Summary
Selected as sacrifice to the Goddess who threatens and protects their city in equal measure, Merida does not know exactly what to expect when she enters the deep caves - she knows only that no young woman who has entered has ever come out alive.
She finds the goddess: powerful, beautiful, and offering her a choice. Pass silently beyond, to a peaceful afterlife, or accept passage into the Goddess's own realm where the young women who have chosen her path have freedom over their bodies, their time, and their sexualities.
For Merida, it is no choice at all.
