A pause, an assessing gaze, scanning over Jon in a way that felt awfully protective.
“...I’m just glad it seemed to help you, too. Sometimes it makes things worse, too, but…well, had to try.”He bit back the rush of emotion at that, the unnameable wave of feeling that came in and swallowed his every sense - fleeting and transient enough that, by the time it’d come, it was already gone. It was just an imprint, an echo, and he’d never know the voice of the thing that made it. He just knew that, through it, the mental image of Martin alone and shivering, with a blanket draped around him, was not a pleasant one.
…He was getting very tired of not knowing what the hell was going on, actually. Of not having context. Certainty.
It was all well and good to have some sort of connection to Martin, but…
Well. He simply didn’t like not knowing. Not understanding what was happening to him. Because of him. There were so many moving factors, and he hardly had a grasp on a single one of them, and it all felt so important - because in the end, it boiled down the the man sitting across from him, with a soft, tattered sort of look in his eye, barely hidden. It all came back to him, and that gravity was inescapable.Series
