Summary
The morning after had started out even better, with Sam even inviting him over. In the mine, James had often thought about the rule of 3’s. It only took three minutes without oxygen, three days without water, and the one that scared him most, three weeks without food to kill a man. He decided to add something else to that rule, it only took three seconds to ruin what should be a perfect day.
(Or, James tries to talk to Sam after everything. It goes about as well as you would expect.)
