"I'm gona step on your feet." Damien warns, his doe eyes only slightly apologetic. He lays his long fingers on Shayne's shoulder. Shayne grins, Damien's fingers cool to the touch over Shayne's, but they warm up quickly.
"Just give it a try," Shayne reassures, blinking rain water out of his eyes, "You'll be alright." Damien raises his eyebrows in a way Shayne knows means "Whatever you say, bud" and looks down at their feet.

At eighteen, Shayne told Damien wrapped in sheets illuminated by the early morning dawn that he wanted to marry him. That could never happen, his father would never allow it. At thirty-one, Shayne and Damien have a child and they're the closest they’ve ever gotten to everything he’s ever wanted. They could be more, and Shayne wouldn’t allow his father to take this from him.
