Today should have been a good day. Well, not entirely good, Most of Reina’s activities are repetitive. Woke up, shower, breakfast, learn some stuff, lunch, play with her brother, dinner, and go to sleep.
But those days will be seen as the best days when compared to today. He and Reinhard should have been woken up by their mother. Subaru had actually woken up because he was used to it, but he was pretending to be asleep, that was because he was still pretending to be a child.
But today was different.Subaru who pretended to be asleep waited a long time to be woken up, he decided to wake up himself.
It was still relatively early in the morning, and Reinhard was still asleep, but when he came out of their room, the mansion was already alive, which was natural because the mansion was staffed by several workers. Subaru had never left the room at this hour, he was always woken up by his mother, so this sight seemed new to him.
"Ah, Reina-sama what are you doing this early in the morning?" That voice came from behind Reina, the owner of that voice was none other than Carol Remendis, she is the head maid of the Astrea Mansion, and has served the Astrea Family for generations.
"Oh, Carol-san, good morning." Subaru was slightly surprised that Carol had appeared out of nowhere. Subaru studied the look on Carol's face, she looked sweaty and her voice was a little breathless, probably because of the sheer amount of work she had to do to prepare the mansion.
"Yeah, I'm getting used to waking up at this hour because of mom, where is mom by the way? She should be the one waking me up now"
Subaru asked a genuine question, as this is very rare, Louanna is a great mother, she is very proud of her two children who are arguably geniuses, and she works hard to teach them.
Carol's breath caught when she heard Reina's question.
'Something's not right'
"It's... uhh.. Reina-sama and Reinhard-sama will see for themselves.”
“Is Reinhard-sama awake yet?,, there is an important matter that requires both of you"
'Something's definitely not right'
"I believe Reinhard-niisan is still asleep, I can wake him up, where do you need the two of us?"
"In your parents' bedroom, please hurry they need you two"
With that Carol excused herself and walked quickly towards the mansion's main door.
"As if Mr. Fate couldn't be more obvious"
Subaru quickly returned to his room and walked over to Reinhard's bed
"Nii-san wake up, something happened"
Subaru shook Reinhard's body to wake him up.
"Ah... Reina, what happened?"
Reinhardt slowly opened his eyes, and clearly still looked sleepy.
"I don't know but your feelings last night seemed right."
"Oh no, then what should we do?"
"Carol-san said we are needed in our parents' room"
Subaru noticed that Reinhard didn't look sleepy at all compared to a few seconds ago.
"We should hurry then."
Subaru nodded and started walking briskly with Reinhard to their parents' room, Astrea's Mansion was huge and Subaru barely knew the Mansion's layout.
It took a moment, but they found themselves staring at their parents' bedroom door. Subaru could hear the sound of crying from behind the door. Subaru expected Reinhard to knock on the door, but Reinhard looked very nervous and scared, and he decided to knock on the door himself.
Knock Knock Knock
"OH, FOR OD SAKES, CANT YOU JUST LEAVE ME ALONE."
Even though the voice was muffled, it was clear that Heinkel was shouting, and startled Subaru and Reinhardt, especially Reinhard who was on the verge of crying.
"It's us dad, what's wrong?"
Subaru responded weakly, and waited for Heinkel's response.
Slowly the bedroom door opened and Heinkel emerged from the room, clearly a tear mark on his face.
Heinkel observed his two children, Reina who looked worried and Reinhard who was on the verge of crying, made him feel even more guilty.
"I'm so sorry, it's just... I'm not in a good condition, I also thought you two were the maids I dismissed earlier."
"It's okay dad, we're just a little shocked"
Subaru responded, completely ignoring Reinhardt's condition.
"So what happened dad?"
Hearing that Heinkel took a deep breath and exhaled, trying to calm himself.
"Your mother, she...she can't wake up I've tried several ways but she's not responding"
''i guess that's how you tell your children that their mother is dead'
"So is mother de-"
"NO. your mother is still alive, she will definitely wake up"
Subaru's response was immediately cut off by Heinkel, this time he didn't scream but his voice was still loud, and startled Reina and Reinhardt again.
"It's just... come in here and see for yourself"
Heinkel ushered the two of them in, and let them see their mother's condition. Heinkel picked them both up and placed them beside Louanna.
"Mother, what's wrong? why don't you wake up?"
Reinhardt shook his mother many times, trying to wake her up, but his efforts were in vain, and with that the floodgates opened. Subaru who saw that felt sad and had tears in his eyes, but it didn't make him cry like Reinhard did.
"Your mother will surely wake up, I will do my best to make sure of that."
