Summary
In another world not too different from our own, a trans-continental bridge was constructed in the late 1950s as an alternative for those weary of traveling by plane. Years later, it remains mostly abandoned for reasons unknown, except for the people who work the maintenance and research centers known as Watchtowers that stand as the last piece of civilization left between the rare Bridge travelers and the ocean.
Hes is in charge of Watchtower 13, and she's incredibly good at her job. She keeps Wren and Mackenzie from bickering and she makes sure Emily does the traffic report (even though there's never anyone on the road), and she even helps out the new intern, Barney, and shows them the ropes of the job. But one day, a mysterious voice calls to her from over the Bridge's edge.
And Hes, without even thinking, invites a siren on land.
