Drew is a barista at Kishi's and has found himself falling in love with the ridiculous Harrison, who seems to make it a point to come in during his shifts.
Cal is one of the most popular column writers at Sidlesmith, and has started to become enamored with the mysterious person who runs the most popular fan account for him on Twitter.
Here's the problem: Neither of them realizes they know each other. Will they ever realize? Or are they doomed to dance around each other forever?

He glances back up to her. The way he looks at her is leagues apart from the way that Ellie looks at her. “If that works for you, that is.” Owen is looking at her with what almost seems like admiration. It’s this kind, committed, hopeful look that feels like a goddamn spotlight.
Meeting Ellie’s eyes feels like a challenge, not in that it’s hard, but in that it feels like she’s egging you on to something. Like she’s looking for something, not at someone. It makes Joan want to say or do something to impress her. Makes her want to want to light a spark behind that endearing and calculating calm.
“Friday after school every week works perfect,” she responds.
She decides that both of their eye contact is equally good, but God, does it feel uncomfortable. They’re unlike many other people that Joan spends time with in that just talking to them, just looking at them feels like something intimate, and frankly, she doesn’t know how to respond to that.

Summary
The year is 1815, many years since Samantha Barnes was last home, and she desperately hopes that she'll be able to hide her trips from the new visitors on her doorstep. Mark Bryant hopes that he too can keep his shit together, even when a face from the past resurfaces at a masquerade ball and threatens to pull his whole life apart.
She takes a breath and turns the knob, swinging the door open to reveal a man and a woman stood waiting on her doorstep.
“Hello!” the man exclaims with a smile. “I knew there was someone here.”
“I’m sorry about my brother,” the woman grimaces. “We’d just heard you arrived here and wanted to welcome you to the area. My name is Joan Thompson and this is my brother, Mark Bryant.”
“Nice to meet you, m’lady,” Mark winks and Joan nudges him in the side without breaking eye contact with Sam.
“I’m Samantha,” Sam rushes to say. “Samantha Barnes, that is.”
“It’s lovely to meet you, Miss Barnes,” Joan smiles, her tone friendly but her eyes sharp and critical. Sam becomes painfully aware of the dust that still covers her dress.
“Oh, I — thank you, I suppose,” she mutters nervously. “It’s odd being back here.”
