In an alternate universe from the one we are most familiar with, the growth of the Copper-9 Mining Expedition wasn't nearly as successful. Instead, the nearby exoplanet of Boreal-4 provided Earth with a completely new resource. One that allowed them to defy fate as we know it, and one that doomed the planet for centuries. This began is what began Project: Perdition.
