Summary
He heard a splash to his right. He whipped his head around fast enough to catch a tail going back under. It was a deep lavender color with splotches of purple and dark purple the closer it got to the end. The fins were nearly black with how dark of a purple they were but they were speckled with golden flecks.
Dogday stared at the tail in awe.
Never has he seen a fish of that coloration around. Ever.

He shook his head, ears flopping down, “No… I don’t want to risk him being exposed-”
Hoppy’s entire body seemed to perk up, her ears standing up and her legs giving a little hop. “Hey! Dogday!” she yelled out as she walked closer to him. “Why don’t we ask your lover boy?”
Silence.
Dogday pulled his ears to cover his face as he grumbled in frustration as Crafty put her hand on her hip and stared at Hoppy in an ‘are you serious’ manner.
“Did I hear that right?” Asked Kicking as he scratched his ear.

Catnap, a siren, had befriended Dogday, a fisherman. And after saving him and his friend made a couple more land dwelling friends.
But, he still has to yet meet the others.
The perfect time comes when the critters accidently find themselves lost at sea and Hoppy, in a moment of genius, outs his presence.

Deep sirens have more pressuring instincts that if ignored will only worsen. And the way that Catnap is literally half holding his tail to stop himself from swimming out is enough evidence that he has been ignoring them for a while.
But why? Why now? What are they trying to make him do this time that feels so important. Dogday isn’t in any danger for them to practically demand him to drag him to the nest and-
