Welcome to Acearowolves’ Big Bang & Micro Bang!

For those unfamiliar with the concept, a Big or Micro Bang is a challenge where writers, betas and artists collaborate to write a fic with accompanying art. The length of the fic and number of artworks required vary depending on the nature of the bang!

For both of these bangs, the main requirement is that the main character, or one or more of the main character(s) of the fic is on the aromantic and/or asexual spectrum. Everything else is left up to you, as long as you respect the rules!

Please read the rules before signing up, and though the schedule isn’t tight, make sure you can work with it!

Q: What is a Big Bang?
A: Authors sign up to write a fic that’s at least 5,000 words. Artists sign up and make two (2) art pieces based on the fics.

Q: What is a Micro Bang?
A: Authors sign up to write a fic that’s at least 1,000 words. Artists sign up and make one (1) art piece based on the fics.

Q:How do I sign up?

Q: Can I sign up for both the Big Bang and the Micro Bang?
A: Yes! Keep in mind that authors will need to produce two separate fics that deal with different subjects. A two chapter fic is fine, but can’t work for both the Big Bang and the Micro Bang.

Q: Do I have to have a Tumblr or AO3 account?
A: A tumblr account is not required. Authors who sign up for the big bang must have an AO3 account. All other participants (including authors who sign up for the microbang) are not required to have an AO3. All we need from you is an email so we can keep in contact with you throughout the event.

Q: Do the characters have to be aroace?
A: While the main character featured in your story/art must be on the asexual spectrum and/or the aromantic spectrum, not all characters have to be aroace-spec. Additionally, any identities on the spectrum are acceptable, including (but not limited to) aro, ace, demi, quoi, gray, etc.

Q: Does the story have to be about the fact that they’re aro/ace-spec?
A: Nope! They just have to be on the spectrum. How much this comes up in the story is up to you!

Q: Do I have to be aro and/or ace to participate?
A: Nope! Anyone is welcome to participate.

Q: Are fusion/crossover fics allowed?
A: Yes, absolutely—as long as the main characters are from Teen Wolf.

Q: I signed up for the Micro Bang but I want to switch to the Big Bang (or vice versa)
A: No problem—just let us know by September 30.

Q: I signed up to participate but for whatever reason, I won’t be able to complete the fanwork I signed up for :(
A: That’s okay! But please let us know as soon as you realize that you won’t be able to finish. The sooner we know, the better!

General Requirements

-Underage participants cannot submit or claim E-rated work.
-Extreme age differences are not allowed. Ships should be underage/underage or only include people over 18. For example, if you want to create a Steter fanwork, Stiles must be aged up over 18, or Peter must be aged down under 18.
-Incest and non-con works are not allowed. While we understand that some survivors create works like this to cope, there are also survivors who would be triggered by such works. With that in mind, we want to make this exchange a safe collection of works for as many people as possible, and have decided not to allow such works.
-Explicit and kinky works are allowed. However, the rating must be indicated and all kinks must be tagged. (I.e. bdsm, breath play, cunnilingus, blow jobs, etc)
-Various -phobias and -isms are allowed, but must be tagged. (i.e. homophobia, arophobia, sexism etc)
-We encourage you to avoid going into the aroace discourse with this event and to use this event as a means of celebration of asexuality and aromanticism with your favorite characters.
-On the sign up forms, it will ask if you’ve read the rules. The password is “double check.“

Author requirements

-For the Big Bang, the fic must be at least 5,000 words.
-For the Micro Bang, the fic must be at least 1,000 words.
-It cannot be part of a pre-existing series or story. Stories you’ve already started writing are okay as long as you have not posted them anywhere.
-It must be complete and able to stand alone. You can write a sequel later if you choose, but it shouldn’t be required in order for the story to be complete.
-The fic must be beta’d. If you don’t have someone available to beta for you, let us know, and we’ll find you one.
-The main character of the fic must be on the aromantic and/or asexual spectrum.

Artist requirements

-For the Big Bang, two (2) pieces of art are required.
-For the Micro Bang, one (1) piece of art is required.
-All art should be accompanied by a short description.
-All art must be BASED ON a fic from the bang; it can’t just be a canon scene from the show.
-It is okay to draw explicit art, given that whatever you’re drawing is present in the fic–ie, if the fic has fade-to-black sex scenes, the art you draw should not be a sex scene.
-Art can fall under several different categories (listed below)
-It is acceptable to mix art styles for the big bang - for example, you could do one piece of fanart and a gifset, or two other different art types. It’s also acceptable to do two pieces of of the same type of art.
Fanart

-Must be at least 540px wide.
-Should be something that is considered finished; more than just a sketch, for example.
Gifset

-Must have at least 8 gifs per gifset.
-Must be made by you; you cannot resize, color, combine, or add text to someone else’s gifs.
Edit/Graphic

-Must be edited in some way (i.e. coloring, a new background, texture, etc).
-Must be at least 540px wide.
Fanmix

-Must have at least 8 songs
-Must have some sort of front cover. The covers don’t have to be super edited - something like this or this would be fine.
Picspam

-Must include at least 8 images.
-Must be at least 540px wide.
-The images must be edited in some way, at least to look cohesive. This can include coloring, new backgrounds, texture, etc.
Fanvids

-For the micro bang, fanvids should be between 45 seconds and one minute.
-For the big bang, it’s acceptable to submit two videos - each of 45s to 1m in length - or to submit one longer video that is at least 1m30s to 2m. It is also acceptable to do one shorter video and another art type, as listed on this page.
-Do not just take a scene from the show and cover it with music or put captions on that relate to the fic. You must make a new video.
