Summary
“Are you going to just sit there all day or are you going to stop being a coward?” Clarrise said as she poured the packet into a water bottle.
For a moment Percy pictured a little jar that people - including gods - would have to put money into if they called him a coward when he wasn’t being one. It was a nice thought; never mind the fact, Percy didn’t really need the money even if he could somehow enforce the idea.
“I don’t know,” Percy eventually said. His voice wasn’t loud despite the annoyance he already felt. “Are you actually going to listen to me or are you going to keep distracting yourself?”
Clarisse snorted at that. She screwed the cap back onto the water bottle before shaking it. The hydration packet made the water a little murky. “Talk or get out,” she demanded as she continued to shake it.
She really was stalling.
That didn’t surprise Percy. Clarisse wasn’t dumb. Arrogant? Absolutely. Someone who let her pride blind her? Also true. But she wasn’t fucking dumb.
“I want to write about my second year at camp.”
“So?” Clarisse asked, her voice nonchalant. “Write about it. That has nothing to do with me.”
