Summary
Mary Stuart thought she had it all. A political alliance with France that would aid her in her mission to win back her rightful place on the Scottish throne through her marriage to its next king Francis de Valois, whom she came to love with all her heart. Or so it seemed, until Francis died, leaving her widowed and alone.
No longer welcome in France, Mary thought she owed it to her late husband to return to her homeland and reclaim her royal title as was their dream when he had been alive, and vowed to do so by any means necessary, even if that meant forming a new political alliance in the guise of marriage. What she did not know was how that second marriage to her cousin the Lord Darnley would cost her even more than she thought possible, threatening both her reign and what yet remained of her broken heart.
