to ignore the noises and mumblings of the troops.

"Attention!"

Rupert and the other soldiers quickly got quiet, standing straight as Galeforce stepped on to the podium, with Dr V, Green and Charlie standing behind him.

Galeforce cleared his throat before he started speaking. "You all may be wondering what exactly happened a few days, so this presentation today will be to explain that, and more.

Our once top pilot, Charles Calvin, decided to betray us all, attempting to harm or potentially kill us and stealing important documents that were very much vital for all our safety.

While we may never know what drove Charles to essentially side with the Toppats, I can confirm that his betrayal was short lived and that Charles Calvin is no longer a threat to our operations or our lives."

Galeforce motioned for Charlie to step forward, letting the new cyborg give a short introduction.

"My name is Charlie, Specialized Toppat Killer for the Government. Alongside my older brother, we hope to kill every last Toppat in the name of the Government. I look forward to getting to know you all."

The soldiers found themselves murmuring with new questions and worries as Charlie stepped back into place, letting the General resume his speech.

"Let this be an example on why you shouldn't side with the enemy. The Toppats are relentless monsters who don't deserve our pity or help, and our safety, alongside the safety of every civilian around the world, should be your top priority.

If anyone wants to pull a Calvin and try to be a hero to those criminals, just know that you will be seen as a dangerous traitor to us, and as such for the safety of the Government, will be killed on sight."

An eerie silence filled the base, with Rupert not liking the look Galeforce was giving everyone.

"But I don't have to worry about any of you fine soldiers betraying our cause. After all, you all are smart and understand what we do is for the safety of everyone.

And with that being said, remember that Charlie, alongside Green, are your fellow soldiers now and should be treated the same like everyone else. We don't want any trouble to happen just because these fine gentlemen are cyborgs now."

Galeforce gave his troops a wide smile as he finished his speech.

"You are all dismissed. Go about your regular schedule and hopefully we don't have any more... incidents."

The soldiers found themselves scattering about, with Rupert about to do the same before Galeforce flagged him down.

"Mr Price, I have a small request for you."

Rupert was not liking where this was going already.

"With Charles no longer able to carry out his duties of watching over Green, we need someone to be a new friend to not only Green, but Charlie as well."

Rupert already could tell where this was probably going. "So you want me to be their new Government assigned babysitter?"

Galeforce gave Rupert a pat on the shoulder. "Don't think about it as babysitting, they are adults here after all. Just think of it as a new friendship opportunity for you!"

Rupert looked over to where Green and Charlie was, with Green pointing at something as the two talked. While what happened to Charles was beyond terrible, not being murdered was a far better looking option for the former police officer.

"Alright, since I probably didn't have much of a choice on this anyways. I'll be their new friend and keep an eye on them."

Galeforce just smiled, shooting Rupert a briefly terrifying face before responding. "Good choice, Mr Price. I am sure you'll get along great with Green and Charlie."

Rupert let out a sigh as Galeforce called Charlie and Green over. Sure this whole situation sucked, but Rupert saw first hand what happens to those that try to play hero against the Government.

And Rupert preferred to not have a repeat performance of those events happen anytime soon.

Notes:

Obviously this is non canon eight ways to Sundays, but who doesn't love a bad ending (unless you support off his shits Galeforce)
