The main reason of letting Homare go melee when the option is available is, our beloved poet has a very rarely-explored side in writing: his adventurous, outgoing, thrill-seeking side. This is a huge part of his character, as he needs inspiration to write all those poems. As Homare has said in Moment of Winter magazine, inspiration is the most important thing in poetry.
So in this collection, you will find this side explored in the fics more often than not. The other reason of letting Homare go melee is to highlight an underrated aspect of his character: his physical ability. The notion of Homare being physically weak is notoriously set up by his Hotel Compass R, which is really just one of Homare fumblings; it is people never living it down that unfortunately causes this notion.
