Summary
This is so much bigger than him, Koby realizes, like a bucket of ice water pouring over him. Five minutes ago he saw Luffy get unceremoniously executed by Blackbeard. He didn’t even get a chance to help. And now he’s years back in time, with a laundry list of very vague instructions about what not to do if he wants to prevent that, given to him by a ninja version of himself that kissed him on the mouth.

“Fuck,” he says emphatically. “It's Koby?”
“How do you know Koby?” the blond boy demands. Shanks ignores him, just like he ignores Garp and Bogard straightening in alarm at the same realization. He steps past them both, crossing just the few paces to crouch next to the small bed.
“Hello again,” he murmurs. “Do you remember me?”
Koby doesn't answer. Koby doesn't even blink.
One year after Marineford, Vice Admiral Garp calls Red Haired Shanks to ask for a favor.

“The execution isn’t about Whitebeard,” Koby blurts out before he can talk himself out of it.
He resists the urge to squeeze his eyes shut, but all he gets for his efforts is a neatly raised eyebrow. Not that the skepticism in Helmeppo’s expression is entirely unwarranted – all anyone around them has talked about in the past week has been A War With Whitebeard – but it still makes him squirm. It’s still technically a secret, and he still hasn’t technically told, so he can bite his tongue now and try to fall asleep. But they’re going to fight a war in the morning, and no matter how it ends, Koby doubts that by the time the dust settles this will still matter.
Koby wants it to matter.
“Portgas D. Ace,” Koby forces himself to say, his heart in his throat and someone else’s secret bitter on his tongue, “is Gold Roger’s son.”

Summary
It’s been four years since Koby’s joined the Marines, and two years since one of the greatest power struggles in the world took place between pirates and the government. More importantly, two years since Straw-Hat Luffy became the Pirate King.
Personally, life’s been great for Koby ever since he joined. He’s climbed the ranks at record speed, ultimately obtaining the rank of a Rear-Admiral. His life-long dream of being Fleet Admiral is in sight, and it seems that everything is finally working out for him.
Until a certain pirate that Koby happens to have a major crush on comes flying into his window and asks to kidnap him. Trust a pirate to show up out of the blue and successfully ruin Koby’s life for the better. Again.In which Koby has to join the Straw-Hat pirates in order to bring down a child trafficking ring, all while being hopelessly in love with a pirate. The typical stuff, really.

“I just think—you shouldn’t underestimate an Admiral. Maybe you can beat him, but putting yourself at a disadvantage on purpose is just—” Coby pinches the bridge of his nose, pushing his glasses up onto his forehead with his free hand.
Luffy groans impatiently, “I’m not at a disadvantage. Not really. What’s the issue?”
When Coby uncovers his face, he finds Luffy watching him with a mix of curiosity and concern. He glows with the promise of youth, of a new age, and even now seeing him as anything except invincible is hard. But Coby lived to see the strongest man in the world fall. He lived to see one of the most important men in Luffy’s life ripped away. He lived to see Garp, broken and weeping.
As they face each other, on opposite sides of a cage door, Coby realizes that this may be the last time that they can speak like this.

Luffy gets caught by Coby's crew on purpose, and Coby admits feelings he thought he'd keep hidden forever.
