Summary
Peter Parker has been Spider-Man long enough to know that not every battle has a happy ending.
He’s been through enough to know that innocent bystanders became victims. That people woke up that morning to get ready for work and drop their kids off at school and kiss their spouses goodbye walked out of their homes and never returned home.
That, despite their best efforts, sometimes even the Avengers couldn’t magically fix things. There was no solution that fit everything, and even sometimes Earth’s mightiest heroes get there too late, or there’s not enough of them, and people don’t make it.
It was part of the job.
He was never going to be able to save everyone. There were going to be times when the mission was unsuccessful. Despite his best efforts, there were still casualties.
It just never got easier.

“You know,” he begins, his feet padding across the hardwood floors, turning on the kettle. “Out of all the years I’ve been Spider-Man, I’ve never done the one thing I’ve always thought would be so cool to do.”
“Oh yeah?” MJ asks, tucking her feet underneath her. “And what’s that?”
The tea kettle murmurs to life as Peter grabs two mugs from the cabinet, glancing over at her. “I’ve never kissed someone upside down in the rain while I’m Spider-Man.”

Summary
Peter Parker knew this was a terrible idea.
Standing in the lab at Avengers Tower, there’s a sinking feeling in his stomach, a reminder that what he’s doing is wrong.
There’s better ways to go about this, he knows. He’s been told a million times that messing with the timeline could cause a reaction that no one is prepared for.
But he was 17 when he made an impulse decision, and in the grand scheme of things, no one knows who he is, anyway. By the time they find out he’ll have thought of a way for them to forgive him, and really, isn’t that enough?
Stepping toward the machine, Peter takes a breath. He spots a notebook to the side, scribbles out an apology note for whatever Avenger stumbles on it to find later, and leaves it on the table.
Giving himself a minute to sort himself out, Peter’s fingers move with ease as he sets up the machine, transporting back to eight months ago, determined to make things right.
