Darius gets a day off and decides to hang out with Eda for the afternoon, where Eda taunts him for going soft after he adopted Hunter, an accusation Darius finds, frankly, ridiculous. He hasn’t gone soft, he’s just doing a good deed because Hunter needed someone to take him in. Eda, of course, doesn’t buy it, as the man is clearly in the worst denial she’s ever seen. And to be fair, he was.

Summary
It starts, like most good things in Hunter’s life, with a profound sense of guilt, and like the catalyst of half of said good things in his life, with a stitch sewed with such uneven hands that not even Flapjack would be able to convince him that he did a good job.
He made a mistake. Or a million. But so what? He can start over. It’s not like he can do anything else at this point, and the thought of giving up and just lying down on the floor waiting until Mrs. Noceda grows tired of taking care of them and they have to figure it all out on their own to take action feels disrespectful somehow.
