Intro:
The fundamental forces elemental setting is an urban fantasy setting, set in a world like our own, although some stories take place in the near-future, and some in the past.
It's kind of a fantasy kitchen sink setting, with hundreds of different kinds of supernatural beings living in secret among humans. Each falls into one of three categories - biological creatures with magic (such as humans, elves, moonlighters, etc), half-magical beings (such as magophages, strigoi viu, etc) and purely magical beings (such as vampires, ghosts, etc). This categorization is based on how much of their basic biological functions is dependent on magic.
Magical abilities fall into two categories. Metamagical abilities affect only magical targets, such as half-magical and fully magical beings, or magical spells and effects such as threshold barriers. For example, magophages' ability to drain magic is a metamagical ability.
Magic that affects the physical world is elemental magic. Creatures capable of elemental magic each affect one of the fundamental forces in physics - electromagnetic, gravity, strong nuclear force and weak nuclear force. For example, vampires are electromagnetic creatures, using the electromagnetic force to create the illusion of a solid physical form.
