Chapter Text
Their room was accented with blues and golds, and Rose immediately fell in love with it. She held the Doctor's hand, refusing to let go, as they took their first steps into this new space together. The Doctor watched with a smile as Rose took it all in, from the pale grey walls to the giant bed in the middle decked out in royal blue and ivory. Light gold pillows matched the gold motifs on the dark drapes, and were complemented by the sandy toned wooden furniture. It was their colours. An absolutely perfect place for their new beginning together.
Rose couldn't believe how many things reminded her of her - no, their - old room. The bookshelf in the corner was stacked to bursting with some of the Doctor's favourite books. She still had a vanity, with all of her make-up already thoughtfully placed on the new surface. A box contained the Doctor's usual mess of knick-knacks, for now. She laughed when she turned around and saw the coat rack had been replaced with beautiful hooks on the wall. There was even a chair near the bed, this one in shades of blue, that reminded her painfully of her first Doctor.
The Doctor was waiting quietly for her to take it all in, bouncing on the balls of his feet while he awaited her verdict. She turned towards him, her eyes filled with what he hoped was happy tears.
"It's okay then?" His smirk was confident, but he knew Rose would see the uncertainty in his eyes.
"Oh Doctor, it's perfect."
He whooped as he swept her up in a celebratory hug. He twirled her around before depositing her, laughing, onto their new bed.
"In that case," he said, leaning down to give her a soft kiss, "Welcome home, Rose Tyler."
